    Well shit
  2. Net Neutrality

I know Google is big on net neutrality, I wonder where Google fiber will land in regards to this if it does go through.
  3. Dual audio in Games (The Weaboo's Lament)

Yeah, I'm probably more likely to buy a game on Steam if I scroll down and see that it has multiple supported languages listed under full audio.
  4. Dual audio in Games (The Weaboo's Lament)

I usually will do what's mentioned above and play games in their native language, which is partly because of the pacing and also just a matter of setting when that's relevant. Russian just felt so much better in Metro since the other option was a hearing Steve Blum trying to do a Russian accent. That's another negative for English, there are so many voice actors that are just in everything, like Jennifer Hale, and when I hear them it's distracting because it just makes think of the actor and not the character. I'm assuming it's like this in Japanese games too, but I don't play very many Japanese games and very few with Japanese audio. If the game has a lot of action I would probably just play it in English so I wouldn't have to read subtitles, though usually narrative moments with talking are separate from the parts of the game where I'm going to be busy looking somewhere else on the screen. The one situation where I wouldn't need subtitles would be German, but that's basically only adventure games so there's going to be subtitles anyways (I guess there's also the Gothic games, though I haven't played any of them despite owning Gothic 3, Risen, and Risen 2). Jumping back to the setting thing, the reverse is also true as I would never want to play Professor Layton where he is Japanese instead of English. I also tried watching Baccano! on Hulu or something and it was in Japanese and I just stopped and waited until I found the dub somewhere (I think Netflix, but it's not on Netflix anymore) and it was so much better having people speak English even if some of the New York accents weren't the best.
  5. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

https://www.humblebundle.com/ A super good deal for people who want to check out some new series', I really like all of these, with the one exception probably being Morning Glories, though I think I only read the first couple issues and I don't even really remember much other than I didn't feel like it was something I wanted to keep reading though. Lazarus, Fatale, Chew, Revival, East of West, and Saga are all great though and I've mentioned basically all of them already in this thread.
  6. Dual audio in Games (The Weaboo's Lament)

    Nice
  7. DOTA 2

I mean I guess it is because it goes twice as far as the person you click on so if they're over 500 units away you have to aim, but the part where you click on someone and hit them without aiming isn't a skillshot because it can't be dodged. I'll call it a skill shot, but a low skill shot.
  8. DOTA 2

    I don't consider Lion's skill a skill shot, but Nyx I do.
  9. The Dresden Files

I read the first three books and liked them, but then I got sidetracked and haven't read any more. I should probably remedy that. One thing though, I read the first two books and then watched the show and when I read the third I could only picture Harry as Paul Blackthorn.
  10. So I guess VAC bans are global so my friend who got banned from CS:Source in 2006 can't go online in this, meaning no PvP. I always assumed VAC bans were only for the particular game and then all source games were together, but I've never been banned so I dunno.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

So Duncan Jones is doing the Warcraft movie? I'm actually interested now. http://cdn1-www.superherohype.com/assets/uploads/2014/04/warcraftset1.jpg
  12. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Oh yeah, I read the first volume of Casanova (I didn't care for it). I mostly meant I wanted to read volume 4 when it comes out as it is going to have backup stories written by Gabriel Ba (and Michael Chabon). I probably still won't like it though.
  13. Anyone visiting their Kickstarter forums

I browsed the Massive Chalice forums a fair amount for a while, but now I'm so out of the loop due to being busy with school that if I have the time I watch team streams. Speaking of which in the forums it seemed like there were a lot of DF guys posting about ideas they liked that they were forwarding on to other guys, but the team streams especially seems also always have a great level of direct communication with the guys on the game. I'm also in the backers forum for this other thing I backed on Kickstarter, but it's kind of a secret.
  14. Films of Wes Anderson

Yeah, this is what I was trying to get at. I'm a little surprised to see just how much people seemed to like this relative to other Wes Anderson films. I enjoyed it a lot, but I would personally put Life Aquatic, Moonrise Kingdom, and Fantastic Mr. Fox if I were to rank them, so I'm curious if this is because of how much you liked Grand Budapest or if you didn't like stuff in his other movies. I actually don't really have a feel at all for how much people generally like Mr. Fox. I love it, but I'm biased because I love anything with the Cloon-dog.
  15. Jazz

Whoops, I almost forgot about this. Also re: Ronald Bruner Jr.
  16. Films of Wes Anderson

I think a good movie could be made just in the hotel, but I don't think Wes Anderson would do it. It also would mean no Edward Norton. Maybe Noah Baumbach could have done it, in my brain he's a more restrained Wes Anderson who focuses more on the characters than the wacky antics. Maybe restrained isn't the right word, focused?
  17. Films of Wes Anderson

This is all the stuff I liked about the movie. I didn't really care about any of the characters in particular, but I liked the stuff that happened so I enjoyed the movie because it was basically just a fun ride.
  18. Hipsters

There's also He's not trying to be ironic of funny, this was part of a project he did called 1000 Years of Popular Music I've seen him a bunch of times and he's played it a couple times and when he does he usually talks about how he actually likes the song and thinks there's a level of craft to it (and other pop songs) that people don't recognize. I was thinking about it and the Jimi Hendrix cover of All Along the Watchtower is basically the opposite of these acoustic covers.
  19. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

http://saveusfromthearchon.bandcamp.com/album/thereafter-2 Really good proggy instrumental metal, probably my favorite metal album this year and I really liked the new Animals as Leaders. Not similar at all, this has a lot of light ambient stuff and no heavy 8-string stuff.
  20. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

The deluxe hardcover came out yesterday and I picked it up since my issues are loaned out to someone. Man Daytripper is gorgeous, and I don't just mean the art. As far as I'm considered the wonder twins can do no wrong, after reading this again I now want to read Casanova even though I don't usually like Matt Fraction.
  21. Sports

Assuming the Bruins make it through it's going to be interesting seeing Chara and Pacioretty playing against each other again.
  22. Hipsters

I skimmed through the past couple pages so I hope I didn't miss anything, I just came to ask if it's okay to like the Chris Cornell version of Billie Jean.
  23. Sports

Man the Sharks won in overtime and I was starting to get stressed out. I want the Bruins to win, but I want it to be in San Jose, so I'm committed to the cause for now.
  24. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Well chances are that in any anthology there's going to be good things and bad things, I wouldn't let one thing ruin the whole collection if you think you'll like it and enjoyed the other stuff you've seen in the preview. I just skimmed through the table of contents and it looks like out of 328 pages he has just that one 6 page piece. By the way, the book is only around $20 on amazon.
  25. SolForge - Another free to play CCG

The only thing I know about the game is that Brian Kibler was involved with it and hypes it a lot, but I don't know if that means anything given he still only plays Magic.
