I was going to edit my icon with Shatner holding a menorah until I saw that this thread was titled to specifically be about Christmas.

So I've been reading some old DC books and was reading the Knightfall/KnightQuest arc of the Batman books from the early 90's where Bane was first introduced as a character and broke Batman's back. It reminded me of Chris' complaint about Arkham City and how even though Batman is infected with the deadly virus he can still take out waves of dudes. In the Knightfall arc his spine is broken, but a few issues later he's walking around with a cane and fighting people, though he does spend a fair amount of time in a wheelchair (which of course has been outfitted with tons of gadgets and such).

What would you recommend as an example? To me it doesn't make sense to pick anything as being the best as anime is so broad, it's just as broad as any other type of movie. I think Bladerunner is really good, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone as an example of the best of film (or even think of it in that context). I can recommend people examples of anime that I think are good, but ranking them further than that wouldn't really work, at least for me.

Eh, I think it's good and succeeds at what it tries to do. Outside of other things cyberpunk it's comparing apples to oranges so whether it's the "best" or close or whatever doesn't really matter.

I might be totally wrong but I thought in GTA IV it was just a matter of girls liking things I a certain price range, like one girl liked if you had a fancy car and nice clothes and wanted to go to good places, and another might like everything that's mid-range, and another preferred all the cheap stuff.

How does this compare to Age of Chivalry? I played a lot of that and liked it a lot , is this basically the same game but better, or is it different in any big ways?

I think I've watched maybe half of Baccano on Netflix and like it, also I can't imagine watching it in Japanese which is pretty much how I prefer to watch everything, but since it's in New York and the people have New York accents I feel like watching it in a different language would be a worse experience. As for Escaflowne and Trigun, I really liked both when I watched them, but that was probably close to 10 years ago, maybe even more, so I was I guess 12 at the time. I didn't have a problem with the pacing in Trigun. The whole thing where the first bunch of episodes don't have any real ongoing plot and are mostly one-offs, but as it goes on a real plot and story develop towards the end is so common in anime that at this point if I'm watching something I expect to have to watch maybe 10+ episodes before I have a real sense of what's going on.

According to steam I only played 104 minutes of Far Cry 2 before I quit, maybe I should give it a second chance, and then potentially try this game.

Yeah it would, if someone made a source mod or something with a similar mechanic I'd probably play/buy it.

So I haven't read anything else in this thread and probably wont for a while as I watched seasons 1-3 weekly as they aired, but for some reason haven't gotten around to watching an episode since. I just came here to say that why I was visiting my family in Albuquerque this weekend I saw that certain stores sell Breaking Bad candy, which I thought was kind of funny, and also kind of weird. If you couldn't guess it's blue colored rock candy, or at least I assume it is, I only saw it and didn't buy any.

Yeah it's easy knowing that everything will be on sale again in a month, so personally I've managed to avoid buying anything that I know I won't get around to playing for a few weeks.

I only got the DLC for Binding of Isaac in the summer sale so I probably won't get anything in this, but I don't know. I might get Dear Esther because I like Jessica Currys soundtrack.

Well I always thought of him like the Hulk, or like a caveman, though I guess a lot of that was just the third person thing and after watching that he seems less dumb that I thought he did. I still find the line very out of character for him though, but it doesn't really bother me.

The line is so out of character for him though, considering normally he talks like an idiot and in the third person.

So to get this back on topic, as someone who never played the original but played FFH, how similar are the games? Also, how similar is the this to the original? I've seen people both ways on that and still am not sure. Was the original even that bad, or was it more that it was bad at launch and the game itself would have been decent if it worked?

This reminded me, I was playing with my friend in Germany and he was getting really upset that he couldn't figure out how to change the game language to English. He said the German translation was not very good and that he wanted to just play it in English. Maybe "really upset" is a bit strong, but he was annoyed to a large degree. I'm pretty sure all the audio was in English for him though.

Yeah I had to read it for school, but I still ended up loving it. I also love the movie and think Robert Redford in his prime is so god damned good looking.
