Oh they're absolutely different. For me this would be akin to saying finishing the tutorial and winning a match of DOTA is having "beaten" the game.
-
While I'll grant that you may personally be finished with the game, I can say with certainty that you haven't finished it in a weekend. The game isn't "beaten" by completing acts 1 through 5. That's just how you unlock the rest of the game. It's meant to be played for however long you want to play it, for whatever goals you set for yourself.

If you haven't played Diablo in a while, now is the time to jump back in! They made a crazy number of changes and have added things for the 2.1 patch. It's a really good game, you guys.

i understand why you feel guilty about this, but the person who started the chain of events is the person that was cheating in a relationship.

This is the first time in years I have seen or thought about a rolo. You did an awesome job. The last picture speaks volumes.

My best, closest friends live 40 minutes away, and I think the last time I saw them was at a wedding in May. We had semi-plans to meet up this week for dinner, and when I checked in he was like "oh we made other plans since we didn't hear from you". I'm so glad that my softball team is really close with each other. The coworkers at my new job have been a breath of fresh air too, even if I'm hoping it's temporary before getting something more permanent.

If Titanfall hadn't made the decision to monetize map packs I'd still be playing, possibly right now. I know it's SOP these days but it's a practice I supported once with Battlefield and refuse to do again.

I definitely can't do podcasts with DayZ. I feel like I always have to be watching and listening for something. That plus the often extremely long periods of serenity is very calming between bursts of craziness. Spelunky is a go-to for me, as well as Diablo. I'll also play some League listening to a podcast, and I haven't been playing MMOs that much but when I occasionally dip a toe in I do. Definitely can't with shooters. I'm betting grand strategy or world builders would work really well too.

Yes it's been this way forever. The Oakland Athletics? They were started as the Philadelphia Athletics in 1901, moved to Kansas City in the 1950s and have been in Oakland for over 40 years. In fact, two of the most iconic teams in baseball that are synonymous with the West coast, the Giants and Dodgers, were franchises started in New York.

Wow it's been over 2 months since I posted. I actually swapped gyms to have a power rack. I've been doing Stronglifts almost exclusively http://stronglifts.com/apps/. I started at literally "day 1" and I'm up to 170 lb squat sets and 215 deadlifts. I weighed about 245 when I started, and I'm stepping on the scale at about 230-235 these days, but I literally had people say "you work out, right?" when I started a new job. My weight hasn't changed tons but my shape has. I am hitting a wall on my overhead press, and the squats are really getting tough, but if you have access to a barbell I can 100% recommend the app and the workout to get started. I was feeling lazy about going to the gym, but I'm definitely headed there right now.

Do not do this. Definitely do not wait two weeks to do this! I have a feeling my thoughts are quite a bit more direct than other people here (actually, I know 100% they at least come off that way in my writing from literally every interaction on this forum), but I would try to tell her as directly as possible how you feel. If she's waffling over being FRIENDS, you need to have something to guide the direction you're both going. Yeah, I do think you're overthinking it. If "Hey, being friends is cool" is coming on too strong, what in the world else can you possibly do that actually moves you both forward? Handling friends meeting up for coffee (or equivalent) with kid gloves for fear of rejection or coming on too strong isn't actually friendship.

All his writing disgusts me equally.

Matt Yglesias is a person that thinks phone factories that burn to the ground and kill 200 workers are just the price of capitalism, and the biggest loss is to production.

