You've inspired me to give this a shot. Just put it in the oven a few minutes ago. Will report back before I go to bed. e: The meat got to 135 in less than three hours (currently at ~160 six hours in). I was baffled how it could take 8+ hours for a piece of barbecue to reach temperature when it went so quickly at first. This afternoon, I have learned a lot of cool shit about how cooking barbecue works. http://www.genuineideas.com/ArticlesIndex/stallbbq.html

Hearthstone: Because what Magic really needed was F2P mechanics

"until I have 1500 gold" is not the direction I'm going here. I have 115 gold and basically no cards. -

Ok, basic newbie question again. Should I buy packs when I hit 100g, or should I save 150 and go to the arena to try and win more? -
What do you want to watch? Most of my recommendations either to watch or stay away from would be based on what you're interested in viewing. http://www.twitch.tv/bikeman http://www.twitch.tv/northernlion Bikeman and NorthernLion are about the only streamers I follow that aren't game-specific streamers. Bikeman is funny and Northernlion is a really good spelunky player that does a super show thing where they play all kinds of stuff.

I've apparently been in the dark for that particular item, because yesterday was the first day I've ever seen it. I'm pretty sure it was on the Travel channel or something. It's not like they're addressing an audience that necessarily has any idea at all what they're referencing.

I have to assume they do not care at all and it's the same if it had been called Lisa. Why is it called Siri? I honestly don't know. vvv Right, it's the people who know but don't care that would either be weirded out or confused. Someone completely in the dark wouldn't be confused. It's a thing with a name like Siri is.

I understand that's what's being discussed. What I'm saying is that they advertised something I ALREADY knew about, and that confluence pushed me over the edge to try something I already wanted to try but just didn't.

With regard to WoT sponsoring Idle Thumbs, I thought it was great. As I mentioned, it's something I've thought about trying for a long time. The fact that it was on Idle Thumbs plus the fact that you can Get A Thing for signing up (plus using it means advertising feedback) pushed me over the edge and I've been playing it.

Watching TV yesterday, I saw a commercial by Microsoft comparing their voice recognition helper app against Siri, showing all the things it can do that Siri can't. IT IS NAMED CORTANA.

I'm 100% sure they've confirmed it's Unity. -

Idle Thumbs 166: Cyberpunk Cop-Killer

That was great. Really well done. Super good, if I might say. -
I have been interested to try it for a while, too. I THUMBS'd it, I'll let you know when it's up and running. e: It appears that the promo code is good for 3 days of Premium account access. That's a pretty good gift! Wow, that's awesome. I feel both vindicated and enlightened for knowing this. Thanks for sharing!

Weird aside: Billy Joe's inflection during that verse was weird and for a long time I thought the lyric was "HE said my life's a bore". Because "she" was clearly enunciated the first time and wasn't the second, I thought it was a weird aside about soliciting men for sex in a song that is otherwise completely tonally absent of that. I also thought it was weird no one said anything about it.

I apologize, I try to not get too upset over things on this forum. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and open discussion is critical. That's fucking blasphemy. You're full of shit. -

I am just getting into this, started over the weekend after playing like a game in the beta. Where's a good place to go to actually learn how to play the game? I have found a couple of streamers' builds and stuff from Eurogamer for "free" decks. Some of them also list Free to Play decks, which they say cost less than X (1000, 1500, whatever). Is that in gold? Can you just straight up buy cards? I'm not entirely clear on crafting. Opening packs is random, is there a way to guarantee progress towards cheap decks (or any decks)? I'm not crazy hooked, but I do remember enjoying playing Magic 15 years ago, and some of that glimmer plus the ability to lose to decks I don't understand while lying in bed is a nice draw. Plus holy shit, when they're not trying to do grimdark fantasyanime, the aesthetic and sound Blizzard can pull off! -
There are a lots of levels of "traditional" sports that have some level of mercy rule, even up through college football. They can't forfeit because it's a timed game, but there are rules that cause the game clock to never stop during sets of downs if it gets too far out of hand.

What was the rub you used on the pork shoulder? I am all for adding and using fruit for things.

I am pretty sure that Kotick on a Plane is, taken individually, my favorite Thumbs segment of all time. Having it hilariously animated is just icing on the cake.

I think basketball isn't really a very good analogue to Dota even in the loosest sense. Over the course of the past regular season, there was no team that averaged less than a basket per minute. There are literally no basketball strategies that gamble on winning the game in the first quarter at the expense of the rest of the game. I think soccer, baseball, and hockey (to the NA audience) are better fits either in terms of game structure, flow, or strategy. Football fits if only for those instances where because the game pauses between every discrete action, you can design a play specifically to exploit something in the other team's gameplan or personnel. -

It's sports chat. Me criticizing the coach for his in-game decisions doesn't make them change, and him not changing them doesn't make me want to discuss them less. -

There are plenty of sports that have playoff series. The NHL has the best playoffs in literally all of sports because of the drama of 7 game series. Re: Games are timed - Baseball is a game without a time limit. The more you avoid making outs, the further you extend the game. Both teams start with an even playing field and the same amount of resources, and it's a game of attrition. -
The health bars exist because with different levels of abilities and weapons, people do varying levels of damage and showing that is the best way to model it. Health bars and numbers popping off are the most direct ways to provide that feedback. It's basically Borderlands in that way.

Gorgeous! I've only made homemade ravioli once, and I botched the prep. They turned out fine, but rather than laying out whole sheets, adding filling, and covering, I cut out individuals and tried to paste them together. It was awful I was the worst. I'm pretty sure you can reattach the screw to remove the clamp. I have basically that pasta maker.

I am excited to see Destiny and Divinity in the Games Discussed section. I'm only 15-20 minutes in so far. I did laugh at the intro!
