The point is more that there are a billion and a half people in NA, Brazil, and Europe. Scheduling games at a time where you might catch live casual viewership through word of mouth vs catering to the hardcore 50m population of Korea seems like a no brainer. They don't need to promote the image of a "global" competitive game. It's the biggest game in the entire world. There are 4 regions that have their own professional leagues. International competition has been dominated by Korea for nearly 3 years. I had the same complaint last year where they held the event in LA, but scheduled it to maximize exposure in Korea. The counterargument to mine is that LoL is actually on TV in Asia whereas it's all streams in the West.

I have watched much less competitive League this past year than previously, mostly because the EU was boring, I can't stand Phreak or Riv, and I have to pay money to listen to Doa and MC . I am paying attention though! I think the decision to play in Korean is a horrible one, frankly. Sure, it's the dominant competitive game there, but the loss of viewership from live audiences in NA and EU feels like a huge deal. I know we're a video on demand society, but my desire to watch something I watch in the same way as sports drops precipitously when it's not live. The number of potential eyes is EXPONENTIALLY higher in those regions. I'll grant that maybe Tencent knows something I don't about Chinese and SEA viewership, but from what I know about that region it still doesn't even seem close to balancing out?

Yeah, jokes about sex are funny until they're absolutely not at all funny. There's unfortunately not really a middle ground.

Foodspin might be my favorite food related website, even though it's certainly not the best one. http://foodspin.deadspin.com/who-wants-to-wear-this-uglier-than-hell-cincinnati-chil-1630996994

Nothing wrong with ground meat in chili. (The thing that is wrong with that chili is that its photo shows it over pasta, which is dangerously close to Cincinnati "chili") e: Are you talking about the one I linked? Literally the paragraph after the ground beef is the instruction to add chili peppers.

I just react with horror even when they want children. What are you doing with your life?! As someone other people ostensibly see as an adult, I'm sometimes asked if I have children. I will usually say no, I'm not even married. Occasionally I will be told "Oh, that doesn't matter." Does to me! Sometimes I will say I'm too young to have kids. I'm 31, and damn if it isn't true.

I can remember in boy scouts, at the skeet shooting range you could watch someone fire both shells, and if they were careless with where the unbreached shotgun was pointed (even though everyone knew 100% that it could not be fired again, and even if it was being pointed at the ground) everyone was instantly on alert. People who care about gun safety CARE about gun safety. Fuck, I've seen better gun discipline playing paintball.

I have an interview tomorrow for a "real job" which, if I get it, would be a 33% raise from my previous real job after the probationary period ends. I can't even calculate the percentage raise it would be over my average week at the restaurant currently. And this potential job even has performance reviews and raise structures and stuff if you do well! Wow! Crazy! Right now I am feeling confident. This is by far the closest I've come to getting back to 40 hours a week, and I'm far beyond qualified. Tomorrow I will probably be more nervous.

I'm a weird guy that loves all shellfish, adores sushi, but overwhelmingly prefer not to eat cooked fish. Smoke the salmon, leave it raw, just don't cook it ok?

http://deadspin.com/how-to-make-chili-a-guide-for-people-who-arent-anti-b-5947501 This is my favorite "how do I make chili?" chili recipe. I think the thing that brings it together is the addition of sriracha. Note: If you are a person who must have measurements for your cooking, his writing is probably not for you.

This train of thought is exactly the reason SWAT officers with leveled rifles was so incredibly abhorrent a month ago. The training is SUPPOSED to be such that if your weapon is leveled, you have deemed the use of lethal force necessary. So it should go firearm leveled -> neutralize a target, and all the situation assessment goes into the time prior to actually training your weapon on a target.

That's really unfortunate to hear. I find it hard to paint sites like that with one brush, just because they're so huge. I'll give any site that employs Jon Bois a shot. He was one of the writers of The Dugout, which is where I learned who he was and where internet chat rooms were cool within the last decade.

There can't possibly be any news that's unbiased, but it's funny you should mention the BBC specifically, as apparently their journalists were told this summer to stop giving equal air time to truther global warning wackos. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/tvandradio/bbc/10944629/BBC-staff-told-to-stop-inviting-cranks-on-to-science-programmes.html

Why would someone need extra explanation for taking a picture of a van with a wizard on it?

I can't either, but I still have one.

In 10 years, you will be shocked to realize how much of a literal baby you were at age 20. I am not casting aspersions on your maturity or comportment. I'm saying in a decade you will look back and stare at your past self agape. I wonder if there's a point in growing older where people many years your junior still seem to be contemporaries or adults to you.

I have a beard for the first time in my life this year.I use a $15 electric trimmer (that I also use to cut my hair), and then for razors I use the ones from Dollar Shave Club. So yes I use disposable razors, but I pay $6 every other month for them. I've been using them for years. They're not as good as the Gillette Fusion but they sure are like 90% cheaper! https://www.dollarshaveclub.com/ Yes I'm a sucker for advertising why do you ask?

I have plenty of beef with Middle Name Dave, however.

Idle Thumbs 173: Ridonkulous Rift

I'd argue that the most high profile Apple app denials are the exact opposite of "SJW" censorship. Corporate censorship, ho! -
Humor is my coping method for bullshit.

First off, you don't need my permission (or anyone's) to tell you when you're "actually" done this or any game. Second, my stupid semantic argument was about the word "finished". The game has adventure mode right on the mode select screen. This isn't an elitism argument, these aren't hidden features, this isn't getting 106% completion on both castles or whatever. If all you do in Diablo is play Acts 1 through 5, you literally have only played half the game modes available on the options screen in a game whose design philosophy is the campaign is your appetizer to the rest of the game. Like I said, I can understand completely that one would be finished with Diablo 3 (I have been finished with it multiple times over the last 2 years only to return), but not that you "have finished". The introduction of seasonal play has reinforced that design philosophy even more. I'm not chastising anyone for not playing more Diablo. I think it's a good game, but I've quit it enough times to understand it's eminently quittable. This is just the long form way of saying there is a hell of a lot more game in this game than calling it a day after beating all 5 acts.
-
I understand it's mostly just semantics. However, I absolutely can compare Diablo (a long form multiplayer ARTS) with DOTA! The best way I can find to compare them is that for the people who are into them the most, they aren't A game they play. It's THE game they play. They're games you get together with 3 or 4 people (often strangers) to make progress towards an common goal as a group. It's a game that's never over, so you play it in sessions. For better or worse, the game is nearly explicitly designed around the premise that Acts 1 through 5 are an extended tutorial, and that much of the interesting content is after you have unlocked adventure mode and hit level 70. It's intended to be played to an indeterminate conclusion for as long as you can create challenges for yourself. With patch 2.1 some of those like increasing rift difficulty are now fully laid out rather than implied.

You should really listen to all the episodes. You're missing out on the shitty wizard, Space Asshole, the Saitek Cyborg prelude to our all-big dog universe, and Gold Game Goldblum, among Other Hits.