Idle Thumbs 172: http://malaise.ennui/
Badfinger replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I'm a person that does not like to be scared, and so I just completely avoid it. I understand the tricks, and I'm just not interested in steering my emotions past them. I don't like roller coasters, either. Haunted houses in person are generally no big deal. Jake, as evidenced in the Ferguson thread, I feel exactly the same way. -
I'm beside myself. I've torn myself apart for a week straight about what's going on and what has happened in Ferguson. It's not about me. I'll be fine. I've reached a point where just "being outraged" isn't carrying any further. The only things I can do that will potentially even have any impact from where I am is call my congressmen. Once I do that, what do I do? So, humor, even if it's awful. Glad I could make someone else laugh. The British police would not have shot that man, because they can't shoot that man. Because they would be unable to threaten that man, it is less likely that he would be viewed as a threat.
-
Witness report I saw say it was a table or butter knife. it doesn't matter. As outlined above, they EXITED THE CAR WITH GUNS DRAWN. If the police were only equipped with tasers, I bet the first instinct would NOT have been to tase that man. It would have been their last option to subdue him. If all you have is a bullet hammer, everything needs bullets in it. When a man sees your gun drawn and yells to shoot, you oblige? How about saying "I'm not going to shoot you" and also not having your fucking weapon drawn.

There's been heartbreak and insanity and heroism and terror in Ferguson for more than a week now, but the fact that Nelly is in the crowd marching with them tonight has also added absurd.

My softball team is a fairly diverse group, and we joke around a lot, but I have thought about my friends on the team a lot this week. One of the guys, for the sake of discussion, is very similar to me. About the same age, same height, same build, we both have beards and short hair. I'm white and he's black. One of us has a steady job, a house, and a girlfriend. One of us would walk free if there were suspicious activities happening and we were present. Guess which is which! I feel sick. With regard to the journalists filming, from what I understand they have no legal right to be told to turn their cameras off. I have read an awful lot this week, and some of it is hazy but I'm pretty sure that's true.

http://new.livestream.com/timcast/news Two sources for a livestream from Vice News. They were caught in between police lines, escorted, and are being given a ride at the time I post this. None of the officers offered any information, but when they were told one of the journalists was from Canada they started ASKING ABOUT FUCKING HOCKEY. The misogyny is palpable.

While there is no defending the actions of the police in this instance, it is standard practice basically across the nation for any officers who are involved in a shooting incident to be placed on leave, regardless of context. I believe they also need a psychological evaluation to be put back on patrol duty in a lot of jurisdictions but I'm less sure about that. Firing a gun at a human being is a traumatic experience.
-
This is completely unreal. Feel free to forget that firing tear gas at civilians is AGAINST THE GENEVA CONVENTION and they've been doing it for a week and just focus on everything else that's horrible!

It sounds to me like you've set yourself up to have a really good time! I've actually been on dating sites on and off for years. I've been in multiple relationships that lasted more than 6 months and more than a year from people I met online. I also have some women I would call very good friends that I met online, including one I never actually dated! I have never really experienced that phenomenon, except in the last few weeks. I don't know if it's just that I'm comfortable talking through the internet and that makes me bolder than I would be in person or just so much relationship experience, but it's foreign to me. I have female friends who say the same thing happens to them, so it's not limited to one side or another. One of the ladies actually texted me about half an hour after I made my whiny post, so maybe that was unjustified!

Me too. Angst posts, ahoy. Of course you are! We all psych ourselves out. Thinking of myself in a reverse situation, I don't know that I would accept a one on one invitation if I didn't have any interest. Is it something you've done with her before? Just have a good time, be open, and save your paranoia for here. Like 4-5 days, a week of sending emails back and forth? I think this video is exceptionally relevant to embarrassing relationship moments. It helped me deal with my dumb self a few weeks ago. Vid should start at 16:05 and go to 25:00

Gormongous just be up front with her! If you really like her, tell her you really like her. If that's not what she wants, you're in the same place you were a couple of days ago except without the existential crisis and ambiguity, and that's ok. People don't snuggle up and give kisses for no reason, even if they're drunk. That's not to say her intentions vs your reading matches up, but spending time and accepting an invitation are both positive things. I know I said "just" be up front, even though that is monstrously difficult, but once the words are out in the air it's the least stressful way to be. I have been doing online dating, and I think I am being too eager to move forward lately. Ladies I was having nice conversations with disappeared instantly when I offered them my phone number. That has NEVER happened before. I wonder if I'm doing it too quickly, it's really weird.
