  1. The final battle with Bowser is pretty intensely frustrating, but I never really had that many problems with Mario 64. It's the very first console game I ever owned and I still replay it every few years, so I'm probably speaking from a position of heavy nostalgia. Also, the N64 is old enough to vote as of today. Perfect timing.

I generally think tiny dogs are cute, but I also feel bad for them because they almost inevitably succumb to serious congenital health problems as a result of being bred to be cute and not to be functional organisms. Pugs are the worst.
  3. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Is TotalBiscuit the Richard Dawkins of video games? Find out in this shocking exposé. I don't know how to end this thought.
  4. Feminism

Kate Leth's new shirt design is pretty rad. It's also available as a patch.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

Oh man, if this becomes a big summer blockbuster (ha), just imagine... Tetris: The Official Game of the Movie.

    HOLY SHIT YOU GUYS, FOLDERS

  8. Movie/TV recommendations

    OH MY GOD, IT'S HAPPENING
  9. Jeff Goldblum

So one of my very favourite small joys is reading the insane one-star amazon reviews for things that I love, and hoo boy does Jurassic Park ever have some great ones.
  10. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

So one thing that I hadn't even considered until I saw someone on tumblr (bogleech, who is a feminist but isn't even very interested in games) bring it up: The most flawed part of the notion that game journalism has become increasingly interested in social issues as a result of being paid off is that in their golden era when games journos weren't SJWs (and thus weren't being paid off) didn't even try to hide the fact that they were paid off. I mean. Nintendo owned and operated their own magazine for nearly twenty years. If you ever bought a game because you saw it in Nintendo Power when you were a kid, you bought a game because a game critic/journalist was literally on Nintendo's payroll. You are a corporate shill.

clearly we need a bunch of rage comic meme faces
  12. Feminism

(I will never stop telling people to read Lumberjanes) Feminist, queer-friendly all-ages comic produced by an all-female creative team; and it debuted with such high sales numbers that it needed a second print run and was immediately bumped from "miniseries" to "ongoing." Boom may be small and young, but they've been incredibly smart about what work they choose to publish and it's paid off. This year so far they've made up two and a half percent of comic sales, which doesn't sound like much compared to old guard juggernauts Marvel and DC (who account for about a third each), but keep in mind that that's almost half of what mainstays like IDW and Dark Horse make and nearly triple what perpetual motion machine Archie Comics makes (in both cases, more if you count unit share instead of dollar share). I feel bad because I keep sidetracking all the important parts of this thread with stupid comic book bullshit.

I wish we had a proper sadface and that the anger tomato was given a different code.
  14. The Sims: 2014

but just think of how good it will be when all that DLC comes out
  15. Ferguson

Civilians supposedly at the scene are claiming that the officer in question killed the suspect at the scene, and I'm way more willing to believe them than the conflicting police reports that can't even decide on the officer's gender. One thing that the police do seem to be admitting is that it wasn't a burglar.
  16. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

Harry Shearer just found the voice too taxing to keep doing and Matt Groening found it Groening, so they just kind of quietly wrote him out of the show and later named the Dr. Marvin Monroe Memorial Hospital after him as a nod to his death. Like SecretAsianMan mentioned, he appeared again eight seasons later for a cameo at Marge's book signing after she wrote a romance novel. She thought he was dead; he claims to have "just been very sick".
  17. Who is it that keeps rating the episode threads?
  18. The Sims: 2014

Animal Crossing is where all the cool kids hang out.

Shitty emoticons are just one of this forum's charms. ...I love that we have emotes for Hitler, a bomb, and a Hitlerbomb.
  20. Spelunky!

I'm talking about the missing piece of the ceiling.
  21. Spelunky!

I somehow teleported inside of a block that was part of a shop and not only survived, but destroyed the block without even triggering the shopkeeper. EDIT: wait, no, I'm an idiot. That block was just always missing. D'oyyyyy
  22. Our favourite moments of play

The sand surfing in Journey. Especially with the way that game uses music and lighting. Also, the Koloktos fight in Skyward Sword, because so much of that game is a disappointing mess and yet it somehow has this absolutely perfect boss fight in the middle of it.
  23. Nintendo 3DS

You can buy region-free cartridge copies of the Louvre guide at the museum if you already have a 3DS, or download the guide in the eshop from anywhere. It's the only 3DS cartridge that's not subject to region locking, as I recall.
  24. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I played it with a friend the other day. It's crammed full of Zelda fanservice, but Dynasty Warriors gameplay and environments feel like a pre-alpha version of a game, not like something that was meant to actually ship. It's boring and repetitive to both play and look at.
