I only played it for the first time last year, right around this time of year. You are not alone.

I replayed the second game earlier this year and there totally wasn't.

Where does the Ace Attorney movie fall on the Takahashi Miike scale? I just watched the 2009 animated Wonder Woman movie, 'cause I was craving some superheroine action. Unfortunately it's kind of butt. Two things that stood out: 1) this is like the definitive "bloodless carnage" movie. It's so violent, but nobody bleeds. 2) the invisible jet just shows up. There's no effort at all to explain it and nobody ever comments on it.

two different choose your own adventure books, 'cause that's like fifty books

I'm a little disappointed at the lack of postgame content, so I'm still laying but mostly cooling my heels for now.

I notice that there's a recurring theme present in each case of "the Dark Age of the Law" and falsified information in court. I like that there's an overarching theme tying everything together like that, and it's a nice reminder that Ace Attorney was originally made as a criticism of the Japanese legal system. I like all the little gameplay tweaks, too. Being able to save at any point with no restrictions, only being able to examine areas when it's relevant, getting a checklist and a textlog... They're all small improvements that really add a lot to the game. I'm also really digging the character animations and 3D models. They capture the feel of the original spritework much better than most games ever come close to.

Put a frame of black velvet around your screen. It'll eat any excess light, no problem.

Because, "I wanna' watch a movie, not read it!"

"Freedomboard."

If we go with that theme, I nominate Fun Home by Alison Bechdel (which I have not read) and/or Ayako by Osamu Tezuka (which I have). For alternate themes, I have no idea. November is still a good time for horror stuff. It's kind of a bleak, depressing month to me despite having my birthday in it.

Anybody looking for a fairly comprehensive guide to ideal breeding and training methods; here's a sweet infographic I found on /vp/.

Alfred Hitchcock?

jesus fuck augh Normally I'm not all that squeamish about body modification and this is something that I'm really fascinated by in theory, but I give that guy maybe a 50/50 chance of keeping that arm. I mean, that's a fucking massive oblong foreign object placed in an area that moves around a ton, installed by some guy who seriously used ice as an anesthetic.

I picked this up today! I'm really digging the new 3D models, but the voice acting is a little odd. Phoenix is played by Teddie's VA from the Persona 4 remake...

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Why is Japan so good at ridiculous pranks? http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zZGNk8pUj4Y -
Here is an excellent spooky comic as a belated Halloween thing.

I forgot to go to Club Nintendo yesterday to order a 3DS cradle, and now they're sold out. Why is there always so little stock on these things? Also, speaking of Club Nintendo, here's a crazy thing that happened: one of this year's Platinum rewards in Japan (which will be available for 800 coins afterward) is a digital copy of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. Apart from the craziness that is Nintendo releasing a digital version of a full DS game, Days of Ruin was never released in Japan (though a Japanese translation was made, it was never released). Crazy.

I'm almost finding it hard not to believe that's a P4R article or something.

OnO (also, gonna' watch Night on Bald Mountain later)

Sweet Ramones patch. So far I've eaten enough candy and chips to make me sick and watched a bunch of Youtube stuff, Treehouse of Horror, and Poltergeist. Next I'm thinking another TOH and then Ghostbusters to close.

Idle Thumbs 130: Fundamentally dangerous to the notion of culture

I'm listening to the part about fanfiction and public domain and there's a couple of things I want to bring up: 1) only the work that Lovecraft wrote before 1923 is confirmed to be in the public domain; everything else is up in the air and it's not clear who owns what, if anything. I guess nobody cares enough to sue or something. It might even be a King Kong/Donkey Kong thing where nobody gets sued because the people who claim to own the property know that they actually don't. 2) the longest known singlular written work in the English language is a Super Smash Bros. fanfic. It's more than 209 chapters and 3.5 million words long. That's seven times longer than War & Peace.
