Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
melmer replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
So, you have two bells in your inventory. There was no explaination on them and ringing them didn't really do anything... Maybe by ringing one puts you into a shared world. Or maybe ringing it just brings attention to nearby players in your world. I'm sure it'll explained on the BB Wiki. I didn't reach a boss but I did fight against a couple if sub-boss big dudes, whilist with another player. A lot if their attacks were big sweeping or spinning attacks. They felt more robust then DS enemies with like 7/8 different moves at their disposal, some big hits and charges meant to attack a single person and serveral crowd control moves Here's an explanation http://www.dualshockers.com/2014/10/01/ps4-exclusive-bloodbornes-online-co-op-features-detailed-by-alpha-manual/ So it works like the old summoning, but it's all done automatically on the fly. I guess. I rang lots of bells so I can't tell if I was hosting all the time, but it was all seamless. -
Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
melmer replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
It reads like he's been doing it on purpose. right? Apart from maybe his short film, which he got called out on and then went plagiarising crazy all with really obvious easy to find copies, maybe to try and cover it up, make it all seem like an act? who knows... I am following him on twitter now though I hate seeing that self inflicted scar he has on his cheek now though, makes me cringe when i think about it. He felt the make up on the movie 'Fury' wasn't convincing enough so he cut his face open and keep reopening the wound throughout filming :-/ -

I haven't had a problem with either the black bars or field of view, I like them. Unlike the field of view in resident evil 6 which caused me to quit the game within an hour

I just bought Metriod Prime 3 and Sin and Punishment for the Wii. Need to get some more use out of the Wiimote. Probably wont play them anytime soon, but at least i have them now so i can start them whenever i'm in-between games. This was the idea after all when i purchased the WiiU, to play all the Wii game i'd missed.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.
melmer replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
Quit Mordor What of it!? I was 20+ hours in, had just gained the brand skill. It was all very samey ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i could've turned my brain off and ploughed though the rest of the game but i needed to free up some time for Bayonetta 2, so it's bye bye Talion. The nemesis system was great but it didn't really blow my mind, perhaps its because i can still see the strings. Is doesn't seem like it's something that that's difficult to programme? I feel like this stuff should be in all open world games as standard. NPC randomly in the world or just going about there business, we've hand that before. NPC's remembering your actions, it's great that it's dynamic here and not a coin flip decision... i dont know, i think i just prefer an authored experience over an emergent systems based experience. (i think i'm in the wrong place ) The climbing was a bit annoying. The stories attached to the collectables were a bore, the main storey was a bore, the environment was a bore. meh Archery was fucking cool! I just wish the world and story were more interesting/surprising. i hope they blow the doors off for the sequel, i want to see orcs, human, elfs and dwarfs all active in the same world. Giant trees and spiders walking around. Make a proper sandbox, with huge battles, instead of having side quests of 'stop the Orc drinking grog', it should be 'help these one hundred elfs fend off 300 Orcs'. The game world should have territories, and the environments should change in regard to who holds the land. I think they need to hire some quality design staff as it all just looked a bit drab, do it right and this could kill off Assassin Creed -
Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
melmer replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
As much as i enjoyed Dark Souls 2 the difference in quality here is enormous. Obviously Bloodborne is on a more powerful system so it can do nicer effects etc but seriously every design element here is in another league. All the souls game staples that you know and love are here with refinements, which makes me scratch my head when i think back on Dark souls 2, why weren't these easy and obvious refinements implemented? If it wasn't for the 'souls' framework, Dark Souls 2 would've been hot garbage. The game is just an expansion pack anyway when you see what and how they could've improved on the formula. Seems as though the team was tasked with making new levels and new enemies... that's it. I wonder how much communication these two teams had, if any. I also wonder if they purposely held back refinements so that Bloodborne would feel like more of an improvement/departure. -
I'm really liking it too. I'm almost 8 hours in on chapter 7, i think i must be close to half way through the game. Just had my first glimpse of safe head I feel a little nostalgic playing it, the writing/acting and just the general look and feel to everything make it seem like a HD remake of a PS2/Gamecube era survival horror game. But the way it looks and the implementation of stealth mechanics and character upgrades stops it from feeling dated. The game is super varied which is keeping it interesting and pulling me through. I'm not massively eager to play it for long spells or desperate to get back to it, but, i'm really enjoying the short 1-2 hour session i'm having with it in which i'm always thoroughly immersed in the world. Each chapter throws something different at you, different environments, different play styles. The game starts out really stealth heavy but after chapter 3 the game has been all out carnage (with lots of down time, don't worry). I hope they'll return to the stealth heavy open environment style game play of chapter three as that is where the game really shone for me. I think i'm being more forgiving then usual and overlooking some occasional bad design as this is one teams vision, a complete package. This game hasn't been designed by comity, no pandering, no balance patching, no DLC or distracting social features. In this day and age its a breath of fresh air. I'd highly recommend it Gotta get dat slurms

Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))
melmer replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Almost forgot! Just played about 35minutes of it. Little strange to start with, getting used to the speed, trying to get my head around what it is... it's dark souls on speed. And it's glorious. Super fun, still hard as nails, I died a lot, mostly through being complacent. The controls are fantastic, they've streamlined the souls controls, you can access everything in a very intuitive way without having to use a inventory menu. A grenade/projectile button is a very welcome edition, I'll actual use bombs now! Multiplayer works like journey(!?), seems as though there are other players sharing your game world. I bumped into a few and got into some scrapes with huge tank enemies that almost require co-op to take them on, lots of baiting and distracting whilist your partner goes in. At one point I was in a posse of three wrecking shit. It's like they've made a game using the most fun parts of the souls games and it really works. Ya'll need to play this game. I really think it's going to be something very special. -
Mario 3D world and Mario Kart! Amazing! Mario 3D world is a baby game for a very long time, like ridiculously easy for 6 hours but stick with it as the later challenging levels are fantastic. (I was honestly worried that the whole game would be an unfulfilling cake walk) If you intend to play Bayonetta first then the sequel at some point in the future I don't know if they'd be much point playing them visa versa or back to back I quit wonderful 101, pikmin 3 and hyrule warriors after a couple hours :-/ I've read pikmin plays a million times better using a wii mote. Something to keep in mind. Zombie U is supposed to be good isn't it

My friend has a photo with George Lucas He's a ameture/indie film maker and tries to visit the canes film fest every year. This was the year the crystal skull was shown and he had caught wind Lucas was in this hotel. He managed to bypass the masses of press/people being blocked at the front entrance and sneaked in a side door (did I mention he's steamingly drunk). He walks into the foray and finds George and another guy alone. He's a massive massive Star Wars fan, so not wanting to miss the opportunity walks up to them, probably said something cringy, stuffed a camera into the other guys hand and asked for a photo Lucas was not impressed oh, and it turns out the other guy was the producer of the Crystal skull, oops

I watched the IGN lets play video and they didn't particularly like the multiplayer. They said the game gets locked at normal speed during multiplayer (not sure if that's the case with local), but yeah, very tedious not being able to speed it up when your towers are dominating

So this is out, has been out for over a week. I had to really hunt around in the PSN store to find it. £20 seems a bit steep, feel like i'm paying for all the multiplayer content i'll never touch. Its video game season and i have a que of games right up until Christmas to play so i think i'll just wait until this goes on sale. shame. if it had come out a month earlier i probably would have ponied up Weirdest thing about it though. No one has reviewed it!? okay, okay... ive just looked at IGN and PC Gamer have, but they're the only sites i recognise. PC: http://www.gamerankings.com/pc/679865-dg2-defense-grid-2/index.html PS4: http://www.gamerankings.com/ps4/777717-dg2-defense-grid-2/index.html Looks like its a solid 8/10 game (whatever that means), seems like its just been sent out to die or perhaps they're hoping their sales will come through the word of mouth slow burn. You know you will own this game through some sale or other in the next 2 years. Everyone of you will. That grid needs defending I blame Chris Remo

Just received this reply, not sure if they'll add it as a stretch goal The current fund doesn't look particularly healthy $96,223 pledged of $550,000 goal with 21 days to go

Why is the movie "Demolition Man" called Demolition Man? I'm probably going to answer my own question here, is it because Wesley's character likes blowing shit up and its his comic book villain nick name? I just find it weird that the film is named after the bad guy, when its not even his main motivation in the film? Isn't he blackmailing people for money The film should be called Blackmailer Bomber or CryoCop or some shit Demolition Man is a great movie name it just doesn't have a great deal to do with the actual plot INTERESTING FACT: The role of Simon Phoenix was offered to Jackie Chan who turned it down, citing he did not wish to "play a bad guy".

Those pictures legitimately raised my interest by a factor of 3000. I actually believe it could be.... Good. It's looks dark, maybe they're not aiming these films at 7 year olds like I had expected

https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10154764904815389&l=1582585594050152475 Witness me trying to figure out what flies in the evil within (whilst being utterly terrible at it) thats the first proper enermy encounter, I'm a lot better now and have cleared that whole section. Just learning stuff like how close you can get to someone with out having to do the mega slow creep. All melee attacks are utterly pointless. You can't push enemies in to fire... Actually on this one. Don't put bonfires in your game as set dressing when fire is a game mechanic. This fire is different to that fire because video games
