I'm really glad that someone read SFP I was kinda worried that it got lost in my post above that eye catching JL8 strip. A ton of great stuff in this thread.

I think the implication was supposed to be that the thing with the doctor lady kinda bothered me too though.

Idle Thumbs 152: Piercing the Fourth Dimension
cyrix replied to Chris's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
So I know this is super late, but the "comedy school" email on the most recent ep. reminded me that I had actually posted here. Whoops. Just wanted to say thanks, and that it makes a lot more sense now! -
Indeed, and it coming from Blue Beetle and Booster Gold makes it all the better.

That promo is freaking great! The show is pretty good too I guess. Just to put this out there, this show is from Dan Harmon the creator of Community. But really it's fantastic.

http://strongfemaleprotagonist.com/ is great, read it form the start. JL8 is a great little strip in which the heros of the DC universe are reimagined as kids, it's done with a lot of love. http://limbero.org/jl8/archive Personal favorite: that strip requires some prior DC knowledge, the strip as a whole doesn't, but it helps.

I have been using a KeePass and Dropbox setup for a while now, and I highly recommend it. I like having my password safe be in my control and it allows easy integration with my android phone (easier if i had chosen to use google drive instead of dropbox) so I always have access to my keepass file. I used lastpass for a while before switching over to keepass, at the time i did it mostly so i could access my passwords on my phone more easily. things may have changed though. I have also heard good things about 1password but it is a paid application and keepass does what I want it too.

I agree, though it helps if you are also a sci-fi fan. Seeing the spinner hanging in the air right after you go in is really something.

It all depends on when you were and active reader. Mostly I just think it would suck to lose Oracle as a good, strong (however you want to phrase it) character who is disabled. This actually just happened in the new 52 stuff that DC is doing right now and people are understandably upset about it. Oracle is a great disabled character because her loss of ability came naturally, and her recovery and transition into oracle were believable and not just a tacked on disability for inclusiveness sake or whatever. She was a better character as Oracle than Batgirl. Also lets not forget the rest of the bat-family adjacent lady characters you could play as: Huntress, Black Canary, The Question (Renee Montoya version) etc. those might be outside of rocksteady's contractual allowances though. Anyway I think we can all agree that any of them would be better than none. Actually a co-op bat family game where you are rescuing batman (or maybe bruce wayne) could be cool. EDIT: EVEN BETTER YOU ARE RESCUING ALFRED! Batman is off planet for some Justice league nonsense and Alfred gets kidnapped and the bat-kids (not ness. kids anymore) have to save him! Total fan service I know, but it's what I crave.

Dark Souls 2 (Dark Souls successor (Demon's Souls successor))
cyrix replied to melmer's topic in Video Gaming
Just in case anyone didn't know, if you are a GB premium member and you set the player to HTML5 and HD you get 60fps video. it's still kinda blocky, but I get that they have to pay for bandwidth and the encoding process is externally automated.- 1284 replies

There were a few more Batgirls than Barbara Gordon. While Cassandra Cain stands silently next to her. also Kathy Kane Batwoman would make a pretty striking player character visually.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I walked away from Skyrim a long time ago, then played (and loved) Dark souls and tried to go back. Doing that will really cement how lacking the core systems in skyrim really are. That game really epitomizes quantity over quality for me. I want to like it, a lot of friends and people I respect do, but the core loop is just so boring to me. Edit: Forgot to say that it's awesome that you found your own ending, maybe I should have done the same. Edit2: Whoops Merus wasn't talking about skyrim! quote removed. -
You obviously never saw his paintings, super racist.

Hey, so could someone explain the Archie Bunker problem in detail. I think it just means people who are unwilling to moderate their "voice", but I feel like maybe I'm missing something. -
A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
cyrix replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
I can't write a list myself because it's been so long since I watched enterprise but I don't like that the guy who wrote it really seems to dislike the series a lot, seems like the wrong way to go about making the list. A few of his choices are definintly correct though, a mirror darkly in particular is a ton of fun. Also that final episode (#10) really is awful, but it's worth watching just to fully understand why people hate it so much. I could never only watch 10 episodes out of a series to begin with though, just feels wrong to me. I can understand not having the time though. Whoops edit: upon looking at the list further I realise it is more than ten episodes, my bad, but also a really bad title considering. EDIT2: Okay the list is actually pretty good, I was just salty because being an enterprise fan I didn't care for his tone. -
Oh man, I forgot it launched that close to Gears! That's makes a lot of sense. I do still think the name hurt it, unless the consumer is familiar with what a space marine is in WH40K the title seems like a generic cash in or something. But being a TPS launching the same time as gears man... ouch.

