  1. DOTA 2

my new favorite hobby is using force staff on pudge to get people trapped on ledges so they have to use the courier to fly themselves a tp scroll if they dont have one. I'm mean.
  2. Eh, I like it, but it's certainly not anything to judge the game off of, its just a piece of art and also a puzzle which makes it harder to see things.
  3. The Elder ScrMMOlls

What does The Old Republic have? I only played in the closed beta but that seemed like basically equally cartoony WoW in space, unless you meant the millions of dollars of voice acting that I skipped and I think most MMO players skip (It's mostly a habit to skip quest text). I don't mean for that to be in any way disparaging towards World of Warcraft, or games like it, btw.
  4. I wish I had friends that cared about the same stuff that I do so I could call them up and tell them that I posted in the same thread as THE Julian Murdoch.
  5. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yep He's one from the opposite side 0zPDAj568wo
  6. DOTA 2

So I from the 20 ish games I've played so far, having a voice chat system built into the game has not once been helpful. The only time I every hear people use it is when it's people that get angry and start yelling in their mic complaining about foreigners and calling people niggers and/or faggots. I just had a 40 minute game where our mid started feeding and wouldn't shut up about how it was all the stupid foreigners ruining the game and how free games sucked because poor foreigners played them and ruined them for everyone. It's good to see the DotA community has stayed strong. Edit: Also, the guy he was talking to was Australian...
  7. anime

Forgot to mention this a while ago. So I haven't really watched anything anime related in years but about a month or so back I decided to watch The Girl Who Leapt Through Time. It was really good, imo. I really liked that is was serious, in the sense that it wasn't tons of cutesy stuff with a ton of rediculous stuff going on. There was still the supernatural aspect to the premise, but it still felt really... normal? Are there any other things like this, either movies, shows or OVAs?
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned at all in this thread, but Igby Goes Down is fantastic. I saw it when it came out in 2002 and it was my favorite movie through middleschool/highschool and I still love it. It has some great Goldblum and Kieran Culkin deserves to get more recognition as he's an actually good Culkin. He made me more excited to see Scott Pilgrim than the fact that it was Scott Pilgrim.
  9. Risen 2: Rise Harder

I never played Risen 1, but I watched a German Let's Play of it with the vain hope that it would make me better at German and allow me to not study for the German class I'm taking in college. It did not help me at all, but the game looked really cool, and I might check this one out too after playing the first for myself.
  10. Left 4 Thumbs - The Homethumbing 2

Me and my friends played a ton of L4D 1/2 and while we didn't really burn out we stopped playing a long time ago and haven't really played since. I haven't played since before the Passing came out, one of the main reasons was people in the game rage quit a lot. As in significantly more than other games, and people rage quit a lot in every game. I don't know if this still happens, but it was annoying when the other team or even just one or two people would quit after doing bad on the first map when a game like L4D has so much room to come back, and also is super fun to play even when you aren't winning. For me playing with 3 other friends it was basically either we would get matched with another organized group of 4, or campaign completion odds were 0.
  11. DOTA 2

Dendi is the mid player for Na'Vi, the best dota 2 team in the world. I'm pretty sure that guy you played with watched his games so he knows how to play just as good as him so you should listen to whatever he says.
  12. IDLE THUMBS KICKSTARTER!

Got it, filled it out, submitted it.
  13. Show me your desk/gaming space

Which Team Dignitas team do you like?
  14. DOTA 2

I get 6 divine rapiers no matter who I play, I don't understand why you guys get all those other items, its stupid. If I a support I'll buy a chicken before my first rapier though, I'm not a dick. P.S. Stats are a crutch.
  15. Left 4 Thumbs - The Homethumbing 2

    I like L4D.
  16. The Elder ScrMMOlls

I won't play the game, but as long as it's a good game I have no problem with them trying to make it, it seems like a logical decision.
  17. DOTA 2

It's deff the face that's making you bad with him
  18. Diablo III

The social aspect is definitely a large part of the draw for me, though I also just like being able to build my character. Having something that I'm constantly working at and feeling like I'm getting better is appealing to me. That being said, the character building also ties back to the social aspect of the game as it's less fun to spend all that time on your dude if you can't really show him to your friends. I played Torchlight and liked it a lot though, so there is something else I find compelling about the games, but given the choice between playing solo and working on leveling up a character and getting gear or playing a normal co-op game like L4D with my friends I'd rather play a game with my friends.
  19. DOTA 2

I just looked at the new lion face for the first time today, I do not like it.
  20. Hot Scoops, Inc.

Wait so if he's on Portland now does that mean he won't be on the podcast ever?
  21. DOTA 2

League and Dota 2 are both good games, but they're really different even though they're both based on the same thing. I wouldn't look at LoL as a game to learn to transition to Dota 2, I would look at it as a game to start playing if you want to play League of Legends. If you want to play Dota and can get an invite it's easy enough to start, if you do some reading on the basic mechanics and then watch some videos you'll be able to get an understanding for things and then I'd recommend playing bot games. Bot games don't count for anything, they don't go on your record and you can leave them whenever so people generally don't care if you're bad. Also watching some gameplay commentaries or casted games can help a lot . PurgeGamers on youtube has a lot of games with commentary for DotA and Dota 2, he has almost 400 videos up so if you search for a hero you don't know chances are he has a game or two with it and he'll go over it.
  22. DOTA 2

Got in my first game where all the people actually used mics. They weren't just yelling at each other the whole game, they were literally screaming. We won though so it clearly is the most effective way to give instructions to teammates.
  23. Grim Dawn

I loved the classes/class system in TQ, I haven't looked into the ones in this game at all if they've said what they are, but I hope they're just as cool
  24. "Adults Should Read Adult Books" - Joel Stein

WHO ARE YOU CALLING A NERD, NERD?!
  25. Non-video games

    You should try Quarriors then
