Talking of storms, my friend who lives in Northumberland woke the other night to the sound of these bad boys coming down...

Robot kills worker at Volkswagen Plant in Germany http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/jul/02/robot-kills-worker-at-volkswagen-plant-in-germany?CMP=fb_gu "The 22-year-old was part of a team that was setting up the stationary robot when it grabbed and crushed him against a metal plate, Hillwig said. He said initial conclusions indicate that human error was to blame, rather than a problem with the robot, which can be programmed to perform various tasks in the assembly process. He said it normally operates within a confined area at the plant, grabbing auto parts and manipulating them." I wonder if those conclusions had been come to via the help of a computer.

Idle Thumbs 210: Pro Fish Smart Fish

Talking of cracking podcasts, and the imperial system (I don't mean Star Wars, you big bunch o' geeks), Radio 4's More Or Less - which looks at the facts behind numbers often cited in the news - did a great section on the wonderfully bizarre, and surely totally logical, interrelationships between imperial measures. 2m18s of education right here: -

I'm convinced Super Briefly led to Idle Thumbs being sponsored by MeUndies. -
Right! Itinerary set! Flying in on 17th April, staying a week with 2 nights in St Helena (21 & 22nd) to see a little wine country. Now just coming up with ideas to do each day and, more importantly, where to eat - SF seems like a food mecca. Can't wait!

Walkable foodie trip sounds right up our alley! Thanks!

Tempting- we spent a few nights there on our previous trip (Denver to San Francisco) and were blown away by it. In trying to balance new places and old- as tempting as it is to fall back in love with some.

I'm thinking of whisking the wife away to SF for a week next April (the benefits of working for an airline!) - we've been before a fee years ago but only for a couple of nights so feel we barely scratched the surface of the place. As well as wanting to see more of the city, I'm thinking of renting a car and seeing some of the country nearby. However, no idea where to go or what to see! Is Napa valley worth a trip? Sacramento? Decisions decisions...

Idle Thumbs 148: The Octopus in My Mind

Fab episode gents; as NotDormer says - you MUST make that DayZ stream a reality, esp. with the audio stream for you guys. I was slightly surprised though, at your enthusiasm for getting a telepresence robot. After all, what's to stop the robot community from just rendering a human face on the screen and so surreptitiously gaining a foothold in the human world. It wouldn't then be long before offices ONLY had telepresence robots - none of which would be controlled by humans, obviously. -
Uh-oh. There's a robotic petting zoo.... http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/14/4835782/minimaforms-petting-zoo-features-artificially-intelligent-tentacles "Minimaforms says that its programming enables its pets to "develop personalities" over time, enabling "intimate exchanges that are emotive and evolving.""

Is the Mac version known as OS X X-Com? Do you play it on an OS X X-Com Computer?

No, lots, 0, not I. Sigh, fruitcake.

Sorry Thumbs, Rudy wasn't taken with his new catchphrase...

I found this page with some user created levels if you want to get more of your Gunpoint fix: http://gsngaming.com/topic/9891-gunpoint-level-share/ I too really enjoyed it, but would have liked more! Also, was a little surprised to see I'd played all the missions - I kind of assumed that depending on the answer I gave in the dialogue, it may branch the levels, but apparently not.

With Cool Spot (HD) as the city mascot too? -
And he should've got her some of this: Nothing says "Happy Mothers Day" like 100g of Parma Ham.

Saw this in the news today. Thought of this thread. Link

Is it just me, or at a glance, does that look like a load of Tie Fighters stacked on top of eachother? -

You should've changed the spaceship to a kazoo, too. -
Maybe they need to escape from the 99th podcast by solving cryptic puzzles?

Great work Elmuerte. I'm sure you'll be greatly rewarded (most likely with fruitcake).
