It's not that his motivations are unclear, just that they lack any depth. Maybe some (any) clarity on the war and the peace treaty would have helped. What caused a war that's gone on for a thousand years and why did Ronan find the treaty so unacceptable? If it's just that Ronan is a war crazed maniac, why are the rest of the Kree government cool with him going around committing mass murder left and right and in the process jeopardizing this obviously very big deal treaty? I didn't bring the Thanos thing up because I didn't want to seem more negative on the movie than I am, but yeah he was a total throwaway character. Spoiler I guess?

Is it ever implied that there are people that eat Pokemon? -
I was a little disappointed with Guardians. The plot was sooo paper thin and they devoted too little time to developing it and the characters, and too much time to the action, which seemed to take up like 90% of the runtime. I would have liked to have seen more non-action interplay between the guardians and also maybe have a little bit of an understanding as to what the main villain's deal was. There were a lot of fun moments in the movie and I really liked the tone of it but I guess I left wishing it had a bit more substance.

Gaming News and Reviews Sites

I only follow a few places. Joystiq to get what is basically a feed of press releases and zeitgeisty stuff, and Giant Bomb for long videos and dumb entertainment. I used to follow RPS, but I found the writing style in a lot of their articles annoying and eventually gave up on it. Other than that I just check a few forums and twitter which combine to do a decent enough job of highlighting articles or games I might have missed otherwise. -
Yeah I have the same approach. The only time I'll wait around is if there's a vault on the Moai Head level and I have the Ankh. For some reason I like suiciding by leaping straight into the ghost. For anyone hesitant to start doing the dailies, my advice is to just go for it because nothing's made me laugh more than a sudden, stupid death in a daily challenge (the earlier the better).

Yeah when I was playing every day I found myself doing the alternate routes more as well. Especially the mothership because you get that sweet blaster from it. Of course it usually killed me on the next level...

At that point I guess you can start more aggressively ghosting gems to pump up your score. Kinda boring though...

I like to do the daily when I have spare time, which hasn't been much lately. I find the fact that a game at most takes 45min comforting for sure. Necrodancer looks cool, but I'll probably wait until it's finished to pick it up.

Idle Thumbs 169: On Blade
Professor Video Games replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I thought the ad read was fine. Where you can get into murky waters is if you guys wanted to talk about the game outside of the ad space (probably not an issue with world of tanks). If anyone genuinely enjoys the game, the discussion is tainted by the possibility of advertiser influence, whether it's there or not. And even if you shit all over it, well then at best it's awkward and I know I'd feel a little strange trashing a game I just told listeners to check out. These kinds of things don't matter for other sponsors. If Chris actually hated those wasabi peas from Naturebox, who really cares. This isn't a podcast about healthy snacks. Weirdly, this kind of thing bothers me less with normal ads on game sites. Maybe because there is a clearer delineation between the ads and the people producing the actual content? I dunno... -

I know nothing about this...what's the story? -
No, the movie had pretty much zero parallels to my life and I felt exactly the same way about the ending. Still a good flick despite that...

So Velvet Sundown's innovation in the context of what the game industry is doing right now basically makes it the Citizen Kane of games right? It's finally happened! -

I guess I see their logic. The raids are supposed to be really hard, require a lot of cooperation, etc, so playing with random people might be a frustrating experience, but none of my actual friends are gonna have this game and regardless of that, coordinating multi-hour play sessions among six adults is, in my experience, freaking hard. But who knows, maybe I'll find five Internet best friends with schedules identical to mine and this will be great. Or maybe they'll just add matchmaking later...

I'm pretty sure the doctor guy mentions he's unlikely to be able to save the eye. I'll bet it's looking GROSS under that bandage. Can we speculate on the next episode? Should that sort of thing be spoilered?
