  1. I Had A Random Thought...

Yeah it's mostly an advanced setting slider to see how much blood you can squeeze out of the rock before it gets mad at you and demands to be squeezed less or made happy in other ways.
  2. Idle Food - Cooking!

I was just excited enough about it that I wanted to show off a trip report. No gadget shaming here. I was definitely on the fence of buyer's remorse, thinking about all the dumb kitchen gadgets one could buy and not use, and if this would be one of them. Then I used it three times this weekend. It's grown on me incredibly quickly. I'll have to cook some veggies to see how they do, because I'm curious how they come out. Tried some eggs, it was very weird. The white was softer than the yolk. Not bad, but a different experience.
  3. Cities: Skylines

    That is incredible.
  4. Cities: Skylines

I'm trying to build the incoming road as an overpass and then build off of that but I'm really bad at it? I am just trying to avoid horrible traffic problems to start the game and I don't know how really.
  5. Didactic Thumbs (Pedantry Corner)

Back me up or shut me down please, Thumbs. When we have orders that need to be picked from a long time ago that we need to go back to, they will reissue the same list from a previous date. So for example if we sent 3 widgets and the customer said a widget was broken from that order and we need to send one more, we will often use that same order rather than creating a new one. The Customer Service team will sometimes write "For Reference Only" on those sheets, which makes me confused. When I read that, my brain interprets that as "take a look at this but don't do anything with it", whereas they are intending it to mean "fill this order" somehow. Who has the meaning right of us, if anyone? Am I right to be a pedant about this?
  6. Meow.

I think this is a picture I've posted before, but now there's a cat thread so cats. Here are my "nephew" and "niece", my sister's cats Jack and Maude. Or as she calls them, Bean and Lil' Dummy. She names and then instantly nicknames every animal and some non-animals. Do you all have layers of names and nicknames for your cats?
  7. Meow.

Winston likes sitting in the tub, not being disturbed in the sun, eating, and eating.
  8. Idle Food - Cooking!

I just did this really simply. Salt and pepper, seared for a minute on each side with butter basting (which I've never done before but isn't particularly complicated). Oven baked potato and veggies to finish the plate. Really happy with how it turned out for firing it up after work the day of delivery.
  9. Idle Food - Cooking!

It's here! It's slick as hell and the app is neat. First test: cooking some big-ass steaks.
  10. Meow.

I'm in it for the cat pictures.
  11. Cara is one of my secret internet crushes, so having her guest star on my secret internet crush podcast is amazing! Great episode. I got the pun of s.exe but I didn't know how to say it out loud. Master.bat is excellent.
  12. Nevermind, you're looking for the Meow thread.

This thread has pictures, I'm voting with my eyes. Those are beautiful cats, and also really good pictures. I had a cat with similar patterning to Mangus. Miss him. I was going to post pictures as well but it appears my phone is having trouble. Pictures forthcoming.
  13. Life

What do you mean feel bad? They are #blessed.
  14. Cities: Skylines

I did it. I was up past 12:30 playing last night. My city is probably bad because it's all built around tiny roads but man it's fun.
  15. Unreal Tournament (The new one)

The rocket launcher alt fire is different, the link gun is a tractor beam now, the minigun performs differently, there's no ripper, the enforcer alt fire changed, the bio rifle has a new additional fire mode! Basically the only weapons they haven't messed with are the shock rifle and the flak cannon. That's objectively correct to do, because why mess with perfection?
  16. Life

My cat woke me up at 5:30 this morning because I thought he was throwing up on my bed! (He was throwing up on the floor) Then since I was awake, he was pestering me. When I snuggled him off the bed his claw clipped my pinky so I have a fun half inch cut to go along with all my other nicks and bruises. Ever since I bought an automatic dispenser, our relationship has been so much better. I can let him sleep on the bed without him waking me up, or spend time being swatted and cried at for dinner when I get home (since it feeds him before I arrive). Thankfully it's basically the correct amount of food dispensed and I didn't have to tinker with it much. Fat kitty has been on a diet basically since I got him. I have a date on Saturday! I have been dating plenty off and on for the past year, but when I asked her for some reason I was extremely nervous, and relieved/excited when she said yes. I hope that's a good thing. I'm really pumped.
  17. Life

Thief of Time was my first Pratchett novel, so thank you for conjuring that memory. I am sad to hear of his passing, but at the same time knowing how he was dealing with Alzheimer's I also feel happy he's gotten relief. Discworld was, and is, important.
  18. I wondered if that was you! Good email, nice job. After this week I wanted to write to them about what an old video game player looks like, because my dad plays more games than all of us.
  19. Are you posting from 2008, or as I like to call it, The First Age of Extreme?
  20. Yeah this episode was interesting for learning even more crazy stories about how Dan leads a charmed life and will never die, but not great for receiving usable advice.
  21. Intoxicated:

I really, really like Macallan, all varieties. It's really expensive, so this isn't just "try a bottle!" but if you remember liking a smooth and delicious scotch this is probably similar. I like Kraken for dark rums. It's about the only one I can stand, I'm not much of a rum drinker. I do also like a Dark and Stormy, which is Gosling Rum and ginger beer (with a dash of bitters if you're fancy that way).
  22. Cities: Skylines

This looks incredible, and it's only $30. I'm just afraid I'll do the thing that I always do, which is spend money with enthusiasm and then go back to playing the 2-3 games I'm currently playing already.
  23. Idle Food - Cooking!

I COULDN'T CONTAIN MYSELF AND I BOUGHT IT HELP
  24. Life

To be honest I think that's because the wild majority of people in the US report as Christian. It's gonna happen. I just searched another site for jewish ladies within 25 miles from me in my age range and there were 9. I've definitely gotten more than 9 bagels, so I was curious.
  25. Idle Food - Cooking!

Oh my I was just thinking about sous vide yesterday. This might push me over the edge.
