Wizard Jam - Idle Thumbs Game Jam Interest Gauge / Chit Chat corner
Badfinger replied to Dinosaursssssss's topic in Idle Banter
I certainly don't know how to use Photoshop, and my coding is limited. The biggest thing holding me back is I don't have any ideas. I've always been better at interpreting than creating- acting rather than directing, playing music rather than composing, etc. How do people come up with ideas to make stuff?! -
Are you still using the Coffee Bagel thing? I am trying it, but it keeps matching me with people who are up to two hours away. Also it seems hell bent on matching me with Jewish girls even though I didn't put in a religious preference. I don't know if it's because stereotypically of course us Jews would use the dating app that's about bagels, or if it just automatically bakes (UGH DIDN'T MEAN TO PUN) into the algorithm regardless. It takes longer than "Hi, coffee at noon?" to meet up with someone in a different state.

I have a violent negative reaction to that word and its identifiers.

HMMMM. It's a bit late to get started, but that's possibly manageable on a Friday. -
I don't have a problem with a president doing it, and I don't have an issue with a teacher either with the caveat of maintaining a safe, professional, healthy learning environment etc if there was the possibility it could interfere with teaching somehow.

I like you folks a whole bunch and my eyes have been opened and mind enlightened by a lot of the things people say and do around here, but the amount of nitpicking to find the exactly correct conjunction to use conversationally among (from the outside looking in) almost universally like-minded people is worrisome at times. Por exemplo, my usual way to address a group is "you guys", but here among other places has made me mindful that not all persons necessarily wish to be addressed as a guys even though we generally understand it to be a general term. (I'm not really comfortable with "folks" but it's a better alternative perhaps?) In some ways it's an incredibly interesting dynamic, because as open minded and progressive as almost literally everyone is around here, the community itself is quite insular. edit: I edited this post 4 times because I kept thinking of things, which probably serves to water down my initial idea horribly.

I think you just described utilizing game dev feedback as well. This is not a thing that I've developed, it's a thing I've always had. When a teacher in school would ask if there were questions, and certain people raised their hands, I'd preemptively cringe. I can't help it. I feel bad, and I know Q&A is something the GB community at large likes a great deal because of the interaction, but I think it's almost universally awful. :[ This is not a problem I have with questions read by presenters on podcasts or assorted other places you'd do that, because it's someone's question pre-screened and curated, and read in the presenter's voice.- 1367 replies

"Win Dave Lang's Money" was an incredible 7-10 minutes from their Pax East live show, which is coincidentally the entirety that I got the chance to watch live purely by chance. e: does anyone else turn off the PAX casts (and any other things, GB or no) the moment they open up the floor to do Q&A? I have this thing where I'm so profoundly bodily embarrassed for the people asking questions, I just can't do it. I have had this same thing happen to me for more than 20 years, back to when stupid made-for-teens sitcoms like Saved By the Bell(ding), Boy Meets World, and Full House existed.- 1367 replies

Folks I agree that PS+ is a good service. You don't need to convince me! My playstation is not currently even plugged in. I am trying to determine 1) If I buy Helldivers for PS3 and go to the trouble of plugging the damn thing in, would I also own it for other Sony things? (seems like yes) 2) Would I be able to play with people who aren't on a PS3? (Ok this is definite yes. Places (like wikipedia (also the purchase page)) say cross play) 3) Would I have to pay literally any dollars beyond the fee of purchasing the game to play multiplayer, regardless of the wonderfulness of spending that money? (seems like no) Source: an image on reddit http://i.imgur.com/UdfeX2c.jpg

Ok, I'm gonna go Full Grandma for a second here and ask really obvious dumb questions. After lamenting Helldivers I noticed it's also on PS3 and it's cross play/cross buy. That means that if I buy it for PS3 I will own it for all the devices it's released for? So when I inevitably break down and get a Quad I will instantly own it? And I also can play with you all on your fancy PS4s and Vitae? Additional question, is multiplayer now paywall locked for all Sony devices? That's one of the reasons I got a PS3, no additional cost multiplayer. I just don't use it enough to justify the monthly fee (YET (?)).

GOD DAMMIT AXIOM VERGE IS SONY EXCLUSIVE, TOO. I thought I was done with consoles.

Helldivers looks awesome but not $400+$Helldivers+$10/mo perpetually awesome. I guess I could break out my PS3, but then I'd have to set up a PS3?

Years ago my family adopted a cat who had been hit by a car (they think) who had his back quarter shaved and had a pin in his leg to repair it surgically. He was named Peg-Leg Louie and he was the best. The point of this story is you better come up with a good name for that owl.

The Eagles just released and traded two of the biggest names on the roster. It is blowing up all over the place here, and they now have $50m+ in cap room. This shit is essentially bananas.

I desperately want to play Helldivers. I loved me some Magicka. Why must it be Sony Exclusive. :[

Head's up, that link doesn't go anywhere Kaputt. Is this the one you were linking? http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-hands-on-with-the-near-final-project-morpheus

As weird as it sounds, not having a camera keeps me from streaming sometimes. The backdrop is awful, and often times I'm sharing the room. Plus I don't have two monitors (space issue), so I can't have chat and a game open at the same time. I dunno maybe I'll move soon and this will be easier!

Brad's always been like that. It takes longer than 2 minutes for him to mention that Journey uses 3rd person in a 3D world. "The end is where the end is." Brad IS the straight man, or at least he used to be. The "issue" is that he's not as good at hosting as Ryan was. The thing is that no one is as good a host as Ryan was. Jeff's probably the best choice, but Jeff works best in the role of being asked things rather than asking, and bouncing off another personality, which used to be Vinny. Brad's also always the one who will fight to the death for games. His crusades in the GOTY podcasts are half a decade old. He's just not that good at articulating himself in person. I feel his pain sometimes, honestly.- 1367 replies

This is a truly random thought. With all the talk about infinifactory and besiege on various 'casts, I was trying to find the music that Looney Tunes used under building infernal contraptions or conveyor belts and that sort of thing. Unfortunately you can't type in "bwa bwa bwaaaa, ba da dada da dah" into youtube. Thankfully a cool twitter person helped me find it. And then I found guys playing it on harmonicas. The size and variety of harmonicas raises more questions than it answers for me, frankly.

Hello, the GB discussion of their D&D campaign directed me over here. I don't know if this is something I will be able to do, but at least consider this an expression of interest if I need to be poked and prodded to participate.
