  1. I love the Treasure Goblins and would definitely be up for going to Greed's domain in an expansion or something. From the game's lore on the topic:
  2. Worst Kickstarter Ever

PA doing this through Kickstarter annoys me on the same level as EA releasing an "indie bundle" on Steam. Everyone else has already made my points better than I would, though - this isn't the right sort of project for Kickstarter, PA has the means to go through other channels for this and should do so, the rewards make them sound incredibly full of themselves. Not in a funny, self-ironic way either; they just sound like pricks. Here are some more of their reward tiers: http://www.somethingawful.com/d/news/penny-arcade-kickstarter.php
  3. That makes sense, but it turns out the size I selected is the size I want so it's all good. Looking forward to getting that sweet shirt!
  4. Sweet, thanks! Guess I'll dig out the measuring tape and figure out what size is appropriate for me. I already filled out the form though, would it be possible to correct my size if it turns out I messed up? I actually didn't back DFA. Shameful, I know, I'm just not big into point and click adventure games. I keep buying them and never getting far.
  5. Just got and answered the $50 ($60 with shipping for me) rewards form. One thing I noticed is that there's no information about how large the different shirt sizes actually are, as that can vary a bit (as in one label's Small being bigger or smaller than another's Small and whatnot). Probably fine, but possibly something you might want to add for the forms still to be sent out (higher tier backers still get the shirt, right?) I was also forced to fil out the State or Region field, which isn't really easily applicable for Sweden and probably a bunch of other countries as well. Hopefully entering my "Län" is close enough.
  6. New Forums! Post feedback, notes, etc here

My only feedback is that the forums now look super sweet. But then I wasn't a member of the forums until the Kickstarter essentially forced me to join (listened to the cast long before that though), so I don't have the same attachment to the old theme as some of you do.
  7. Diablo III BattleTags

I'm Woebin#2652 Currently playing mainly a barbarian, halfway or so through act 1 on Nightmare so far. I also have a hardcore wizard at level 12, but who knows how long she'll live. Playing on EU.
  8. What's the point of the bookcast if it just tells you to read books you read anyway?
  9. Survey

Well, I know for a fact that people around me would pirate less if it was easier to get things legally, so unless other people started pirating more to counteract that (which would be absurd), people would definitely pirate less on average. To be honest I don't really understand how you could think people wouldn't pirate less. Just note though, that obviously not every person who pirates would change their habits. What I'm saying is that some would, and others wouldn't start pirating more as a response to things being easier to buy. So it's basically certain that the average rate of piracy would go down.
  10. Survey

Done. If possible, it'd be really interesting to see some of the write-in answers you get as well.
  11. Show me your desk/gaming space

I readily admit to having more money than sense. It's pretty handy sometimes, though, and it's really sweet when I play a game that can utilize two monitors. So far that's basically only Supreme Commander though.
  12. Show me your desk/gaming space

It's messy, not dirty. There's a difference. Creepy narcissistic mousepad was a present from a friend years ago and I don't have any other mousepad available. Also people's reactions when first seeing it tend to be pretty funny. Thumbnail links to full size.
  13. Post your face!

I hope it's not bad form to post twice, but I found this ridiculous picture from a fashion show type thing in 2008 that might give someone a laugh. Remembering it and looking it up certainly caused me to chuckle embarrassedly, at any rate. (not visible: the makeup applied to produce a simulated monobrow and five o'clock shadow)
  14. Wizaaaaaards!!

    Best wizard.
  15. Post your face!

Thanks, it's the most recent in a series of great second hand finds for me (the one that came before was sadly lost when I somehow drunkenly left it on the subway). I think it's designed for teenaged girls though, but then that's basically the physique I have so it works out well in the end. I know exactly what you mean regarding facial expressions, and I used to have a lot of trouble with that. My old school photos are a mix between looking like I think everything's the worst thing imaginable and having the goofiest smile I could muster. Terrible. These days I don't actually have any such trouble (usually), so I guess it might be a matter of practice. And yeah, I'm a Swedish Thumb, so snow's not in short supply during winter. Are you in a storage closet?
  16. Post your face!