"SPACE MUHRINE!" -Orc #1457 Space Marine Is IMO one of the hidden gems of "last generation", it got a decent amount of lip service from the press but it seemed to just slip by most gamers. I think the this probably had more to do with the title than anything else, though WH40K has a better claim to it than anyone. It is one of the most respectful games I have ever experienced: Respectful to itself; it never tries to be anything that it can't be gameplay wise or narratively. Respectful to it's characters; Not once in that game did I ever wonder WHY a character did something, or if i did it was answered shortly. And Honest to the player; for the life of me I can't remember a single expository info dump in that whole game. What isn't obvious is left to the player to infer and they seem to respect that if you want more info on the greater universe you can find it yourself. I used the word "respectful" mostly because I couldn't think of a better term, but I think it gets the point across. I have probably over sold it at this point but it really surprised me and I think more people should play it. Shame that it will probably never get a sequel. EDIT: Also Mark Strong does a great job voicing the main character (actually all the VO is pretty great), in fact whenever I think about WH40K space marines now I hear a version of his voice.

That's really good, but maybe "Doubluums" would be less likely to incur a lawsuit

Seagate and Seasonic are very different PSU looks great, and the 750 ti should be a significant boost over what you had before and the 760 would be another jump over that. If you aren't a stickler for Image quality and running games maxed out, the 750 ti should serve you well. It's also has very low power consumption so probably no risk of blowing up another PSU. I have a MSI 760 and have zero complaints, the "twinfrozr" cooler is super quiet and keeps the card nice and cool.

what are the current specs on your PC (include the fried GPU) Just as a general suggestion though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371016 and http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127745 The BP550 may not be pretty, but it's modular and quite well made. The 760 2gb is more than capable of playing most any current game at decent framerates and 1080p, if you running a higher rez monitor you might want to go up to a 4gb.

if you owned BS2 through steam prior to the switch over you got the new steamworks version of the dlc for free regardless of if you bought it through the GFWL marketplace or not. I figure they saw that as the easiest solution.

Are the USB ports on your PC 3.0 (they will be blue)? There is a know issue with USB 3.0 ports putting out heavy but localized 2.4ghz interference. http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/white-papers/usb3-frequency-interference-paper.pdf That white paper is talking about wireless mice that operate on 2.4ghz, but that is also the 802.11 b/g/n frequencies so it could be an issue. Also I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but it might be worth a try to change the channel that your router is broadcasting on, if there are other access points in range using the same channel it can cause really strange behavior.

Yeah, if you get the parry & riposte down Gwynn is really easy. Also just thought I would add that there are shields that increase the parry window that might help with practicing, it's probably the most satisfying combat mechanic in DS. As for the thread topic, I finished Attack of the Friday Monsters and Super Mario 3D Land recently. Attack Of the Friday Monsters: super charming, but it just didn't work for me in the end. I think I would have liked it more if they had gone for one of the extremes. Have the monsters Also the card game is TERRIBLE! It's super unbalanced (and not in a cool like asymmetrical way) and doesn't make any sense as a game two people could actually play at any moment. Luckily there only seemed to be one point in the game where you are actually required to play the game to advance. There are some special cards that start showing up that seem like they would change the way the game works pretty significantly, maybe enough to make it work, but I only ever got one of those and it was right at near the end so it really doesn't change anything. SM3DL: Super good, as jake has mentioned all the SMB3 stuff is fantastic. Everyone knew this already. I'm totally stuck on the "Crown" level or what ever it's called, it's the bonus level you unlock by playing through all the levels as mario and luigi. I'm starting to hate it, I had to put it down for like a month. Trying at it again today was what reminded me to post this. Just for reference I have around 500 deaths total for the 95 levels, and at LEAST 200 of those are on this one level.

Assuming that emoticons become a standard part of written language in the future as they almost are now; should the emoticon go before or after punctuation in a sentence. Example: Have a good day. vs. Have a good day . The first seems more natural to the current way of thinking, but seeing as the emotion is relevant to the initial sentence an not necessarily any that follow it kinda makes sense to include it before the break or something. Just an FYI I should have gone to bed a long time ago. EDIT: I just typed those smiles as text emoticons, the forum made them images. The point still stands, in fact it might be stronger with the use of graphics instead of characters though.
