The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite
TheLastBaron replied to Sean's topic in Multiplayer Networking
So I bought a Liquid pennant when they added the new pennants for teams a little while back and it appears the pennant system is currently broken. If I didn't just spend 99 cents I got from trading cards I might be sad about this. Edit: Never mind, it appears they've fixed it now. It's weird to see just how popular some teams are. Na'Vi has around 40k pennants while Zenith has less than a thousand. -
Dead Island fails to live up to its name and is in fact alive

I'd be down -
Solitaire is the only tablet game I ever play, I switch back and forth between normal and spider every couple games to keep myself on my toes. On an actual computer I never ever paly it though, I'm a minesweeper guy.

I agree, unless you have more than 10 people.

Me and a friend both got the bundle (we got it for SR2&3) so if I play it at all it will be with at least one other person. -

Yeah, I know. I meant he's good from playing with him, not from how big his bar is. -

Got this in the current Humble Bundle, looking forward to trying it out. you can get it for ~$5 at https://www.humblebundle.com/ -
So Saint's Row 4 comes out in a few months and I've never played SR3 after getting it with the THQ Humble Bundle. I've never played a Saint's Row game so I'm not really sure what the structure is. How exactly does the co-op work? Is it where you have a shared save with someone and you play through the whole game together, or do you just have your single player game adn then the option to have someone else join you or something? From what I can tell Saint's Row games are a lot better with someone else, though my one irl friend who has the game played it completely solo and said it was fun. So the main point I'm trying to get to is does anyone want to play this?

The game is part of the current Humble Bundle of Deep Silver games. you can pay $1 to get SR3 (as well as SR2 and other games) or par ~$5 to also get all the SR3 DLC and Dead Island.

Dota Today 6: The Hoove Oeuvre, with Greg Kasavin
TheLastBaron replied to Nick Breckon's topic in Dota Today Episodes
So for the international 3 a lot of places are doing the equivalent on barcrafts, only now it's called a pubstomp. Dear Mom in sf is doing one and while I'm going to be out of the country it sound like it'll be super cool watching the games live with a huge crowd. I believe it's on the 11th, so for the grand finals. -
Also the higher the level the more often you get booster packs, so if they sell those it makes some of the money back.

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New iwrestledabearonce cd is super good. I totally thought they were going to break up (their vocalist got pregnant and had to leave the band), but they managed to get a new vocalist and are still good. -
The Computer History Museum is awesome, they have lots of cool guest speakers all the time too. Mark Cerny and Elon Musk both did talks/interviews within the past year. I'm a member so I go there a decent amount (I also had a job in the gift shop a couple years ago).

I thought about that, and then I thought about getting the pdf so when I never used it it'd be less of a waste, but then I thought about it and I would for sure never use a pdf of a 500 page book and decided to get neither.

Well you can only sell certain items on the market, so maybe they can't be sold on it. I know I don't really have anything in TF2 I can sell, though I could trade my stack of metal for keys and sell those.

http://m.calacademy.org/nightlife The one tomorrow looks super good, I'm probably going. I'm on my phone, I'll fix the link when I get home, but I didn't want to forget since I've already forgotten to post this and now it's the day before.

How does playing multiplayer work with mods?
-
I'm debating getting the GoT board game to try and get some friends to play a board game. As much as it probably isn't the right game (it's a long strategy focused game and a short fun/party type game would be way more up their alley) I think I have a massively larger chance at getting them to play it than anything else. I've been trying to get them to play stuff all Summer and so far nothing has worked (I picked up a copy of The Resistance: Avalon and so far it's still in plastic) and at this point I'm nearly willing to make a $60 gamble because they're all really into the books and show, even if I don't care for either. I asked some of them if they'd play it and explained it was a strategy type game that would take a few hours and I got the closest thing I've hear so far to them agreeing to play, just because it's Game of Thrones. Even http://vimeo.com/70647384 did little to sway them to want to play a board game.

Is GTA V being bottlenecked by the 360 in the same way 4 was, in terms of the disk capacity being an issue? As excited as I am for 5, at the same time I want it to be 10 years from now so I can see what GTA 6 is like given that It'd be developed solely for the next gen consoles. If the jump in level of fidelity is even half of the leap from 3 to 4 then I might not even have to leave my house (assuming the next game is set in San Jose California, because I plan on still living with my parents and going to college in 10 years).

Same, I was actually mad for the first time this whole sale. It's the only game I've wanted to go on sale the entire time (more than the 25%). Oh well. As such my only purchases are the expansions for Medieval 2 Total War and Rom Total War (Kingdoms and Alexander, which I got so I could play some mods), Torchlight 2, GTA IV Complete, and a couple giftable copies of Time Gentlemen Please to save for the future. GTA 4 I bought at the stat and everything else I paid for with trading card money (and I still have $5).

I rewatched the first episode of Samurai Jack a day or two ago, which may or may not lead to me rewatching the whole series. Damn, that show is so good. I'm not super excited for new Legend of Korra, but I am slightly excited. I don't like it as much as the original series, but there are some things I really like about it (and the rest I just normal level like).

I've been reading Strangers in Paradise. I'm not very far in, I just finished the first 3 issue series and issue one of the next one, but so far it's really good and the art is amazing.

I also finished it yesterday. There are a few things that annoy me about the show, but as a whole it's really good.
