  1. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

I just spent the last few minutes looking through the history of the Cap'n Crunch wiki page and all the reversions due to vandalism. Favorite so far is
  2. Destiny

I couldn't care less about the tie-in existing, but the picture of that bro on the box makes me feel very, very sad.
  3. Destiny

Shank burn! He's King Troll for sure.
  4. Destiny

All the new purple armor are 36 light right out of the gate, no more armor bubbles (thank god), so it's really just a matter of finding pieces that have stats you like and/or looks the coolest. Getting a full 36 light set is just a matter of accumulating enough marks. Get two 42 light pieces in there and you're at level 33. I played Trials at level 33 and there were a few times where a grenade didn't kill when it would have otherwise or it took a bit too long to down someone, but I agree that once you're at 33, strategy/coordination is the key.
  5. Destiny

I was using the previous Iron Banner chest with Glowhoo when we did the VoG raid a few weeks ago. It practically turns you into a nightlight. Regarding the Lighthouse, I think it's cool that it exists at all, since it's something a large number of people won't get to and they could have just as easily dumped the awards into your inventory when you finished your last match instead of creating a unique map around getting them.
  6. Official Giant Bomb Thread Mostly for Complaining About Dan

Just finished the past weeks' Beastcast. Legit good stuff. Vinny and Alex are a great combo in an odd couple sort of way and Austin is a great addition. So glad this seems to be turning out well.
  7. Destiny

Nice! I really love the gaudy gold Trials gear. Your Lighthouse rewards any good? I didn't end up having time to get back on last night...looks like I missed out Will probably be on tonight though. Still would like to run some PoE and wouldn't mind doing Trials if anyone's up for it.
  8. Destiny

I'd be up for a Trials run later today. Have some stuff to take care of now but I should be back on this evening. I ran it with some random folks this morning and we did ok but not great. Got to the 6-win tier (4 actual wins if you discount the boons I bought) which netted me the armor and one Etheric Light. Enough to get me to 34 at least. That mode is super intense. Good lord.
  9. Want to date a pug? Now you can with "Hot Date"

Was just looking at the pug wikipedia page. The difference between pugs from around 1800 and today is nuts. Did you know pugs used to have actual snouts? Dog breeding is insane. /derail
  10. Meow.

Does the game allow you to make horrible puking sounds? Because that's how my cat woke me up last night. With the bonus of a hairball mess to clean up this morning!
  11. Destiny

I'm gonna be busy most of the day Saturday. Might pop on that night and probably will Sunday but hard to say when exactly.
  12. Destiny

You do get an IB boost by wearing IB items though (shader, class item, and emblem). I might try using the Hawkmoon I've never touched throughout that so I can actually get it leveled up a bit. It's apparently a really good PvP gun. There's a bounty that Eris sells for completing the Nightfall I think that rewards three motes if you're trying to get more. I think you can buy them from the Speaker now too.
  13. Destiny

I've heard this week's 34 modifiers are especially tough. I'll probably stick to the 32 as while I have a decent collection of gear, a lot of it is not maxed out plus I'm still only a L33 and the attack dropoff is pretty harsh when underleveled. Speaking of which, if anyone sees me on this weekend and wants to run the L32 PoE, shoot me a message. I'm not gonna have a ton of time to play but I should be on sporadically. Apparently you're going to be able to buy a few pieces of Etheric Light from the Iron Banner next week. L34 is in my sights.

  16. Destiny

I'm hesitant to start a 2nd character because I already dump way too much time into this game as it is. And if you really want to kill yourself a lot with a Warlock, try the Blink jump. That site's pretty cool. I really enjoy PvP but I'm totally mediocre at it. It says I'm High Skill but I dunno if a KDR of 1.0 could really qualify for that. God bless those low skill players out there I guess.
  17. Destiny

The raid was super fun. I'd be up for something on Saturdays at least semi-regularly as well. I think normal mode Crota next would be the way to go. I've only done hard mode once, and the Crota fight in particular is a pain in the butt, so I'd hold off until we're all over-levelled for it . And if we can't get a full squad, there's plenty of 3-man content at this point for smaller groups. I ran the PoE L32 with some random players and we found the trick with the final boss is that he only brings in more adds once you take down his shield, so you should focus all attention on them first until he's left by himself (we stayed in that hallway right at the entrance). Then you'll have an opportunity to run out and get ammo (Juggler ) and then DPS the boss without much worry, otherwise the adds are just too overwhelming.
  18. Destiny

VoG is actually weird in that a few of the primaries actually drop in normal mode (Crota they are hard mode only). According to the wiki, Atheon's Epilogue (admittedly kinda shit, but it's void so better than nothing) and Vision of Confluence both drop on normal. Mythoclast and Fatebringer are hard mode only. The Last Word is the coolest gun. It's really good in PvP since it's full auto and you can drop people super fast. And even if its stats were shit, it has that sick twirling animation that makes it the best.
  19. Destiny

The main reason it would be worth doing now is the guns. Fatebringer is top-tier for PvE even at 300 dmg and once it's ascended will be insane. Vision of Confluence (solar damage full-auto scout rifle) is also excellent. There's also the Mythoclast (great for PvP) and a few others that are pretty good. Having primary weapons with arc/solar/void dmg is a huge bonus for the nightfalls. And I guess if you like any of the armor you can hold onto it and ascend it at some point? But yeah you're right...at this point my main motivation would be the fun factor. I figured the difficultly would depend on everyone's level. Plus if anyone hasn't run it before it might be better to do normal just to make things less stressful.
  20. Destiny

I've only run the Prison of Elders once (PvE mode) and only on the lowest difficulty, but it was pretty fun. Trials of Osiris is starting today and runs to the reset on Tuesday. It sounds like an interesting mode even if I'm not a great PvP player. This wiki page describes it pretty well. Should we try to do a Vault of Glass run Saturday? On the calendar there's 4 of us available then (me, Vasari, JonCole, Zeus). Are there two more that would be interested? Zeus shows his availability starting at 2pm (is that eastern time?), which I would be fine with. I also definitely want to get through the lvl32 PoE and give the Trials a shot.
  21. Idle Thumbs 211: Spector's Oil

    "woof" should rhyme with "hoof"?
  22. Idle Thumbs 211: Spector's Oil

In Smash Bros Brawl there is tripping, where a player will randomly fall over when they try to run or dash or whatever (1% of the time according to some smash wiki). I'm pretty sure all THE MLG pro dudes hated it.
  23. Destiny

Yeah I mean I've only done it with people I've played a bunch with and felt comfortable jumping in on, not some LFG randos. For the rest, messaging is probably best. Mainly I was saying it's better than the in-game chat since you can talk without being in the same fireteam for whatever reason. Man, this game could really use some sort of "looking for" or "interested in" system built in so I could just scan my friends list and know who's up for what.
  24. Destiny

I'll be off and on this weekend as well (no work Monday here too). I'd be down for running any of the new content so if you catch me on feel free to jump in. Be warned I'm exceedingly mediocre at PvP, but I still enjoy it in my own masochistic way. One thing to do when grouping up is just make a party chat through the built in playstation system, since that way people can talk without having to actually be in the same fireteam (helpful when a person is in the middle of PvP or something and can't be joined). Plus then friends can just jump into the party and quickly check in on what a group is doing and if they need more.
