  1. Is that that "slord" guy who's just been posting "neat!" in a bunch of threads? If so, and he's reading this, you sound like a bot. Please actually say something real or you will probably be banned. Junking up threads with useless things like that is not exactly going to endear you to the community. Just some friendly advice.

Ya, my apologies. I'm not entirely sure if he's ever been apart of a forum community hah. That and he's probably not on his A game today after last night (ole one-foot-in-the-grave just turned 30 and we weren't too gentle w/ him).

  2. I wasn't able to get on the server earlier so I was in my single player flat world game where I experiment with all sorts of nonsense.

Anyways, I came up with a brand new station concept that honestly, has made me a little giddy (haven't found any youtube videos/forum posts about my particular design ^_^). All of it makes use of the two new track pieces and is completely free of door or perpetual motion boosters.

Right now it's just a prototype and is mainly showcasing arrival/departure functionality (flashing light for incoming passanger; pez dispenser with overflow rejection and indicator light for full/empty; automated cart return to dispenser and failsafe; etc) . Eventually I'll setup a switching system for up to 16 destinations.

I'm going to try and make a video tonight so show how it works, but I've never attempted such a thing before; does anyone have suggestions for recording software? I've used FRAPS like 5 or 6 years ago for something once I remember but if there's something better please let me know.

  3. so according to the bukkit folks we may be waiting for a bit due to them expecting notch to push a few bugfixes through in the next week or so. fortunately none of the 1.5 additions are life altering so sticking with 1.4 until then is just fine. although i have thought of a few things to do with powered rail lines that aren't riding on them, so i guess there's that.

Ya, I read their blog and forums about delaying 1.5 until the bugs are worked out on Notch's end.

I'm going to post a youtube video sometime tonight/tomorrow morning of doing a bunch of speed testing w/ the new powered rails. they're not too shabby if used correctly.

  4. hmm you're right, according to the wiki.

you know what i think i might try is to still use cart boosters, but simplify the booster mechanism. in theory with powered track you should only need a simple loop with one cart with some boosters. unless boost speed is related to the relative stored momentum in the boosting cart?

    ugh

I was thinking the same thing. Simple loop boosters in the right spots might be enough (mid way points and whatnot for longer routes). At least it'll hopefully cut down on the number of boosters you have to chain for doordrop setups.

  5. One of my friends got a golden potato for doing all the indie games so he's been playing it for a few hours now the bastard.

    Also, it's now unlocked!

    Also, also, SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

  6. In my single player game I've had going forever now, I have a rather nice station that has gone through a hundred revisions to the point where it's pretty decent! You can choose from 8 destinations from a single launching point and an automated cart return/call system from the central hub.

Granted, it's huge for what it does and took me forever to put together and due to all the revisions the wiring is definitely of the spaghetti variety :shifty: but I'm proud of it all the same ^_^

  7. I know it sounds silly, but I have my reservations about powered rails. One of things about this game that appealed to me the most was that there were a lot of "features" that weren't in it and people had to come up with their own methods to implement them (like cart boosting).

Most of the time I'm all for convenience, but this game makes me shy from it. Powered rails feel like the first step down a dark path hah.

  8. I'd been holding off on this game, but for $5 I'll give it a shot - bugs and all hah.

My friends and I had been looking for something new anyways... We're getting rather burnt out on League of Legends for something to just pick up and play for an hour at a time.

  9. Hello.

I'm mostly here for the Minecraft as I've pretty much done nothing but play single player since I got it way back when and it'd be nice to roam around with people for a change :x

Also, if I ever get confident in my multiplayer Shogun 2: TW abilities I might throw down with you guys on that.
