  1. I see "Betrayal" is on the list of games discussed - is that a malapropism for "Betrayer" or is it about an entirely different game?
  2. Far Cry 2

I don't think a bloodless glorification of violence is the Far Cry 2 of movies. The only thing the two have in common as far as I can tell is that there's a lot of yellow. Even in terms of "this movie is sort of set in the same place as Far Cry 2," Blood Diamond is a far better movie for that. The actual Far Cry 2 of movies would be something like Fight Club: it actually has a pretty subversive message that most people miss (although in Far Cry 2 they miss it and hate it, whereas in Fight Club the miss it and love it). Or (perhaps even better?) Collateral, which makes you feel super uncomfortable about violence in the trappings of an action film. There are probably even better examples but I can't think of any right now.
  3. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Objective Game Reviews is a review website with occasional feature articles, not a news site!
  4. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Fixed it, thanks. I've never heard someone say "graph" to mean "paragraph."

  6. BioShock Infinite

Yeah, back when it existed only in our imaginations based on the trailers we'd seen.
  7. GDC '14: With Tom Francis

You forgot to bleep out "Firewatch" again, Chris!
  8. Since I made a thread for this game over at the SomethingAwful forums I decided to reuse some assets and redo the OP on these forums here, too, so enjoy your fancy new OP, thread!
  9. BioShock Infinite

Yeah, BI is basically the apotheosis of AAA FPS games. It literally killed Irrational. Millions of dollars dumped into something with about as many moving parts as Call of Duty. Not the way we would've expected immersive sims to go...
  10. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Stage 3 of Objective Game Reviews has been launched: the site now has a new feature, "Subjective Reviewer of the Month." Check out the first subjective reviewer of the month, Carolyn Petit.
  11. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

I saw that too. If you can't take helpful criticism like that in stride then you aren't going to last long on the Internet.
  12. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Also if one of you posted this thread in the QT3 thread, please don't do that anymore. It's funnier if people don't know it's a joke. edit: small addition to the site, linked from the "About" page right now.
  13. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Gratifyingly, the site keeps getting linked/referenced all over the Internet: in this Quarter to Three thread and the comments section of this Giant Bomb Infamous review, for instance. Grassroots publicity!

  15. Reading about Games

I think learning to make arguments without sounding like you think your interlocutors are idiots is a very valuable skill.

  19. ObjectiveGameReviews.com - A Subtle Journey of Discovery

Desktop Dungeons is the third game to feature an Objective Game Reviews blurb on its Steam storefront page!!!! Now that the site has three featured blurbs I think I'm going to make a "games that blurb us on Steam" page for the site so I can passive aggressively pressure other devs into featuring the site on their Steam page.
  20. Titanfall

Are there guns that do require accuracy at point-blank range?
  21. Feminism

One of the most annoying things is that Valve is usually generally somewhere between fairly good and quite good when it comes to how they portray women in their games, but Dota 2 inherited Blizzard's shitty fucking character design, and Blizzard has never met a woman who, in their eyes, wouldn't be improved if her breasts got larger and her costume got skimpier.
  22. hey folks im really excited about this video game
