  1. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

New Flashbulb album out today, I'm excited https://theflashbulb.bandcamp.com/releases
  2. DOTA 2

Yeah it is nice, and you can link to it. There was a nice writeup on the North American scene the other day. A good read for anyone watching the qualifier games today. http://www.liquiddota.com/forum/dota-2-general/3060-ti4-americas-the-new-world
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

I just watched Zelig for the second time and I still have no idea how I feel about it. I'm pretty sure I like it, and it's good, but I think I might need to see it a third time to fully get it.
  4. Yeah, I don't mean to defend it, I agree it should happen less, but I don't like when the conversation on professionalism ends at stoppign people from being immature. There's so much more that needs to be addressed about both players and event organizers.
  5. I mean they were all annoyed at Na'Vi for pausing after they were down 5k a couple minutes into the game and trying to force a remake. It doesn't normally happen and in terms of professionalism I don't find it near as bad as the less obvious stuff like the server shenanigans C9 always pulls or any of the shady stuff Na'Vi does.
  6. I think that nicknames are good since unlike regular sports you don't see the players outside of big LAN events so it's easier to associate a person with a nickname than their last name. Also, they're always going to have nicknames since most people in general don't use their real names when playing online and pro players start off as normal people.
  7. DOTA 2

I mean I could see it being someone dumping a ton of money to get a bunch of immortal items and then turn a profit later on. I know there are a ton of people doing that, but obviously not to the same extent. It could also just be fake or maybe an exploit someone found.Edit: Regarding the cost to rent out Key Arena, I'm more surprised ESL One has managed to get the World Cup Stadium in Frankfurt.
  8. DOTA 2

Anyone else feel kind of weird about the whole pay us more money to level up your compendium? Also some of the rewards seem a little suspect, like they're basically charging for -ardm which was super big in WC3 and I figured was a given in Dota 2 at some point. The immortal items are cool, the ones last year were fun, but now there's also the arcana thing where you're giving Valve money to pick a hero for an item you can buy for $35. I dunno...
  9. RIP Nintendo, 1889-2016

I mean if someone told me it already existed in Japan I would just accept it without a second thought.
  10. Nintendo 3DS

My favorite games were D/P/Pt followed, by G/S, but since there's the remakes I can just lump them all into Gen IV. Gen V I hated and I didn't really play the gba games very much though I own Emerald.
  11. Does it? Alright then, this is what I was hoping would happen, I guess I just never noticed it unless I failed and it wasn't restored so I assumed it never did.
  12. I actually do have one problem with the durability system, it's that if you co-op you're basically going to have to use a bonfire after or use a different weapon. I'll drop my sign and then continue playing solo until I get summoned and I usually have to either use a worse weapon while waiting to be summoned or use it while in the other player's world so that when I fight a boss and get back to my world my weapon isn't broken. If I'm just trying to kill bosses for tokens and there's a bonfire nearby it's no big deal, but sometimes I'll just drop my sign randomly when I'm playing and keep going, and then drop it again wherever I am when I get back from being summoned and do the same thing.
  13. Rocksmith

Just play guitar with thimbles on all your fingers and you'll be fine.
  14. There are certain weapons like Ricard's Rapier that are balanced by the fact that they break really really fast, and there's the spear that's indestructible so durability adds a fair amount to the game, for me at least.
  15. DOTA 2

Yeah this is how it's been in my experience too.
  16. Nintendo 3DS

Wow until you made the comment about it being legit I totally thought this was fake. Yeah I'm definitely getting sapphire
  17. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

Oh man it's out, I'm super excited, but also scared. Edit: wow it's over 16 gigs.
  18. Is there any indication that this game is coming out in a year? I wouldn't have a problem with bi-annual releases, though as long as the games are good which so far they have been I'll buy them even if they pump them out like an EA Sports game. I also feel like this is probably going to be another souls game with the mist gate and all. From was just recently purchased by Kadokawa and I wonder if that will have any impact on this game, though if it's been in development for a while it probably wont. I'm personally down with shotguns.
  19. Sports

Watching Suarez cry was rough, and I don't like Suarez.
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I really liked it, but I saw it in theaters and that means I would have been 14. I don't actually remember much about it, but I think I actually thought it was good rather than I thought it was cool so I should probably rewatch it.
  21. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

You can try going to a local comic store, they'll usually buy old issues, though some only buy gold and silver age stuff. Even if they don't buy issues they'll probably know somewhere that will that isn't like Ebay.
  22. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

Just read Southern Bastards #1 which dropped Wednesday and it's so good. I expected it to be really good, but man it's amazing. It's by Jason Aaron and Jason Latour who, Jason Aaron was the writer of Scalped which is just behind Preacher on my list of favorite Vertigo books, and both of them are from the south which shows. It's about a guy named Earl returning to his hometown in Alamaba and stuff going on there. There's also a couple great essays by Aaron and Latour in the back on what this book means to them personally and they're great reads. My book of the year so far, really excited for next month's issue. This page is basically all you need to see.
  23. Regarding effigies: personally I just played through at half health and didn't really have a problem, in that when I died it was the result of not knowning what I was doing and using an effigy would have been a waste as I'd end up dying anyways. There's also a ring you can get really early that makes the health loss cap even lower so you'll stay at around 70‰ HP. You can also become human again by being summoned by another player and if you're having trouble it can be nice to be able to practice a boss without having to worry about dying when you're summoned as there aren't any consequences. The early bosses are all really simple fights, but later on it can be nice to figure out what's going on in the encounters before trying them for real.
  24. Sports

Bruins game was so stressful, 3-1 to 5-3 in the last 10 minutes of the third.
  25. Sutro Baths; aka the Rapture of San Francisco

Wow, I've never even heard of it, this is now really high up on my list of places to visit and I'll probably try and go this summer.
