Oh man, where is that is that Batman comparison footage? I need to see that. I've actually been humming and hawing over getting that boxed set for myself. It's such a rad thing to exist, but it's like three hundred dollars. Sean actually everyone: you should check out the bizarre commentary/retrospective DVD that Adam West made of himself talking about Batman '66 for three hours. It's bonkers. He spends the entire first segment in his own completely undecorated cellar with zero explanation.

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the original art style weren't in Binding of Isaac Rebirth. Nicalis released two versions of Cave Story for 3DS. One is eshop-only and has the original graphics with optional stereoscopic parallax stuff. The other, the first release they did, is cartridge-only and forces you to either play with new 3D models in underwhelming poly environments or with the original sprites... in those same poly environments. Nicalis is weird.

Unusually specific request: I'm thinking of upgrading my WDTV Live. Has anyone here used one, or a similar set-top box devices? I've used mine (a first generation model) for years, but it's always bugged me that it has problems with MKV and video files with concurrent subtitles, namely anime. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations?

Just wanna say, this miniseries premieres tomorrow night on Cartoon Network and will air in full across the week. I may or may not have watched the premiere through questionably legal means, and it's totally great: Also: Nailed it. Sort of.

To play Wii stuff on Wii U, it just boots to what is for all intents and purposes an emulated Wii. It doesn't accept any input from the Gamepad or Pro Controllers, though you can use the Gamepad as a display. To play VC stuff properly on the tablet with savestates and not having to use a Wiimote and stuff, you need to pay a small upgrade fee (I think it's like $1 for NES and $2 for SNES?) for each game, and they need to be available on the Wii U eshop. No idea what to tell you about an HDMI converter, but it seems like there must be an easier way.

Unrelated: Manga and light novel publisher Vertical has been having an ongoing argument via tumblr with what I'm 90% sure is a straw feminist troll account. The tell for me is the part where they try to accuse Vertical of only aiming for white dudes when literally nothing Vertical has ever published was written with a white audience in mind.

Oh yeah, the best thing I ever found in a second-hand shop was a huge pile of copies of The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition with the "not for resale" notice carefully clipped off. Still have mine.
