  1. Assassin's Creed: Mohawk

RAVOOWZ are in http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=497542 ...actually i'm going to avoid reading them to avoid spoilers as i'm going to play it either way
  2. The whole mission object to find the diary and bring it back to the pub completely slipped my mind, and so during the mission i was like hmmm whats this a 'blackmail diary' whats it for?? being an 'important mission item' i must be able to use it somewhere in this mission?? maybe i have to use it to blackmail the overseer somehow.... I'm pretty sure the item screen wasn't much help either, just stating 'Blackmail diary' People who completely skip through the story must pick it up and be like...
  3. Idle Thumbs on Facebook

This is actually aimed at the idle thumbs guys (should really just email them) but anyone who uses facebook for business may find this useful So yesterday after listening to the cloud atlus podcast, i thought i'd check out the Idle book club fb page. And found it super difficult to find! Admittedly i though it was called the 'idle thumbs book club' which returns no results in facebook search, and google search just brought my to the idle thumbs website where the only facebook links are to the main idle thumbs facebook page. It was only at this point that i twigged that it was called 'Idle book club' and was able to find it....But lesser mortals may have given up way before that I was thinking idle thumbs might want to do some interconnectivity between their social platforms? My quick and dirty example: I recently set this up on My works facebook page (which i just ripped off from a Cancun clubs facebook page, we've just booked next years holiday, SPRING BREAK WOOOOOO) They allow you to add external links into your Facebook favourites panel....the possibilities are endless, could link one to your forum, twitch tv etc I used a facebook Ifame app, there's a shit ton of them out there but the one i used is: 'Static Iframe Tab' (Says 'new share features for timeline' on the Icon) And by all means if you think i'm sticking my nose in where its not wanted you can tell me to get fucked
  4. Idle Thumbs on Facebook

In theory you should be able to get most of those 500 people in the group to like the new page, then once you've got 500 people on the page it should start growing organically..... in theory
  5. Idle Thumbs on Facebook

Only other thing i can think of is maybe try using tiny urls to the event in your posts, so they're not big ugly links tinyurl.com/NYT-ThePrince
  6. Idle Thumbs on Facebook

Just had a look at my local gig venue, they don't do to bad a job with there events https://www.facebook.com/TheWedgewoodRooms?ref=ts&fref=ts They change there cover photo regularly with the latest event
  7. Idle Thumbs on Facebook

Yeah, events are difficult. We have them but we don't push them and no one pays any attention to them. What you can do is post in the actual event itself, for example the banner here, second post down got a few likes: https://www.facebook...57230710983019/ I've noticed that these posts wont actually appear on your timeline, but they do appear in your followers news feeds. I've just posted a news item in there so i can show you what i mean The post should appear in your followers news feed as 'Your Page' > 'The Event' So you can post a big promotional banners/images in the actual event, and prompt people to 'Join the event' in the text with the image. As for posts on the actual timeline, you could 'pin to top' the promotion image post, with lots of call to action text 'Join the event NOW!!'....i've just found out you can't 'highlight' and 'pin to top' at the same time
  8. The Overseer poisoning scene really confused me, i reloaded it about 8 times. Picking up the 'blackmail diary' after my first messy attempt i assumed there was an alternate non-lethal approach (consider this was the first mission) I thought you could get the diary off him (pickpocket) and place it somewhere where a soldier would see it and then he'd get carted of to jail. So i kept trying to get the diary off him whilst keeping both guys alive and conscious...which is impossible, i wasted a lot of time spilling both drinks then following them down to the secret room where Mr friendly gets run through with cold steal. I finally gave up and just shot both of them in the face with sleeping darts (in slow motion of course) It was just a case of over thinking i guess.
  9. How far will you go for a scary game?

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth was awesome, although i don't know how well it'll hold up today. I only ever got halfway through the game , i'd love to play though it again and actually finish it. the game was hard as nails, really unforgiving. It's a weird mix of stealth and shooter, there are times where it plays like Dragon's Lair where you are in these scripted chase events when (even though you have full control) if you make one mistake you are dead. Now this is a game that desperately needs a xbla hd upgrade
  10. I was just reading this zombie fitness game article :? about narrative in gaming, Which, on the surface of it, seems like the most logically approach to game narrative. Bite size chucks of story. But does this totally kill immersion? i've just realised what this topic is actually about it...How important to narrative is immersion? I had a fantastic time playing through dishonoured last week, we can all agree the story wasn't the games strongest point. But i can't help but feel that chopping the game up in to it's mission based format crippled the story further. There was this one moment in the game towards the end, where the game switches to a more typical linear story driven fps, where you're tasked with making your way through a swamp...and i absolutely loved it. i had a real half-life deja vu moment scaling a dilapidated industrial staircase, and my immersion level shot through the roof, i actually cared about what was around the next corner, and what narratively awaited the protagonist when he escaped the swamp. The sense of not knowing, having no check point or mission objective really drew me in... now you've got me by the balls, slap me with some story and i might actually give a shit. The mission based stuff just offered no surprises, no intrigue, no immersion. If you wanted to know what was coming up next in the story just look at your mission objectives. Where as if you play a game like uncharted 2, which is admittedly narratively segmented, but there is an ambient end of mission state. The game switches shit up on the fly, shit goes down, shit hits fans. For me, the sense of unpredictability and unknowing in the level design really boosts the immersion level which can only strengthen the players connection with the story. (unless you're playing a ninja gaiden game) So what does the future hold? What if Half life 3 ends up being mission based!!
  11. Mission based gameplay and narrative

