Bloodborne (Dark Souls 2 successor (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor)))

I found a friend to go 50/50 with over a PS4 purchase so I think I'm going to pull the trigger. Between us we hopefully will use the machine more than it would otherwise be used. -
My 2- and 4-year old daughters love the crap out of Pole Riders. I'm not super happy about the jumping on each other's heads part but the bizareness and weird physics are endlessly entertaining to both them and me.

To be clear, my complaint is that he's done so little to fix the place, rather than start it in the first place. The consequences were obviously unpredictable, but a decade of virtual inaction is way beyond the pale. You don't let a sewage tank in your back yard continuously overflow just because the garbage is only going to your neighbours. Fix it or nuke it. e: I also don't think you enjoying your time there is a particularly redeeming feature; there's tons of great boardgame communities out there in my experience. That you happened to end up at 4chan smacks more of a coincidence than an inherent virtue of the place.
-
Of course a lot of this is speculative, but my point is more that it's not silly to think that way any more than the opposite in my opinion. The way for example in which GG operates is something that's very much an exponent of chan culture and tactics. Sock puppetry is an inherent consequence of anonymous posting and/or lax admins and easy account creation. One of the reasons I only frequent these forums and SA are the active removal of toxic elements and high barrier to entry in the case of SA.
-
I think it's alot more complex than that. A safe, large and public haven for misbehaviour is more than a symptom. The fact that similar issues pop up in other places points at a common problem, but I do not believe that this common problem is unrelated to 4chan's existence as a figurehead.

Things to disagree with in your post: - people aren't to a significant degree product of their environment - if x didn't do [horrible thing] someone else would have - if you do a shitty thing as a teenager you are then not allowed/able to stop doing that shitty thing

Cara Croft

I've been a fan of Cara for a while now, and having her on was amazing. It especially made me realise how much I enjoy hearing a more European perspective on things being articulated to the US thumbs, because it's so often the things I wish I could pop in to say. That's not meant as a criticism but more that Cara is a soothing balm for a persistent itch I didn't realise was bothering me. More please!

Haha, game night for me means boardgames or PC LAN (each their own screen) and I've never really enjoyed film nights so I guess I'm just weird.

Switching the TV on when people come over is such an alien idea to me. What's the point of having people over if you're not going to directly interact with them? And if you're going to interact with them, what is the visual/noise distraction for?

We're also low on space. My solution will probably be to start getting rid of the ones we rarely play https://www.polaroidblipfoto.com/entry/2003505645201916197

It's worth noting in that context that Terry's version was a rare, different one that affected the body more than the mind. I'm going to miss him so much, though his last couple of books felt rather cranky, for lack of a better word.

As far as I'm concerned, misinformation and propaganda are unethical at the very best and criminal at worst. The torture example can lead to a loss of life in a very real way. The responsibility for effects of communication largely lie with the communicator, not the recipient in my opinion.

Mr. Spector has a much longer face.

@Problem machine, yeah let's drop it. Mostly nitpickery anyway. I disagree with some stuff you say but not in a particularly interesting manner. The most clear recent example of art's influence in my mind is 24's pernicious influence on US policy after 9/11

I think we're both confused by each other at this point, haha. The way I see it is: You were talking about data, ie. facts (frequencies, the things which measurably happened), at which point it's not yet statistics in the sense of probabilities. Those are the result of the analysis of data. Choosing whether to analyse the data in terms of a linear series of dependent events is quite different from lumping events together into one big event as far as I'm aware. It's frequently done this way, but that's a simplifying assumption which is only rarely actually appropriate to my (admittedly detail-oriented, connectionist) view.

Er, no, aggregates are never a representation, the'yre an approximation.

I think Blambo's response (previous page) still pretty much covers it. Douching is traditionally more associated with feminine hygiene to my knowledge.

I got into this so much over my holidays that I actually quit the IT clan to play with some RL friends in their clan. Don't be strangers though! Osmosisch#2711. Always happy to boost someone or dash through rifts/bounties/whatever. (PC) Vacuum condemn crusader is friggin' hilarious. I also really dig the season system, and the rifts.

Idle Thumbs 199: Bogost in the Shell

It's clear by now you don't like him, no need to belabor the point. Killfiling should extend to refraining from commenting as well, I think. -
Great to see you starting to cook Twig, it's a great way to improve one's life in may ways

I can't even imagine trying to play this with a controller. Snap aim is such a boon.

Done and done. Also my sinister plot to get more Idle friends advances apace