This is from this winter, but I basically look the same. Fixed the dye on my roots since, I guess. Usually I'm better shaved and look less smug, too.
  17. Firaxis' XCOM Enemy Unknown

This got me googling, and I found this interview. So yes, time units are out, and it's because players in focus testing got confused, but it doesn't necessarily sound like it's been dumbed down for it. However, I should admit that I actually haven't played the original X-Com myself yet. It's in my Steam list, I intend to get to it, but whenever I feel the itch for turn based tactics I tend to boot up something that looks a bit more modern (not current, since there aren't a lot of good current games in the genre, but something like JA2). It's silly, I don't usually care that much about graphics, but there you go. I'll get there.
  18. The first book is 150 pages long, surely that qualifies as a short story? I'm really looking forward to the bookcast, but I personally hope you won't be choosing the most popular genre fiction books like Hunger Games, or the classics like Moby Dick, because those are the things people will read regardless of whether you tell them to or not (although I won't be reading Hunger Games unless I have to). The thing I like about this sort of thing is being introduced to things I would normally not be that interested in, and judging from The Sense of an Ending at least Chris will pick books that are outside my usual reading habits (it's good, though, I'm enjoying it; I just wouldn't have bought it unless someone suggested it).
  19. Like most people I don't have any hard rules, but in general unless I know there's something rewarding coming up I'll stop playing a game right away if I find myself not having fun at all. One example is Space Pirates and Zombies, which I'd heard good things about from various places. Pirates and zombies are both a bit overplayed, causing me to approach the game with a good deal of scepticism to begin with, and at the first combat encounter I quickly found that the controls and feel of it all was just terrible. Didn't even finish the demo. On the other hand, I'm currently working my way through Neverwinter Nights 2. The writing is incredibly generic, the voice acting is excruciatingly bad, the engine really doesn't lend itself well to the scripted cutscenes that are frequently used, and the combat lacks the depth I've come to expect from DnD games (coming from the Infinity Engine games). Yet I push on, because I know that at some point I get to own and develop my own fort, which is the sort of thing I tend to really enjoy. And even more importantly than that, I've heard so many good things about the expansion, Mask of the Betrayer, that I just really want to get through the vanilla game so I can play that. So I guess that's a lot of words to say that I don't spend a lot of time with a game I don't enjoy unless there are good things just beyond the horizon.
  20. I'd look good on anyone's friends list, really. Having my name there is the sort of thing that makes onlookers realize that yes, you are a respectable and, dare I say it, enviable person. I can also play games! http://steamcommunity.com/id/Woebin
  21. Dragon's Dogma

The demo's really unimpressive in my opinion, probably mainly because it's incredibly short. There are two parts to it, "Prologue Quest" in which you play a premade character with premade pawns fighting through a bunch of goblins and facing off with a at the end (spoiler tag because someone might want to be surprised, I guess). Then there's "Countryside Quest", in which you get to play as a character of your own design with your own pawn (but you get preset weapons, no choosing those) and fight a . All in all the demo took maybe 15 minutes to play through. Mechanics seem all right though, assuming the actual game is more open and less linear than the demo and it could be pretty sweet.
  22. I've heard it said that the M.A.X. games are pretty good, probably worth at least $3 to try out. Fallout Tactics is definitely worth $3 if you go in for squad-based tactics; it's essentially a post-apocalyptic Jagged Alliance, although probably a bit less complex. The single player campaign also makes a jump in difficulty partway through, making it almost unbeatable and certainly not too fun unless you've invested in energy weapons. Personally I think it's worth it just for the multiplayer though, if you can find soemone to play with.
  23. New people: Read this, say hi.

Well, to be fair, I did join the Steam group back when the cast was still dead. In fact, I first discovered Idle Thumbs a month or two before its second death. I just worked my way through the archives before listening to any new epidodes, getting more and more psyched as I was catching up and would be able to start listening to actually new episodes, and then... oh
  24. Doom The Roguelike

DoomRL is great, especially since the inclusion of tiles by Derek Yu (the Spelunky guy). I've been playing it off and on for years and finally won my first game the other day. Admittedly on the lowest difficulty setting, but still. Play DoomRL, everyone. Just look how gorgeous this is!
  25. New people: Read this, say hi.

Hello, I registered because the podcast told me to. Yup.
