Oh sweet tomb raider! gameplay????????? nope WHAT. Its exclusive to shit box  man thats a bummer. I'll just have to buy a Xbox One in 2016, i can live with that
-
Did he just say "Day Zero" lol. So what exactly is the difference between day 1 and day 0 You'd think you'd want to get your xbox one game on day one not day zero. Mixed messages Phil!

"First to console on Xbox One" maybe they're finally ditching all the "exclusive" bollocks, can't say i've heard them say the word yet...

I think they streamed them last year as well and 2012 it appears 2013: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/08/20/gamescom-2013-watch-the-playstation-press-conference-live-today/ 2012: http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2012/08/14/sony-at-gamescom-2012-live-stream/ They're slowly getting bigger... or maybe its just becomes a lot easier to stream this stuff as the years go by. There's definitely an audience, hell, i'm watching it

David Lynch's Josh Brolin's Campo Santo's Fire Watch With Me: A Motion Picture Event
melmer replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
I've just wasted 5 minutes of my life looking for the gamescom streaming schedule to see if I could find out when campo santo were giving their fire watch demo. Then it dawned on me that they're going to paaaaaaaaax not gamescom. Doh. I also brief wondered earlier if the idle thumbs crew were in Germany already and if we'd still get a podcast this week. Lucky I didn't tweet them asking if they had eaten any sausage yet Also, saw a tweet earlier that the next issue of the quarterly review is imminent I still haven't managed to read the last two. I really want to, I can just never find the time. (I'm reading Dune at the moment and am at 8% after a month, so I'm on target to finish it around this time next year) an audio version would be so good.... Read by Danielle in the funny voice -

Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I LOVE the Corps! You know if you've seen aliens. Hudson come here, COME HERE -

This video detailing the changes in the engine/game player is worth a watch http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/archive/2014/08/08/the-new-gameplay-of-assassins-creed-unity.aspx Although it just strengthens the felling that play rogue after unity will be quite jarring Man assassin creed 3 looks shit in comparison in this video

Idle Thumbs 170: Esophagus Sarcophagus
melmer replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
So I switched to listening on soundcloud instead of the dog shit iTunes podcast app and I had a much better listening experience, everything just worked 10 times faster, I didn't get a pop up asking me if I wanted to use 3G data and I didn't get sent back to the app home page when I canceled said pop up grrrrrrr, the audio even sounded better? Might be my imagination. it's a shame that I lose the little 15sec back/forward buttons off the lock screen. But overall better, kudos to whoever suggested soundcloud -
Honestly I just google image searched Groundhog Day and found it I can't remember exactly but I guess I tagged it with groundhog as it's the same shit ever year

Because Billy Murray's an assassin of course

What are the chances that playing as a female character in assassin creed unity was supposed to be a surprise story twist and they fucked up trying to keep it secret using the poor excuse that it's to expensive to animate, and boom gamescom announcement "woman were in it all along"

Did you guys know about this? Nintendo Network Premium / Deluxe Digital Promotion https://p.nintendo.net I think if you brought the deluxe (black 32GB) wii u console you can earn money back by buying/redeeming codes for games and games content through the nintendo eshop I need to spend another £8 to receive £5 credit. Nice The free game you got in the Mario kart bundle works towards this

That's the firewatch panel

It would be nice if someone videoed the idlethumbs live cast, whether a reader or more an official thing. Live podcasts always sound kinda screwy.

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)
melmer replied to Wrestlevania's topic in Idle Banter
Interesting story: The Verve/Richard Ashcroft have made absolutely no money from that song Taken from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bitter_Sweet_Symphony Although the song's lyrics were written by Verve vocalist Richard Ashcroft, its distinctive passage for strings was sampled from the 1965 Andrew Oldham Orchestra symphonic recording of "The Last Time", arranged & written by David Whitaker, inspired by the 1965 Rolling Stones' song of the same title. Originally, The Verve had negotiated a licence to use a five-note sample from the Oldham recording, but former Stones manager Allen Klein (who owned the copyrights to the band’s pre-1970 songs) claimed the Verve broke the agreement and used a larger portion.Despite its original lyrics and string intro (by Wil Malone & Ashcroft), the music of "Bitter Sweet Symphony" was sampled from the Oldham track, which led to a lawsuit with ABKCO Records, Allen Klein's holding company, and eventually settled out of court. The Verve relinquished all of their royalties to Allen Klein, owner of ABKCO Records, whilst songwriting credits were changed to Jagger/Richards/Ashcroft. "We were told it was going to be a 50/50 split, and then they saw how well the record was doing," says band member Simon Jones. "They rung up and said we want 100 percent or take it out of the shops, you don't have much choice." After losing the composer credits to the song, Richard Ashcroft commented, "This is the best song Jagger and Richards have written in 20 years", noting it was their biggest UK hit since "Brown Sugar". On Ashcroft's return to touring, the song traditionally ended the set list. Ashcroft also reworked the single for VH2 Live for the music channel VH1, stripping the song of its strings. Ashcroft is quoted as saying during the show: "Despite all the legal angles and the bullshit, strip down to the chords and the lyrics and the melody and you realise there is such a good song there." In a Cash for Questions interview with Q magazine published in January 1999, Keith Richards was asked (by John Johnson of Enfield) if he thought it was harsh taking all The Verve's royalties from "Bitter Sweet Symphony," to which he replied, "I'm out of whack here, this is serious lawyer shit. If The Verve can write a better song, they can keep the money."
