  1. Life

I don't, because I do not consider it ethical or healthy to make such sweeping lifestyle decisions for them while they are under my power. Further, a balanced diet with a evolutionarily sensible amount of meat in it (i.e. once a week or so) is probably healthier for them, though I'm sure the difference is minimal because I pay a lot of attention to eating healthy already.
  2. Life

Definitely true for me with a lot of the more complex programming or design problems I run into. I've woken up with the solution in my mind so often! Of course that only happens after putting in a bunch of seemingly dead-end work on the previous day, but still.
  3. Life

All-nighters are so dumb. I'm very glad I realised this at some point and started planning better. (Sorry man, I've been there. Learn from it!)
  4. Non-Violent Video Games

I'm just glad technology has advanced to the point that Rocksmith got made which is the game I wanted all along (though the interface could do with improvement).
  5. Episode 215: Early Access

I will definitely second the misgivings caused by getting into the Sins of a Dark Age beta early. Man that was a chore to play - 90% cloned from League of Legends except for their snappy control and readable graphics. I wonder if it's improved any. At least it has one semi-unique selling point now, the quest system.
  6. Things That Improve Your Life

This is kind of ancillary to the cheese discussion, but have you guys tried seitan? one of my favourite protein meaty thingies, with Quorn a close second (though that has egg in it for you vegans).
  7. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

I wouldn't say this to be the case for Gatsby at least. I think I know the type of book you mean, but isn't that just a subset of all truly great books? Where does personal taste begin ti factor into this?
  8. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

I would not call either of those things the core of being a challenging read, rather peripheral properties. In the case of Wolf Hall I would not call it a challenging book, because there is very little required of the reader besides keeping a lot of historical figures in their head. The main character is eminently likeable, very little goes wrong for him after the first part of the book and in general it's just a pleasant, smooth experience that does not require or stimulate one to re-evaluate anything about themselves or the human experience in general. Note that I don't exclude the possibility of this happening (I know it was a wonderful reminder to me that people always have been and always will be people, with all their typical interactions). I anticipate that the trilogy as a whole will be truly great.
  9. Life

As a vegetarian in the Netherlands, Englands is pretty much the only other country I've been to that offers a comparable variety of options when eating out.
  10. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Please tell me you streamed/recorded this. Also, may we have the match ID pretty please?
  11. Episode 213: On Campaign

I think we understand each other
  12. Episode 213: On Campaign

That's true of course - but is that what most people look for in a game? A challenge? Maybe not of this type at least. Put another way: Of my friends who play computer games (most of us in our 30s) practically nobody plays anything except campaigns and coop vs. AI. Up to and including Lords Management games. This makes for a relaxing, unsurprising game where the challenge is one you know intimately beforehand, and there is zero risk of getting stomped or yelled at. Smooth out the peaks and valleys for a stolen hour or so. This goes a bit beyond the original subject of campaigns of course. One of the main reasons I expect campaigns tend to get such short shrift despite them being the majority of what the actual audience tends to play is that the designers of strategy games tend to be passionate players who love the PvP challenges that humans supply. There is little overlap between the interests and tastes of the players and the designers.
  13. Episode 213: On Campaign

A vast majority of players disagree, as far as I'm aware. Hence the skew in most RTS games towards people who don't do PvP. I know that for me, I mind being inferior (ie. losing) to a human a lot more than vs. a machine.
  14. Plug your shit

This was not a competition, just honest feedback. No need to get defensive about it. I guess I misunderstood your intent when posting that link.
  15. Plug your shit

This is not intended rudely, but maybe you should have someone proofread those. I spotted quite a few grammatical errors/typos. A few on re-scanning: It's no secret that game sales have been going down hill for over a year now -> downhill But most every sequel in games has gotten worse -> almost Elderscrolls -> two words Much of the industry has managed to make a worse and worse and worse games -> remove 'a' etc.
  16. Dishonored - or - GIFs By Breckon

I'm enjoying the heck out of the new DLC. It's interesting how booting up Dishonored again felt; like slipping on an old glove or a comfortable robe.
  17. SMITE

I'm afraid I haven't started this game in ages (simply not enough hours in the day for all the games I'd like to play and then multiplayer stuff that demands a bunch of time investment to be competent falls by the wayside quickly) so I can't really tell you how things are these days. There is a fair amount of good streamers though, you can learn a lot from watching them play one or two games. http://www.twitch.tv/smitegame http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Smite
  18. The only time achievements have been relevant at all to my life in the past year or so was when they irritated the heck out of me for interrupting my time with Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite with their bloody stupid popups.
  19. Hahahaha, that is amazing.
  20. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

Play some Crusader Kings 2 and you'll have it worked out in no time
  21. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

    Awesome.
  22. Wolf Hall by Hilary Mantel

I absolutely adore this book. I had to put it down for a bit when (does it make sense to put spoilers about history?) . Gorgeous writing. The 'he' being always Cromwell unless indicated otherwise took some getting used to but I found it really kept my attention with what was going on, which I think might have been a net positive.
  23. Castle of Illusion HD

Not much to add to this. Good grief.
  24. That's the same guy who is of the opinion that Crysis 3 is more fun than the first one right? Yeah.
