They`re okay? I always accidentally burn my popcorn a little bit and it's harder to pick out the burned pieces since they're on the side, but that's my only real opinion on them. I bought a folding patio chair at the mall because it was the only thing within my price range that looked like it was tall enough to use with the table. I'll get a better one later.

I like telling Americans that in Canada, we call soda "gentlemen's seltzer."

I got a drafting table! Here's the box. It weighed 45 pounds and I had to lug it up the stairs to the fourth floor. Sewaddle and Pikmin for scale. And here's the finished table! It took two hours with no breaks to assemble the whole thing. I already love it to death, but I'll need to get an adjustable stool or chair to actually get any use out of it. You can see how it towers over my computer chair. (please ignore the messiness of my apartment. I'm a gross butt)

Idle Thumbs 152: Piercing the Fourth Dimension

By the way, this week's episode title sounds like a Gurren Lagann spinoff. -
Personally I've always been a fan of the Beetle Adventure Racing school of track design: include loads of secret alternate routes, with both aesthetic and strategic reasons to use them.

I think it's fair to say that there shouldn't be white-only spaces for much the same reason there aren't soup kitchens for the rich.

They tried that already.

The only things that keep nagging me about this is that having to pay to continue the story is kind of insidious. ...Also the fact that it shows that Nintendo is interested in free to play content, which could lead down a dark, dark path.

This film will eternally remind us that even fucking Batroc the Leaper got to appear in a movie before Wonder Woman.

I've heard from friends that this game is surprisingly good, specifically how microtransactions are actually integrated into the story and gameplay. You can get all the minigames for sixteen dollars if you haggle enough, so I might consider trying it next month when my credit card's a little better off.

I finished Speed Racer today! I feel it holds up really, really well; but there's one really weird instance where the same dozen or so pages are reused, panel for panel, for two different chapters. It's the only time any material is reused in the entire series, so it's really jarring. Also, I like how Racer X waits until the last page of the entire series to reveal that he's Rex Racer and be all "NOW WE ARE A FAMILY AGAIN." It's the best.

My favourite thing about Princess Tutu is how much it starts to play with fiction as the series progresses. All of the character arcs go in twisty, fascinating directions; with my favourite being Rue.

I like how you guys are debating over the moral quandaries of a hypothetical group of people that would have maybe a few hundred members in relation to feminists as a whole. The whole "I'm fine with feminists as long as they don't..." argument is insufferable. It's the "I'm not racist, but..." of feminism. It shows the speaker as being suspicious of a group as a whole for the extremely rare, possibly fictional actions of an extreme subset of that group.

No, it scales it to the largest possible resolution while still being pixel-perfect, which happens to be nearly the same size as the TV screen anyway, so there's no room for the border.

Whoa, there's a lot of good stuff on sale on that site for slightly lower discounts too. Is everything on the site discounted or what? Speed Racer is surprisingly rad. There's this fantastic foreward by Peter Fernandez about his work localizing the Speed Racer anime, which is absolutely astonishing. The budget would only allow for three voice actors, he didn't know that the title was a pun, and he accrued like $400 in parking tickets over the course of the series and had to have his lawyer get him out of jail. That alone would be worth it, but it turns out that Speed Racer has aged much better as a manga than as an anime. the sense of speed and the gorgeous depictions of cars are so great. I also like how the first chapter presents Pops as the angriest man alive.

There was a news story published today about a white guy in Detroit hitting a kid with his truck and then being assaulted by a dozen or so black people when he stopped to see if the kid was okay. Through some lapse of judgement I decided to read the comments section for once. Next time I have that urge, remind me to punch myself in the face.

Hire Danielle to review Campto Santo games full-time. Nothing could possibly go wrong. -
Whoa, the second volume of Sharknife actually came out? *Googles* Looks like it was released in 2012, seven years after the first one. Goddamn. In other news, I got my Speed Racer! The corner of the slipcase got dinged in shipping (boo), but it's still a gorgeous set. I have no idea where to put it.

Jeff Smith's work in general is kind of all over the place. Bone is great, but then you have stuff like his run on Shazam with the terrible child anatomy. This has an interesting premise so far, though.

You could turn the TV off and pass the gamepad around if you're worried about screenlooking. EDIT: Just tested it. You can use both the Gamepad and Pro controller, so everyone could have their own controller (or you could just pass around one pro controller) if you wanted to.
