  1. I'd heard that, which is dissapointing. I have 2 soul vessels now, considereding using one (im SL 60-something). I assume they revert back to your class's starting stats, I was a swordsman so I start with high dex, but not too much that I couldn't put a lot into str and go for a more balanced approach. I still want to get a katana or 2 though, the uchi was one of my favorite weapon in Demons and DkS1.
  2. I'm not sure where I want to go with weapons yet. I usually do a dex build, and that's how this guy started out, but right now i'm power stancing a +5 fire longsword and +5 heide sword. It's working out, but won't scale. I'd like to get an uchi, and/or falchion. I do have a ricards rapier as well I can upgrade. Some of those require a super heavy dex investment to power stance, but seems like it would be fun. I could respec to get rid of the str I have needed to power stance the swords I have now, and get some dex back.
  3. I'm not sure what constitutes a spoiler, so Ill put my reply in spoiler tags just in case
  4. Idle Thumbs GDC Meetup 2014 - 3/20 9pm at Dear Mom

Meeting is over, but was successful. Great to meet you guys, it was fun. I don't often get to discuss what is a game, or antagonize twig with talk about what is apparently my only topic of conversation, Dark Souls. Thanks guys. I do live here, so if anyone else wants to hang out while you are around, for whatever reason, I'm probably game.

Drew and I are in the back room, though it might be reserved later. I'm in a green plaid shirt and navy and gray cardigan

I did realize that it is probably worth mentioning, for those who aren't familiar with it, that Dear Mom is a cash only bar. Also they have food too. They do have an ATM I believe

Oh I didn't know that. There's a lot of bars around though, most of them are good. We can still give it a try. What day works for people? Someone mentioned Thursday I think.
  11. In the ruins he finds the fated axe of the chosen one, the Axecalibur.
  12. Oh man I love that art. Must be Olly's handiwork. Anyway, I look forward to when we learn about how Henry stumbles upon a ruin in the forest, and accidentally awakens an ancient evil, which only he has the power to fight
  13. Well, I got the game yesterday and played it for about an hour. Very first thing I did once I could control a character, before even creating mine, was walk off the edge of the world and die. Then I did it again, but the second time wasn't intentional. I really like it, but I'm not sure I like dual-weilding. I think I want a shield. I like the game enough to preorder the PC version already though.

It is a cool bar! It seems like the right place to have an idle thumbs meetup. Lot of space too.

I'm @coaxmetal on twitter. Twitter isn't really great at coordinating things though, but it can be done. I'm local, alls I know about is bars in the mission though. Plenty of good ones. There's always the idle thumbs classic Dear Mom. Some other places near me, and some good dives too. Flying Pig Bistro is a pretty good cafe/sandwichplace/beer bar. I'd recommend not meeting up at a bar or restaurant in soma, those tend to be crowded with startup types anwyay, and will be even moreso during a conference. I'm assuming here that a bar is ok with everyone, not sure if that is a reasonable assumption or not.
  16. That doesn't really make me happier, believe it or not. I'll make sure my PS3's system software is update to date first, at least. Mandatory install isn't a problem, I'd install it anyway because I am not a barbarian.
  17. anime

The Lucifer and Biscuit Hammer is a great name also, and a fantastic manga.
  18. Idle Thumbs GDC Meetup 2014 - 3/20 9pm at Dear Mom

I'm down to meet up. I am not attending GDC, but I do live in San Francisco. Can I still come?
  19. yup. I figure I can wait an extra day in any case (my amazon copy is coming tomorrow)
  20. anime

I had the same reaction to horizon in the middle of nowhere. Beyond the boundary has a cool name though and I liked it.
  21. Anyone here own a fancy keyboard?

She's a good cat. Very fuzzy.
  22. Anyone here own a fancy keyboard?

Oooh I love a good keyboard thread. I can second the recommendation for wasdkeyboards.com (not to be confused with wasdkeyboard.com, which redirects to a different site, maxkeyboards or something). This is mine, I have cherry blue switches on it. I don't think there is really any benefit to having mechanical switches for gaming, maybe there is, I don't do much competitive gaming. It is quite nice when programming though. Plus I like the clicking sound. I have one at work, too (a rosewill RK-9000, a generic cheaper cherry switch keyboard, but often out of stock)
  23. Locomotive Breath is a great song. Did you know that Ian Anderson came up with the idea for the song, but couldn't get it across how it wanted to the rest of the band, so they recorded it as separate tracks and arranged it after? That wasn't common then. Also made it weird to play it live, but they figured out how. I had a jethro tull collection or something that had a long Ian Anderson interview. All I remember is that and that they were recording in the same place as zeppelin.
  24. anime

Yup, the story it tells and the way it tells it are not at all what I would have expected from that premise, in a good way. Also, I love Redline. It just looks so good and is fun to watch. And it looks really really good.
  25. Giant bomb has a not-quite-review of Titanfall, without a score, because they are waiting on live servers to try it, which I think is a good way to handle that. They also have a DkS2 Quick Look going up at 9PM (PST) tonight, so that's probably when the embargo is up. I don't think I'm going to watch it until I have a chance to play the game myself, which is looking like it is going to be Wednesday.
