Someone once pointed out to me that the Timm/Dini DCAU is secretly all about the character arc of Batman, all the way from naive newbie in Mask of the Phantasm all the way up to stubborn, bitter wreck in Epilogue.

I'm not usually much for superhero comics, and maybe it's because I just finished reading Speed Racer, but the new Ghost Rider looks like something I'd genuinely like. This artwork is amazing. Also, call it sacrilege, but I really like that they swapped out his motorcycle for a Dodge Charger. I'm pretty sure Batwoman was part of the new 52 deal. I really liked what I read of that, though I believe the original creative team walked out last year because of DC's renowned level of poor management. Frankly I feel that the best way to enjoy DC stuff is still to just watch the Dini/Timm produced animated series and consult Wikipedia every so often to fill in the gaps.

There actually was a WipEout 2048 though SF Rush was 2049.

Kate's originally from the Maritimes, IIRC. Most guys from my hometown would move to Alberta after high school for just this. Seems like she did the same.

I love that when JL8 finally got threatened with legal action, it was from professional baseball over the original "Little League" name and not from DC for use of their characters.

So I'm only partway through the Luftrausers talk right now, but I thought this would be a good thing to bring up: One of the Guild01 games on the 3DS, Keiji Inafune's Bugs vs. Tanks, has Nazis as the protagonists. Like, not pastiches of Nazis or use of Nazi-inspired imagery, but actual Nazis who have been shrunk down to bug size, with the implication that they will go back to murdering millions and millions of people once it's all over. It is the specific reason as to why I have never played it and why I might never play Luftrausers. It also really soured my picture of Keiji Inafune, whose work I otherwise love. How fucking weird is it that this is a thing that even exists?

Oh my goodness gracious, the first issue of Lumberjanes is out today. I bought it and read it and now I'm really excited to see where it goes next. You should probably check it out. So weird to go to a comic shop to buy a comic where literally every character is a strong female character and then see the guy at the counter stick this flyer with a super trashy Vampirella cover in the bag with it. Also, the East Coast Comic Expo is coming to this city in May and Kate Leth's going to be there. I really hope I can go.

I actually really like the idea for the ranking system. Emphasizing "you're better than all these people" instead of "all these people are better than you" is one of those ideas like World of Warcraft's half xp/double xp thing where changing the way that something is phrased makes you feel a lot better about it.

I totally forgot this was on today and had to go back and rewatch a bunch of it. D'oh. So with the loss of transforming characters, it looks like Ivysaur and Squirtle are gone forever (OnO), but what's up with Kirby? We haven't seen him inhale anyone yet. I'm getting a little concerned. Also, Greninja seems like a great choice for a new character, but now I can't help but think it's weird that we've got two parts of a Starter Pokémon trinity, but no Grass Starter. Maybe Sceptile will be a secret character or something. Also: Best:
