Yeah this movie is really good. That opening party scene is hypnotic.

His frustrations with the reward system are right on. Patrol missions are by far the most boring part of the endgame and yet they reward just as well as strikes plus they're quicker to get through. It does get me excited for the raids though...I'm not much for farming but hopefully I get up to 26 someday along with a critical mass of people here to make a go of it.

The NPC inventory is explicitly listed out, so it's not a chance of a high value return. You know exactly what you'll get. Engrams are drops from enemies or crucible/mission rewards that have a chance of being a variety of things when "decoded".

The last legendary engram I got (during that brutal heroic strike from last week) ended up giving me a couple motes of light. I don't even know if that would be considered good or bad...

The thing with shield/life is that if you are damaged to less than 1/3 health, then first it only recharges to 1/3 and there's a few second delay before the remaining 2/3 fills. I assume that's what the dual bar thing is trying to convey. Maybe they cut a lot of story content to meet their release date? The amount of missing exposition is just too large.

Yeah it doesn't really matter to me how good the narrative rationale around that outfit is. It was still a conscious choice on their part to go that route and every time I see her it kinda bums me out. It's too bad too because the gameplay looks really cool.

I saw someone running around with this Splinter Cell looking helmet the other day. Pretty neat. Though the fact that he already had 13 strange coins to buy it over last weekend is...unsettling.

In PvP levels with lots of cramped spaces the shotgun may win out since it lacks the charge time...otherwise it's fusion rifle all the way. My main gun has been an auto-rifle with good stability. I think if I find a pulse rifle with a good impact rating I may give it a shot, but I primarily stick with auto because my aim isn't great so the constant stream of bullets helps me out a bit. I'm curious to try out the hand cannon in PvP, but again my bad aim makes me hesitant.

That exact thing happened to me yesterday too. I went into PvP with this gun you get when you finish the "story" and got completely wrecked. And when I went to switch to an auto-rifle I was ok with before, I realized I'd probably dismantled it. Luckily, I had actually stored it away in my vault...a big relief. The PvP stats are right there though. I found a reddit thread that explained it well enough...the impact rating is the base damage and the attack number is the modifier based on level and strictly for PvE. So essentially just look at the bars for PvP and ignore the other stuff. Yeah I hit two public events yesterday while patrolling the Moon (a ridiculous thing to type out) and got one Strange Coin and I think one Ascendant Energy. I too have no idea what that stuff is for. Probably some gear upgrade? Totally unrelated but I got a purple armor shader last night that I tried using and my Warlock armband now has sweet glowing neon trim. Despite its flaws, I think this game kinda has me in its clutches now...

Ok so you aren't really bound to a faction. I've noticed that the PvP types have different factions associated with them. Any idea how that plays in?

First I want to echo that the systems in this game aren't explained well at all. The multitude of currencies and factions are both confusing and overwhelming at the start, made worse by the fact that they're meaningless (but visible) until very late in your character progression. I assume once I hit 20 I'll have the option to pick a faction? I'm level 19 and I still don't know what to do with this Spinmetal I got at level 5... Regarding weapons, I've actually been using the fusion rifle a lot lately. The range/power ratio is a big draw...you don't have to get in as close as shotguns while still having the ability to take down people in one burst. It just takes some time to get used to the charge-up time. Anyway, I'm still having a lot of fun with this. The PvP feels really good, despite the fact that I'm not very good at it and I'm still enjoying shooting baddies in PvE. Coop helps a lot there not even just because it's fun to play with other people, but because the combat is more interesting when there's someone else there for the enemies to react to and they have their own powers and abilities to throw into the mix. Sad that the story is so...nonexistent?

This is a man who still drinks 40s and considers anything but Bud to be garbage fancy beer. He's a monster. And he got an A in a class he never attended by showing the prof a video he made for doing power hours (a drinking game). Those stories both really irritated me. I am Frank Grimes and he is Homer Simpson. Sigh...he's going to be the first man on Mars isn't he?

The guy is basically a 12 year old in a 30 year old's body. Like I'm pretty confident he would argue cheese wiz is better than any real cheese. But at least when it comes to video games he's got an enthusiasm that I think the GB crew really needed once Vinny left. Everything about him outside of games is both baffling and infuriating though.

Once in college, while I was studying abroad, a friend of mine found an apartment for us to split the next semester. It was very cheap but turns out also unbelievably infested with cockroaches! I'm helping here right?

Personally, I like Feathers (relatively expensive) and Astra Platinums. I really like shaving with a safety razor but I will say it takes way longer. Gotta whip up shaving cream, it takes multiple passes to get a really close shave, and you can't just mindlessly drag the razor across your face. On the bright side though, I can get a way better/closer shave with less irritation, even the expensive blades are cheap compared to Mach 3s, and there are all sorts of fancy shaving creams out there that are awesome.

It seems crazy to me that the Grimoire cards are only available on the website. Why not let me read them in game?

This echoes my thoughts pretty much exactly. I played Borderlands 1 and got tired of it quickly because I found the combat so boring (didn't help that the humor didn't really work for me). I was thinking about it while playing last night...this is the kind of game I could just sit down and play for a few hours, level up my robo-wizard a bit and maybe get some cool new gear for him (ie run on the RPG treadmill a bit), and most importantly have some very satisfying Halo style combat. Definitely total comfort food. I'll have to try the open Fire Team...I missed the first day so I'm a bit behind the curve level-wise and haven't been able to team up with anyone here. On the bright side, I've got a cool new white DS4 now!
