  1. Diablo III

A promotional animated short released today. Directed by Peter Chung, Titmouse Budget aside, it has a classic Saturday morning vibe to it. Especially the contrived arch angel introductions (Name, Power, repeat). LEAPxgMCEA8 Saturday morning cartoons. Wish I could go back there. 32FB-gYr49Y

That guy is five kinds of genius. His cows & cows & cows is still one of my niece's fav videos. FavUpD_IjVY
  3. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

It's me. Turns out I was clever and changed my gmail password a year ago, but since I use devices to check my mail, I can't remember it. Thus I cannot log into Neptune. Since I never set-up recovery options, I've had to pay 3 bucks, and wait until Monday to make an international call to Google recovery services. Long story short, I've started the recovery process, and I'm waiting on an e-mail from Google with the reset password link. Shouldn't be long, but I can't be sure. If you have a replacement player who can go right away, go for it, I don't want to hold you guys up further. Sorry.
  4. Parameters

Fill the hard to see, one pixel thick, combo meter that runs the width of the play field under the stats at the top. Just keep picking up stuff (cash, xp, letters) at a steady rate, and it will fill with a blue colour, hard to see. Stop collecting for a second, and the bar empties. When it reaches the end, the blue fill will turn cyan, and the top right corner room will unlock. You need to have a fair bit of recovery (RCV) to pull it off, easy to do once you get going. Best you don't click it until your level plateaus though. It gives you a bunch of cash, not sure how much exactly, but it's multiplied by your current level.

Not particularly funny, but thought you might like it. kiePaAHK3jE
  6. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

    Friday is fine.
  7. Parameters

Why can't it be both? Beat it in 12mins after my first 37min play through (took that long to figure out how to unlock the last ? room in the top right corner). Wish the layout would be random, but I guess that wouldn't really change anything.
  8. Looking at the map and looks like at least 2 new villages have been found. They are out there if you want them. Somebody (I think Erwin) was complaining about his mine being overrun with slimes. So maybe you can turn his mine into a farm.
  9. Favorite early cancelled TV series

Clone High XdCzi236mcU A Canada/USA co-production between Teletoon, and MTV. Season 2 was was canceled due to controversy over the depiction of Gandhi (a teenage clone of Mahatma Gandhi). In Canada the full first season was aired and Teletoon green lit the second season, but sadly, the show was pulled by MTV in the US, they never aired the last 5 episodes, and the show died. Controversy as explained by Wikipedia... "An article in Maxim Magazine depicting Mahatma Gandhi getting beat up by a muscular man sparked outrage in India. Clone High was caught in a crossfire when citizens in the country conducted internet searches on the Maxim article but also found out about the show's Gandhi character on MTV's website. This sparked an outrage in India over the show's depiction of Gandhi. On January 30, 2003, the 55th anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi's assassination, approximately 150 protesters (including members of parliament) gathered in New Delhi and vowed to fast in response to Clone High. MTV offered a quick apology, stating that "Clone High was created and intended for an American audience," and, "We recognize and respect that various cultures may view this programming differently, and we regret any offense taken by the content in the show." 10. Zorro Joins Double Fine

    Another better-late-than-never congrats post.
  11. The Walking Dead

I got it on Steam, initially tried with my wireless controller, but quickly swapped back to mouse and keyboard. With the controller, the analogue lateral sensitivity seemed to be greater than vertical, made moving the reticule around odd. Mouse and Keyboard is the way to go. Loved the first chapter. My first Tell Tale Game yay. I have not read the comics, have yet to see an episode of the show. Didn't even look up a video of the game. I picked it up based on the positive buzz that has been surrounding it, a couple nice screenshots (on steam), and the fact that I've been meaning to play a TTG adventure game for a while now (hard not to with two of you working there, and on this title in particular). First of all, I have a niece that is a pretty good fit for Clementine. So I fucking hate you guys for doing that to me. Post chapter.. I flipped through the chapter selection screen looking for her, looks like she survives until chapter 5. If you fucking kill her I will not.. be a happy camper. That said, the game had me by the balls from the point I teamed up with Clementine. I had no clue going into this game that there even was a kid in this game. No clue. It instantly became a save-my-niece-from-zombies game so I was emotionally invested 200%. It's not even funny. I was checking on her all the time, maybe even bit to much, to the point where I started to wonder if you tracked that, and would penalize me for being overprotective and paranoid. So I started just doing walk-byes to make sure she was all right The only thing that came up that knocked me out of the zone was Also.. as pointless as it may be, I really liked the post game stats. Apparently I'm prone to minority decision making... not sure what that makes me.
  12. Battlethumbs 3

I still occasionally play with friends on Friday evenings. Though due to the Friday time slot turn out can be rather erratic. Still fun when you can muster a bunch of guys to play.
  13. Turn-Based Mobile Strategy

I haven't played Strategery in a while.. I'm AteBitGeneral on game center.
  14. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

