It bothers me more than it should that all these French dudes have British accents.

Idle Thumbs 184: Super Pools 'n' Ghosts
Professor Video Games replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Knuckles needs to quit skipping leg days. -
So what exactly are you paying to unlock?

The immediate backlash from ISPs on this announcement has been fantastic. Apparently net neutrality will destroy the economy? And kill competition which, to my knowledge, doesn't actually exist. Also Ted Cruz compared net neutrality to Obamacare. Stay classy Ted.

Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy: a new LucasArts-ish adventure
Professor Video Games replied to FluxW's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah a game like Plansecape Torment would be impossible. Actually I think their solution is good too, which is to have a few key lines voiced here and there. It's pretty easy to have your mind fill it in from there. Edit: Also very cool that this ended up getting funded. Quite the push at the end there. Hopefully it's good -
That's my counterargument to your "fact"

Objectively true.

I'm pretty sure arguing that MM is ACTUALLY the best Zelda game is the real cliche at this point.

I realize you made up your mind on this but I'm going to vent on Dream Team anyway. I've put quite a few hours into it (maybe 2/3 through?). There's some good writing in there (there was a level where you climb a mountain dedicated to buff bodybuilders that was great) and some fun mechanics, but it has some serious flaws that boil down to the game being too long and tedious. Like there's way too much dialogue, the worst of it being from these two characters that tag along with you and seem to exist just to be boring and explicitly spell things out (the idiot pillow prince and that star thing). And the combat isn't bad, but it can take a while to get through a battle even when you have the enemies figured out and there's just so many filler areas the combat becomes more tedious than fun. I still tell myself I'll go back and finish it but I'm not so sure. I really liked the first Mario & Luigi game and the second one was ok. Maybe I should play Bowser's Inside Story instead...I hear it's the best one. Oh and yeah any special attack that required tilt controls was a pain in the butt.

Yeah I must have switched it on by accident right at the start when I was pushing all the buttons to figure out which did anything. I retract my complaint (kind of).

Yeah the map is gigantic and hard to read. Also the time is displayed over the play area and there's no way to turn it off. Annoying.

Idle Thumbs 183: The Anonymouses
Professor Video Games replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Yeah but it's basically some AA filter on top of the pixelated style, not the original art. I think it makes it look worse personally. -
I played this for an hour or two last night. I never touched the original so I have no idea what's going on. I'm still not sure what half the items I picked up even do. Figuring it all out is pretty compelling though. And for all you pros talking about how it's easier, the furthest I got was the 3rd level.

Spoilers? More like SOILERS amirite!?

At one point he picks up a potato masher and says "I'm gonna take this thing my roommate has, I don't know what it is, and just mash with it" Also this tweet, which just blows my mind https://twitter.com/DanRyckert/status/527899500195872770

Day 37: Half price sushi for lunch. Something's gone horribly wrong. I'm hearing strange, disturbing noises. Oh my god. Help! Somebody he (log ends in a scribbled, brown mess)

Yeah I thought this looked pretty neat. Will be bummed if/when it doesn't make its goal. -
Obviously I was just kidding but if you're ever looking for an excuse, a guy on my soccer team does this every year.

Now shave your head too.

I called it. It's guide for the Echo River provided by "the bureau of secret tourism". Imagine being in a new location in the game but your interaction is audio only. The menu choices are things like "if you don't remember dialing this number at all, press 5" and "Noises you are hearing in the dark," the latter of which then plays audio of things like "the sound of a canoe tipping over miles away." One option required I listen to a lengthy organ solo. Right now I'm listening to a guide to having a religious ceremony with the snake I claimed to be holding. It's pretty fantastic.

The devs just tweeted this link out: http://kentuckyroutezero.com/here-and-there-along-the-echo/ Being at work, I have no idea what it is but there's a phone number and ebay auction involved so maybe some sort of ARG? I'm very curious.

Yeah on that triple he should have just gone for the in the park home run. Would have been better to see him get called out at the plate than watch that next terrible at bat.

Twin Peaks Rewatch 3: Zen, or the Skill to Catch a Killer
Professor Video Games replied to Jake's topic in Twin Peaks Rewatch Episodes
I love this post in so many ways. -
Are they about how the Legos come to life at night and assemble into amazing contraptions and go on adventures? Because I've known that since I was like five years old.
