Does anyone know if Kafka on the Shore is representative of Murakami's work? Because I really did not enjoy that book.

I hate all those PvP conversation games. Conversations are more fun coop.

This game was 100% what I wanted/expected. Plenty of quibbles, none of which actually negatively impacted my overall enjoyment. All the kickstarter stuff I backed has been great fun so far!

A lot of people say the Souls games are hard, but I feel that's a misnomer - it's more that, as you started out complaining about, they are unforgiving. Once you get the right playstyle you can get through most of the game without too many deaths. It's getting to that point that takes patience and practice.

As far as I'm aware he/his followers mainly cribbed from Mithraism.

Idle Thumbs 116: Ragnar Calls it Quits
osmosisch replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I think if you like Wolf Hall you're not unlikely to enjoy GoT. Huge cast of characters, lots of medieval intrigue... eh. Martin's not even remotely as subtle as Mantell of course. -
Gravity's Rainbow and Ulysses are the only books I can remember just giving up on. I tend to stick things out.

The Idle Book Log: unofficial recommendations for forthcoming Idle Thumbs Book Clubs.
osmosisch replied to makingmatter's topic in Books
I think the thumbs would get a huge kick out of Stoner. It's commonly described as a perfect novel, and I'm inclined to agree. -
It's some of the most 'adult' fantasy that I've read (in the proper sense of the word, ie. dealing with grown-up feelings). I've read and re-read the first three books about once every 3 years since I was 12 and I discover new things to feel every time as I age.

That's pretty much the same as Infiltration except in Infiltration there's no direct risk from the dungeon because Donald X hates player elimination. I like it a lot.

This is exactly what I came here to ask for after having just finished this book. Man, I can't believed I missed so many of those puzzles/hints. Kind of feeling bad about myself, but great about the book.

Dota Today 6: The Hoove Oeuvre, with Greg Kasavin
osmosisch replied to Nick Breckon's topic in Dota Today Episodes
I think they specifically said to join the idlethumbs channel and ask there. The Last Baron is apparently also an entryway into the guild. -
I like it! Positive: I really like like the dynamism of the darker brushstrokes on the floor. The scene is instantly recognisable. Especially the horned demon's skull and axe are really well-defined for how few strokes you needed. Negative: I'm not a fan of the light blur at the top, it contrasts too strongly with the quick, harsh brushwork, adding a note of artificiality that detracts from the whole. I would have used a separate colour palette for the background and the horned demon. Now he melds into the background too much. Super-minor quibbles The position of the fireball on the hand isn't quite how I recall it in-game It would have been awesome to have the fireball illuminate the right side of the character a bit.

The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite
osmosisch replied to Sean's topic in Multiplayer Networking
It just autojoins the channel for me so even though I'm in there I might not be actually active in the channel if you see what I mean. I'm just doing noob queue games at the moment anyway, even though they are terrible and filled with smurfs. Hopefully losing a bunch will get me with players more my level. -
Trip report: great success! A++ would be carried by again.

I feel like a bitcoin miner with all these programs running doing nothing.

If you want Dark Souls guided tour done right, the SA LP is amazing. http://lparchive.org/Dark-Souls/ The players in the know only really step in to keep things going when necessary and the rest is fun banter. In the beginning there's some rotating casters some of whom aren't that good, but towards the middle they really get into a groove. Best part is that doing the LP helped Vicas cope with chemo.

I agree with the point that yes, fuck platforming now and forever amen.

The water rising bit is where I clocked out as I recall.

I wouldn't be surprised if they go up to much higher than 30 in the long run, given that they will become stuff collectors want eventually.

I reinstalled this and am getting more and more into it. Do I have you on steam yet?

At least your country is awesome in other ways! If you want a no-fuss stock Android experience that leaves the Nexus 3 or 4 as options then, or are those also not available? I'm extremely happy with my Nexus 3 for what it's worth.
