I was disappointed when I saw "sub cvr" and then Rausch and realized Gabriel Hardman was not doing interiors. Not a fan of Drew Rausch, though I guess I can see why they picked him I guess.

It sucks that Esad Ribic isn't on it as his work in Thor God of Thunder was absolutely gorgeous, but at least Jason Aaron is writing it so it will probably be good.

My friend cuts the word jumble out of the paper every day and puts them in his wallet in case he gets bored. You could do the same and then approach one of the thumbs and ask for help. The crossword might be better since I think Remo is a crossword guy.

Yeah, I also liked when Penguin did a similar thing for their Penguin Classics line of books and he did the cover for Frankenstein.

I don't know how I missed this, but you should totally check out Jim Rugg, Jasen Lex, and Ed Piskor's podcast Tell Me Something I Don't Know.http://boingboing.net/tag/tmsidk It's not like a weekly show discussing the new books that have come out, it's an interview show with various creators. The very first episode is with Gary Groth who founded both The Comics Journal and also Fantagraphics (The company that publishes things like Eightball, Love & Rockets, Black Hole, and Chris Ware's stuff among others). I would say at the very least give that a listen to hear some stuff about the indie side of comics. Edit: there was also another episode pretty early on with the guy who does design work for Criterion on all there covers and was the one who commissioned the covers that are done by comic artists.

Well I mean there are arcs of the comic that deal with it directly. It could make a good game, I agree, but I think the point of having the game set before the comics was so they'd avoid overlap with the comics.

They generally stay the age they are in their fable, but it's not very consistent.

This is pretty much it. Keep in mind Fables don't die of old age or anything so once you get sent to the farm you're there forever. It's not like getting sent to a gulag, but you're still trapped on a farm.

For the domestic league here, MLS, it's actually pretty hard to watch since it's not big enough that they play it on ESPN, but every local game I get over the air which is nice as I no longer have cable. Speaking of which, not having cable has been pretty rough in terms of watching the world cup. The finals have all been on ABC (meaning I get them over the air), but I think every USA game I had to watch at a bar or someone else's house.

Everyone on Liquid besides Demon is really nice, TC is the nicest guy I've ever seen. Well Demon is nice too, but he's also a man child. I don't think the NA scene is any worse than any other scene, maybe EU West. The racist stuff that went in in China where DK and IG got boycotted from scrims for having non-chinese players was absurd. Also Rotk is insane. And CIS teams are CIS teams. Basically it's like any sport, lots of people are assholes, but they're good at something so they get by. In this case most of them just also start much younger than athletes so they grow up immersed in it and grow up as very large babies.

Liquid were really good before, I don't know what you're talking about. When they had Korok they were the best NA team.

Help me forget about Olly Moss and move on with my life

When I was like 11 I found out Jhonen Vasquez lived like 10-15 minutes away from me and I wanted to be friends with him. It never worked out for some strange reason. I pray that you may succeed where I failed. -
I'm pretty sure they don't want anyone to have additional vertical space, given that playing on 1920x1200 makes my screen smaller on the sides rather than taller. At the very least if they made more vertical screen real-estate available it would have balance implications. Things like potm arrows are obviously much harder to dodge when they come from the top or bottom of the screen and if you watch high level players they're very much aware of it and will try and position themselves for it.

I'm saddened MvC2 isn't in Evo and haven't really watched it since. I watched Smash last year and a little this year but I don't play it so I haven't watched a whole bunch.

The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Not a fan, I'm kind of surprised they're back together since it really seemed like they hated each other, but I guess their one off festival show at Coachella was probably pretty lucrative since they've been keeping it up since. I guess if Pink Floyd are putting out another album (albeit without Waters) anything can happen. -
I should probably get that. Despite not actually opening my 3ds for over a month I still carry it with me every day and a lot of the time I don't plug it in when I get home because the cable has fallen down behind the desk I charge it on and I don't care enough to fish it out. If I had this it'd be like having a bowl for keys or whatever by your door and when I got home I could just set my 3ds down and then pick it up when I leave.

I remember seeing something about it probably a year ago or so, but just that he was announcing it was going to be delayed until Fall 2014 and other than that I know nothing about it.

I feel it's a bit of a shame for Germany because the focus is all on Brazil playing bad and not how absolutely amazing Germany played. They were playing out of their minds.
-
I don't feel bad for Brazil because if it weren't for the Fred dive/PK they literally would not have made it out of group stages, so they should be happy just to have been in the semis.

I've been watching a lot of Columbo the last few months and I love it. I just got to the episode with William Shatner a few nights ago and I think it's my new favorite. I would hate to see a reboot as I just can't see the show without Peter Falk, but I guess that probably just makes me close-minded.

So I've been reading some of my sister's old Archie Digests and man these are great. This is a good idea, if people wanted to do this the "Best Graphic Album" winners makes a pretty good list to choose from.

Nice. I'm probably just going to go with my usual -
I can't speak for other places, but the public libraries near me are all really good in terms of what I can get a hold of. Using books that are likely to be in public library catalogs seems like a good idea. I remember really liking One Bad Rat a whole lot, but it's been so long that I don't remember it that well. I love Bryan Talbot.

Yeah it's really good, I gave my copy to a friend and immediately bought it again because it's just so fun to flip through. In terms of design sense Jim Rugg is as good as it gets.

Picked up some new books, and by new I mean mostly books that I'd read but either didn't own, or wanted better copies of. Really looking forward to Klezmer, I really like Joann Sfar's other stuff.
