  1. R.I.P. Ryan Davis

Fuck. I was never much of a GB fan, but Ryan was the kind of guy that leaves an impression on you. This is one of those times when a person's death feels downright surreal; like you can't fathom that the world no longer has them in it. I feel especially awful for his wife. I mean, on the honeymoon itself? Jesus.
  2. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

FOSSIL UPDATE HAVE SPARES OF: Iguanodon Skull NINTENDO JUNK: HAVE SPARES OF: Bad Bro's Stache Fire Bar Peach's Parasol Yoshi Egg ALSO: I need axes. Lots of axes.
  3. PS Vita

Can you compare and contrast it with the Wii version? It's one of the games that I want a Vita for, but I'm not sure if there's enough there to really justify rebuying it.
  4. I Had A Random Thought...

I just had the sudden realization that Chocolate Boy from Hey Arnold was a kid-friendly version of a drug addict.
  5. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I just realized I passed up a huge opportunity. JEFF GAME GOLD BED
  6. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

    10 medals on the island!
  7. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I got a squeaky hammer whose only purpose in the game is for bonkin' people on the noggin. I could not be more ecstatic. Also, I figure we should make a record of who has what fossils for trading. NEED: Ankylosaurus Tail Apatosaurus Tail Dimetrodon Torso Megacerops Torso Spinosaurus Tail Stegosaurus Head Velociraptor Head/Torso And whatever goes between the Fern Fossil and the Archaeopteryx. I don't have any spare duplicates at the moment, but I'm sure to dig some up tomorrow.
  8. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

:0 Can you order another one of those beds for me? I love gothic lolita stuff.
  9. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I just noticed that today, too. I think it might just be a summer thing.
  10. Dreams!

I had an Idle Thumbs Dream! They read two emails that I sent in (in the dream, not in real life). One of them was probably goofy but I don't remember it. The second one amounted to me asking if the thumbsketeers spoke any other languages and if they had any interest in language in games. Chris read and answered the email in a language that I didn't recognize, but was internally consistent enough to sound like a real language.
  11. Pokémon X and Y

I haven't been posting as much in this thread because I know you guys don't give a shit about Pokémon, but it's only three months away now and the new info recently has been pretty interesting. Here's a recent trailer showcasing a few new features; like the new horde battles (where you can be jumped by five wild monsters at once) and sky battles (where only flying-types and Pokémon with Levitate can participate, which seems unbalanced to me), the new streamlined and improved online system, a few very brief glimpses of trainer customization, etc. A short message from Junichi Masuda talking about the French influence of the game, then unveiling a wicked ghost sword which, not accounting for the new Fairy type, has eight resistances and three immunities with only two weaknesses (assuming its ability isn't Levitate, which would effectively remove a weakness and add an immunity). I hope its stats and movepool are good. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=xqwYdOsbixI dis gon' be a fun game Oh, also, the Gen V dream world is shutting down in October so that they can immediately roll out the new Gen VI version, which is kind of butt but whatever. I'm glad they're continuing with the Pokémon Global Link stuff at any rate.
  12. It's funny when the opposite happens. I remember seeing a thing from the eighties with a dude talking about different genres of arcade games where he described Ladybug as being part of a genre called "monster maze games" (as differentiated from "maze games"), when now we just call Ladybug a Pac-Man clone. Edit: oh hey
  13. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

    Yup! Triple nuggs.
  14. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

oh sweet, I got the silver slingshot, now I can- this is seriously the first thing I shot down with my silver slingshot Also: in the last few days have been busy. I've got Shampoodle, Club LOL, The Roost, and Super T&T now; and my police station will be built by tomorrow. I also have a sweet sculpture just outside of town hall. Oh, and a solid gold bed.
  15. Animal Crossing: New Leaf

I got the silver slingshot! It's been a silver tools kind of week.
  16. Life

My short-term benefits are apparently up next week, so now I have to go through the whole medical insurance thing again through a different insurance company. Here we go again! (and just last night I decided to finally break down and splurge on a copy of Chibi-Robo)
  17. The term "roguelike" has always been weird to me, because it just reminds me that we used to call the FPS genre "doomlikes."
  18. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

I tried to find a wired 360 controller a while back for Nitronic Rush, and they're virtually impossible to find in stores now. I tried the Wii U demo of this game back when the console launched. I thought it was pretty good (ie: better than Mario Kart), but not quite enough to sway me to buy it.
  19. Professor Layton Series

I've only played Unwound Future and, more recently, Miracle Mask. In both cases I feel like I missed out on a lot of plot stuff from having not played the previous games, but for the most part really enjoyed the games themselves. I even 100%ed Miracle Mask, plus the daily puzzles keep me going back to it a lot more than expected. I love that the framing device for these games is just "every person on Earth just really fucking loves puzzles." Also I absolutely refuse to do sliding tile puzzles, so I immediately resort to a guide in those cases.
  20. Catching up with you "retro wishlist".

Yes! But for whatever reason it absolutely stutters to a crawl any time it has to play the little "area cleared" cutscene where all the plant life comes back, so I figure there's maybe something wrong with my copy or something. It's got an HD port now, so eventually I plan on biting the bullet and getting that, since I've barely made any progress anyway. I might even get rid of my PS2 altogether since the only games I've played for it have been Shadow of the Colossus, Persona 3 FES, Persona 4, and Okami; all of which now have ports (I already have SOTC/Ico HD and the downloadable version of P3FES). Symphony of the Night came out more than fifteen years ago. I was six. You are ooooooold. OOOOOOLD.
  21. Luigi's Mustache Competition: A personal request

I keep reading this thread title as "Luigi's Mustache Ride." It's the worst Mario Party minigame ever.
  22. Catching up with you "retro wishlist".

I only got an NES, SNES, Dreamcast, PSP, Xbox, and PS2 (and thus PS1) long after they were relevant; so I am eternally behind the times. I also only ever owned a couple of N64 games. I've actually been using Virtual Console to catch up on a lot of things, which has been a great help. Right now I've actually been trying to round out my GBA, DS and Gamecube stuff. It is so very hard to catch up with games. They can take ages to finish (assuming you're good enough to finish them at all), and tracking them down is a hassle even if you're willing to compromise (like playing Centipede without a trackball or Steel Battalion without its hilarious control deck thing).
  23. The Steve's Wedding Story is astounding.
  24. QUILTBAG Thread of Flagrant Homoeroticism

    Seriously, this is absolutely terrifying.