I'd partake in a little Neptune Pride. If you haven't started it yet.
  15. Upon further inspection it looks like it was a chunk glitch.. the house is actually intact. As for texture packs... what I'm using is my own "clean" or "simple" style 16x pack. Link bellow for the adventurous types. >> "MOSAiC 0.5Thumb" No mods required, just drop the zip file into the texture pack sub-folder. Note: This is a newer version than the one I posted in the Pheadrus Hole. I've since removed the picture of Jeff Goldblum laughing (he loves a good pumpkin on head joke) from inside the pumpkin (restored my old pumpkin face, and overlay). I'm not sure why. Disclaimer: It's functional, but it's a work in progress (AKA I fiddle with it now and then). Most of the terrain has been revised, a bunch of it not really finished, or just plain experimental (stripes on trees and ice). Armour is also changed, leather is an aviator set (made for a friend who is nuts for the zeppelin mod), iron and gold needs some love (but at least its not the default), diamond is the closest to "finished" (even if it is a bit futuristic for some people). I've also started on the items, still trying to nail down an overall style. Maybe a dozen or so are redone, in what looks like totally random order. Now that I think of it I haven't even done all the tools (axe and hoe are default still). Also been messing around with UI windows.. Inventory, Chests, Crafting tables are grey-scale examples of my latest attempt, everything else is still default. If you give it a test drive, let me know what you think.. All comments, and/or criticism welcome (so PM me if you got any).
  16. Finished the book... now waiting for le bookblast.
  17. Or a ladder pole (1 block tower, ladders on all sides) for some King-of-the-Ladder action.
  18. Don't need heaps of them just one will do. The game instantly places snow under the golem each time it's removed. Fordin pointed out this only happens in snow biomes now, I wasn't aware of the change. So what people do to farm snow is they trap a golem between 4 blocks, at 1 block above ground so you have access to the snow under it. Equip a shovel, press and hold for unlimited snowballs. 19. These are Metagame cards drawn at random. 1 Topic. 5 Games. Please state your choice and your reason(s) why. Version 2 ... now with more video gaaaames. Hoping this works better. You have a few cards, and you must play one, (and successfully defend it against your opponents). So this is a decent proxy of the player's card selection phase, instead of the challenge/defend phase of the game which comes after. So here we go again... Which is more meditative to play? Pole Position - 1982 Arcade Namco/Atari Silent Hill - 1999 PSX Team Silent/Konami Gran Turismo - 1997 PSX Polyphony Digital/Sony Virtua Fighter - 1993 Arcade/Saturn SEGA-AM2/Sega Cow Clicker - 2010 Facebook Ian Bogost/Ian Bogost
  20. My Metagame cards finally came in, and I thought maybe it could make for an interesting thread. So lets see how this plays out. Shuffled and drawn at random... Which is more commercial? Desktop Dungeons (2011, PC & Mac, Dev. QCF Design, Pub. QCF Design) vs America's Army (2002, PC & XBox, Dev. USArmy & Secret Level, Pub. USArmy & Ubisoft) Indie darling versus free-to-play propaganda-ware. Not a bad start. (At first I was thinking it might not work so well with just 2 game cards, since the pair ups can be one sided. Plus people discussing it here aren't forced to defend a particular card, but then if I draw more cards the odds of a clear winner increase. Catch 22ish. Any suggestions for "forum-play" rules are welcome. If this works, might start a new discussion each week.)
  21. Really! As you can tell I always thought it was F2P propaganda-ware. So the Xbox version (ubi published) was retail I'm guessing. To be honest I didn't even know there was an Xbox version until i saw it on the card. Now that I looked it up, there was also an AA game for mobile (Gameloft/Ubi), 360 (RedStorm/Ubi), and an arcade (GlobalVR). Should have looked it more. Well shit. That's the problem I feared would happened, figured I'd re-draw if was to clear cut for any discussion. When I drew the those cards I figured big budget F2P vs no budget retail game could get interesting. Take F2P out and it falls apart. I'll try again with more game cards, not sure how else it could be done.
  22. On one hand you can compare two, a Free-to-Play game to a Pay-to-Play game. In that case Desktop Dungeons would be "most commercial", but is that right? What if I say America's Army is the most commercial of the two since it is a triple A title. It's a big budget game (33M funded by the American government), made using high end graphic middleware (Unreal), by a large professional studio (Secret Level [now Sega Studios San Francisco] 150+ employees [now ~200]) to be competitive with the other triple A FPS games at the time. As for Desktop Dungeons, it's a self funded effort of 3 guys (Quarter Circle Forward + Design) in Cape Town South Africa. Hardly the most commercial of the two productions.
  23. Personally I'd like to see more abstract strategy games (Eufloria comes to mind). Something weird, something that doesn't quite register initially, but once you get into it.. everything makes sense. Something that would generate the "I have no idea what you are doing, but it looks cool." response from onlookers. Something quirky, but with some nice depth to it.
  24. Tribes: Ascend

I'm glad it's getting (very) good reviews I've certainly been having a blast with it. Oh and thanks for the link to the free Spinfusor codes, a few of my friends were able to get themselves some free disk launchers.
  25. No testificates were harmed in the making of my sensor. I tried making one in creative mode once, and it wasn't as reliable. I made the grass-based BUD (Block Update Detector) Switch. Which abuses the bug where pistons change states (extend or contract) when an adjacent block is updated (in this case grass appearing on a dirt block). How it works... During the day the grass block is under a water block. As we all know grass doesn't grow underwater, but if it finds itself there it needs light. Without it the grass turns back to dirt. When night comes the grass dies, the block is updated, and the piston pushes the grass block under a glass block adjacent to a bunch of grass blocks diagonally above and bellow (for maximum regrow chance). When extended the dirt block cuts off the redstone wire, killing the output. When day breaks, light levels increase, block updates again (the grass grows on the dirt block), and the piston retracts, pulling the grass block under the water again where it will wait until light levels drop again in the evening. Mandatory YouTube Tutorial (Best one I could find for this design.) zZ3jdGiKEYs Mayhaps, this is the first time I've built a BUD switch in SMP. Though in my SSP game I only have one and it is fast, and accurate. Anyhow... It is a bit slow to update. It also takes up valuable space inside the river perimeter, and isn't very attractive. I'll try to make one across the river, in the wilds, and see if it is more accurate when further from my building's shadow, and the surrounding torchlight. Though it can't go to far from the populous area, it needs to be on a loaded chunk to work, plus it would require a larger redstone circuit to get the power to and around town (which I was trying to minimize by having near by). EDIT: Corrections and clarifications.