Perhaps i should have been more specific, as i was only thinking about a very particular style of game when i was writing it. In my mind i was comparing dishonoured to the likes of half-life 2, both linear adventures, but ones a continuous journey and the other is chopped up in to mission. (do mission, return to base, go to sleep) Consider if instead of returning to the pub after every mission, you would get dropped off and picked up by a barge which housed all the key story characters, and in-between mission you were actually travelling to the next location so there's this sense that you are always moving forward, travelling to the next objective, progressing the story. Still chapter/mission based but without the super blunt 'go to sleep' to end the chapter. Alan wakes American nightmare works really well with episodes, doubly so because its actually integral to the plot, Alan is stuck in a the night springs television show. So if you're going to use chapters in your game why not actually work there purpose in to the narrative. (really good game actually, its half price on xbox at the moment well worth a punt a £5?)
  12. Post your face!

  15. Jeff Goldblum

i prefer coked up Jeff to drunk Jeff http://youtu.be/v_0pOhJcTSA
  16. Just miss-remembering, i'm pretty sure this went out before any of the publicity images or anything was shown of the film So being pretty hyped up since hearing that they were making a cloud atlas movie and than having this as my first insight, bummed me out slightly. I was hoping he was going to say the film will be amazing but instead tells a funny little anecdote. Remember, this was way back when there was still a chance of the movie being a success I have no real desire to watch this movie anymore, especially with it being so long. And i can't help but feel it would be a better movie without Forest Gump and Catwoman Tom Hanks, is Tom Hanks is . I just think it'll be even harder to suspend belief with him being such a high profile actor. Where as Hugh Grant is kinda perfect as he hasn't been on the scene much lately.
  17. I found the clip...slightly different to how i remembered it (sense of an ending ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTjzaVCPoWU
  18. hmmmm I remember watching the Graham Norton show months ago when Hugh Grant was on, and when Graham asked him what he was currently filming he said that he was playing a cannibal chief and that he just felt awkward and it was all a bit silly... literally didn't have a good word to say about the film and just quickly changed the subject
  19. XCOM Enemy Unknown

i fucking love this game! I stormed an alien base last night and got utterly obliterated, i literally had no chance. I must have gotten hold of the alien key way before most people (i'm only in my 2nd month) so i reloaded my save.
  20. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

Personally i think this music would have been a much better fit http://www.youtubemultiplier.com/50866bb2dba76-biobodies-hit-the-floor.php (i just wasted ten minutes of my life making that )
  21. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

There's sure to be a bit of gliding in there as well, did they have wing suits in the year 1910
  22. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

Yeah that's what I mean, not an actual grappling hook. But just the mechanic of aiming at where you want to hook on to and pressing a button, will make booker leap at it like a kangaroo on steriods. Also there's a bit in the new trailer where bookers flying towards a highlighted enemy. Like the enemys been highlighted and leaped at probably from a rail Mark my words, it'll be the number one bullet point on the back of the box • Revolutionary new leap mechanic
  23. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

I'm thinking the sky hook is going to act like batmans grapple from Arkham city, where you'll point at a rail/hook press a button and you'll be launched magnetically in the right direction. It needs to be effortless, fluid and fun. So it'll have to be somewhat automatic. If you have to get every jump manually spot on I can see it being pretty unforgiving and frustrating. Leaping for a rail and falling to your death for the umpteenth time ain't fun Reading past interviews it sounds like Kens all about getting the beer swilling everyman interested in the game. Even more reason for a lock on button
  24. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

Holy shit! I'm impressed I did wonder if they'd bringing more of the horror element in this trailer. And we'd get to see Columbia at night time, which we did for a few seconds. But there is no theme as such. Just a showcase of awesome. Not much story and no time traveling... Damn it looks pretty.
  25. Bioshock ∞ - New trailer 21 Oct

Trailers up. They've dropped it early as I'm sure that countdown finished at midday today. Just making it all the more silly. I haven't even watched it yet...
