  1. Feminism

It wasn't meant to be a comment supporting rape or sexual assault, but rather one about censorship and the shirt-pulling pouring gasoline on a sensitive discussion. I know we did a poor job of elaborating on that on stage, and as the guy moving the discussion along at the Q&A, I'm really sorry for that. No dude, making the shirt was throwing fuel on the fire. Also, they're really sorry for not making it more clear that they regret censoring themselves, not antagonizing supporters or survivors of sexual assault. Also, claiming their new policy is to not discuss complaints at the same time lamenting that they withdrew the monetization of the complaints is rich.

    Cool! Thanks all!

Selling those shirts goes beyond a simple "failure to understand" or even "artistic disagreement" about the power and role of comedy. Selling the merch is direct antagonization. To say that "stopping the sale of stuff we made to antagonize people who objected to our rape jokes" was a mistake goes beyond the pale. it's picking a side, and the side is "shut up and take our shit, women."

Shadowrun Returns I definitely enjoyed this, and can see it having a lot of future potential. Fun little noir story, and I liked the tactical combat. There are a number of areas where I think they could really expand, which gives me a more positive feeling about a game. The difference between "it would be great I could do more of this" vs "I wish it didn't do this." I like how it lets you build your own class, with essentially no "game oversight." I wound up with a Pistol/Rigger. The drones were nice, though sending them through the vents was almost always a waste of their action points, as it always seemed to take at least 2 APs, when walking around would take 1. Drones should move fast/or get some kind of bonus in those situations. I also picked up a bunch of decking skills, which were needed for certain plot missions, but I wish I could use those skills as more tactical support. I hope the next major module is a bit more open.
  5. Lord Remo really ought to change his username.

Oh wow! Thanks. I never knew the NES had a mic. God, that sounds amazing.
  7. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

I felt like the structure is that Katie is reading the book, and remembering the act of piecing things together, as she reads a journal entry it gives context to an item she saw, sort of opposite to how the player experiences it. She's exploring the memory. It can also account for players finding things in different orders.

Beat Takeshi? Violent Cop? what game?!
  9. The Dancing Thumb (aka: music recommendations)

Yeah, I heard that Earl record was good, I'm a bit more interested in light of his recent attitude change. I can't hang with that OF stuff for those reasons. I liked El-P's Cancer record a lot, more than the 2nd one. I also dug his production on R.A.P. Music. Great record. I kind of checked out of rap generally after the decline of the Wu-Tang era. Speaking of, Ghostface's 12 Ways is real good too. haha.

It's easier than talking about FEELINGS. Also, I really love GH, but I hope some of the interest surrounding this shines a light back on Kentucky Route Zero. I think some of the surreal elements will probably prevent it from grabbing a broader audience.
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Haha, yeah, I'm glad somebody went there. I didn't want to be negative. I'm old enough to have seen most of his movies, and can only hang with Blazing Saddles. "Why do i always get the warped one?" I love dropping that when I'm messing something up.

i think the best rap record i've heard this year is the Run the Jewels lp.

Man, I love that BiSKaidan record! It's like the full realization of the disruptive power of the internet as a cultural fragmentation agent, that these two things get to co-exist. Hojikaidan has been working since the late 70s.

making the rounds today: Adorable J-Pop Idols BiS collaborate with long time brutal noise kings Hijokaidan

Oh man, secret room! My old adventure game training kept telling me to bring mitten's collar from Sam's closet to the basement and fix the missing call bell. Also, I agree with Argobot about the style. It reminds me of something they talked about on the cast, which is the focus on the small, or a deep exploration of a contained space. I hope the next project has some physical characters. I'm kind of fascinated how much I enjoyed the game, when one of it's core mechanics (audio logs) are something i don't think is particularly thrilling in and of itself. Ultimately, it really works in Gone Home, because the game is so much about exploring a memory as much as a space.
  16. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

Hmm. I didn't intend to open a 3rd front in the console war, but I will concede that if you are a machineless person and looking to buy a sunsetting console, than the PS3 is a far better investment. Ironically, we used 3 PS3 controllers, because they sync with the lil' box. Cool news about the PC Port. How would one sync 4 controllers to that?
  17. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

TowerFall is hysterically fun with 4 people. If we had this in college we would have worn it out, instead of Goldeneye. I don't think cinematic single player games are fair comparisons!
  18. Ouya: Ooooh Yeah!

I got a chance to mess with one this weekend, and it's pretty neat. If you have 4+ friends around to play games with, Tower Fall is just spectacular, and totally worth buying an Ouya for. It's the most fun local competitive & co-op I've had in a game in a long time.
  19. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

Woof, brutal. An extended JeffK meets RedLetterMedia riff with commenters beating the exact same "idiot gamer" dead horse. I'm staring into a black hole.
  20. Gone Home from The Fullbright Company

That tattoo is incredible. I saw somebody tweeted at Steve about DLC, and he answered noncommittally. I hope he was just being amicable, as I feel like any more information would dispel some of the magic. Though, I think you could do something great with Daniel's story.

oh man, there you go christmas duck!
  22. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

i posted this before, but I agree that Witcher 1 is good. It's just really weird, mechanically. #2 plays like a tight over the shoulder action game, but the overworld of 1 is more a click to move, Neverwinter Nights style.
  23. I don't remember there being a podcast chat about what happened to Sean! (not that it's my business, or feel entitled to know). Are you still going to ride, or has it become verboten?
  24. The Witcher 3: What Geralt Wants

Definitely one of mine! (warts and all)
