Thank you. That was driving me nuts.

Not a big fan of Faith's visual 'upgrade' I have to say. I liked her rough edges and angles in the original. Reminds me of this kerfuffle.

This seems relevant.

We have a boardgame afternoon/evening planned the 7th of july if that floats your boat. I'm not very mobile at the moment what with my two little ones being a bit much to handle for my wife for an entire day so I'm unlikely to make any meetup in the south.

Huh, I was going to make a snarky post about e e cummings being capitalised, but lo and behold. Facts! e: holy shit, what an article. Thanks for the link

Damn, NA is actually looking interesting this half of the season! Hope they keep it up. I'm rooting for Velocity because Studio is coaching them and he is awesome.

The easiest way out is just to be gallant to men as well. That's my solution anyway. Bonus: if they get insulted or weirded out you've just found out more about that person.

I hope that balances Twig's depression out a bit!

There's a bunch of CCG-like stuff on the horizon. Cardhunter, a mix between CCG and tactical miniatures game is currently in beta. I find it quite enjoyable, though a bit grindy and the variety leaves something to be desired. The kickstarter for Hex was successful, and the game looks pretty interesting. The PA guys (or Jerry at least) liked it. Includes drafts! Scrolls just entered open beta. Also a CCG/tactical battle hybrid.

I don't know how else to even interpret the idea of mailing a box around that punches the receiver in the face. That's not cynical, just taking what you say literally. What else did you mean?
-
So the idea is to hurt people serially? That seems the opposite of worthwhile.

Idle Thumbs 106: Imagine the Man

Of course, but my point was that the game actually has done a fair bit of hinting what the solution is, ie. get all up that grill/boss crotch. The hydra fight is especially analogous in my mind. I mean, I see why that situation will kill you if you don't see it coming. But I definitely don't agree that it's impossible to figure out what to do, or even counter-intuitive given the slow speed of the arrows. -

Huh, I always end up just either parrying the dude on the right or blocking until he falls to his death. Oh, and once I just combustioned his ass on a high-poise pyromancer. I dunno, the archer bit just never struck me as especially dificult compared to some other parts. A lot of it may be playstyle. -
Oh, it is! It needs a new peripheral though.

I would not say it's counter-intuitive at all given the amount of training the game has given you up until this point about how getting in close is almost always a winning move. I like your essay! The connection to Half-Life 1 (and not its sequel to me) rings very true, both in its continuity (almost unprecedented when it came out) and the feeling that you are exploring a complex, real space. Good stuff. -
I thought meeting Daud again was a great part of the denouement, as was visiting the much-mentioned drowned district. I will grant you that the 'twist' felt a bit unnecessary though, and I found the very final level to be rather unenjoyable compared to the rest. That still made it immensely fun though, just a it less so. Also, congrats on the daughter, they're fun aren't they? My 2.5-year old loves Proteus.

Episode 219: Meeting of the Minds
osmosisch replied to Rob Zacny's topic in Three Moves Ahead Episodes
It's kind of fun, but I personally gave up on it pretty quickly because I found the campaign didn't capture my interest and I didn't have the patience to wait for other people to make their moves. Maybe I'll buy some friends copies once a sale hits and try to do some coop. -

I find that spot hilarious because I heard so many people bitching about it before I got there myself that I was overloaded with both fear and tips on how to deal with it, and ended up acing it on my first go. Never gave me any trouble on subsequent characters either. The cathedral rafters are my nemesis though, goddamn. -
Good god man, you must be a hoot and a half at parties.

Oh, sorry, yeah, I meant once you've read enough skills/items that you feel somewhat comfortable with that. But once you feel ready to actually try playing the game, don't bother with the bots because it is much more worthwhile to give the automatcher enough data to put you with people at your own level. It's also much more educational because you will see people do all kinds of weird shit that bots would never do.

Yes, I want you, too.

I don't see why anyone would make yet another Warhammer 40k ripoff after Starcraft and Eldar Scrolls.
