  1. Guild Wars 2

Compared to the press betas, I'm finding it much harder to level up. Back then, it seemed like I could do half the hearts in a zone, the story missions and some random exploration and be ready to move on to the next zone. Currently, I'm doing all the heart quests, all the story quests, some WvW when I can get it, and still finding myself not high enough level to move onto the next zone. After playing WoW, it seems weird to be forced to see everything in a zone before moving out. It basically ends up with me either hating the zone as I'm forced to grind the same events, or go to another zone early and postpone (and make worse) the cycle of being underleveled. The content itself is pretty fun, I just wish the exp rates weren't slashed so severely. And I do wish there was a bit more enemy model variation. So far in the Human lands it's just all centaurs all day. /dump (I'm currently working through BSG and this icon makes me happy)
  2. Guild Wars 2

Eh, at least you know what you're getting. Especially on EU servers, finding a decent English-speaking server is better than taking a random chance and accidentally finding yourself on the unofficial Russian-only server.
  3. Anthony Burch, lead writer of Borderlands 2, speaks out on gender equality and female portrayal in media all the time. Hoping he puts his money where his mouth is when it comes to his actual game. (For anecdote's sake, in the latest trailer, the voice over comments on the female character's fighting proficiency instead of her looks/boobs/etc. Haven't seen anything else of the game so this could be a once-off grace.) Also I am intrigued by the mention of secret documents concerning the DayZ stream. Was this to do with Evan dying just as the stream ended?
  4. Guild Wars 2

If there's enough of us playing, we could always do a Thumbs guild. Since you can join multiple guilds, it doesn't really matter if it's super small. I heard Neogaf's starting up on the Gandara (EU) and Stormbluff Isles (US) servers, so I might tag along to the EU one.
  5. Dominion was a much less interesting game than original lording. Compared to lording, psuedo-Arathi Basin has so much less depth or tactics. I don't think any other mode will ever eclipse lording, but putting out a lame 10 man capture scramblefest and then saying "The audience just doesn't want any other mode" is a bit of a stretch.
  6. I just looked up a video of Pudge Wars and now I am truly baffled.
  7. A Song Of Ice And Fire

    Spoiler:
  8. A Song Of Ice And Fire

I think I read somewhere that he has a basic outline of what will happen, but the road there is less defined. I worry less about a Lost ending than a Robert Jordan situation; where the plot become so bogged down by a billion characters and endless minutia that the series expands glacially to a ridiculous length, and then the author dies before ever wrapping it up. I think it's fair to say the pace of the series has overall slumped a bit since the first book. While the latest book may have been better in terms of pacing, it also took him like 6 years. He says it'll take two more books to finish (I think that will probably creep up to a 3 - 4 range) and at 6 years a pop, it doesn't look too good. So yeah, GRR Martin, write like the wind. EDIT: Oh, and I heard he told the HBO showrunners his plans for the end as part of his contract. So at least you'll have some closure.
  9. Special guest Kangaroo Jack. He took the right channel and he's not giving it back.
  10. I would be up for some Crown Conquest or whatever else. If we had less people we could always do singles instead of teams.
  11. Then in 6 months we can have a Dota vs LoL tournament in HoN or some other lord management game.
  12. This being the era of airships and lording golems, I decided to resurrect the HMS Horsebag. The ship hull and the balloon are now finished, with just some belowdecks furnishing left (and maybe a giant saddle on top).
  13. Sticking with the korean theme...
  14. I used to play LoL on a touchpad for months. Before I realised just how bad it was. If the buttons have a decent response time it's doable but nowhere near recommendable.
  15. Music of the games of video

Stewart Copeland (of The Police) composed all the original Spyro soundtracks. Super cool music, thematically consistent and is basically all anybody thinks about when they reminisce about that era of platforming games.
  16. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

Turns out he was overstating his level of readiness. No betrayal though. The enemy was able to react straight away and severely undermined the main push. At this point I'll settle for mutual destruction.
  17. Neptune's Bountiful Pride 6!

This game. This goddamn game. Been playing in a match for ~2 weeks now, and me and a half-dead partner are being slowly bullied into submission by a slightly larger nation. After days of planning, tonight is the night we finally swap all our tech and turn on him. I scavenged through our diplomacy messages trying to eke out any information I could use to help. I studied his sleep pattern to prepare for the best opportunity to strike. If he finds out we are planning this we're both dead. So I stayed up, and have just locked my ships on route to his system, all the while checking the map to make sure he's actually gone to bed and hasn't set up some horrible trap for us. This game. EDIT: The man does not sleep. We have been caught.
  18. Doctor me up, Thumbs

No medical degree, but here's what I got. Those are all (maybe besides the entire arm going numb) common allergic reactions. The fact that you were symptom-free once you left the country points to it being environmental -- in your house probably and not necessarily food or drink. Personally, there's one brand of washing detergent that just makes me break out in hives horribly. Can you think of any patterns between the onset of the symptoms and use of certain soaps, perfumes etc? EDIT: Oh yeah, stress can cause all of these things too and is really hard to rule out until an actual allergy test is done. (But even then, they can be really iffy)
  19. Legal rights for dolphins and whales

Who says that the 'lack of food' and 'too many children' problems can't cancel themselves out? I'll show myself out.
  20. Just had a game where I was Shadow Demon in lane with a Sand King. TWICE when I went in to initiate with Disruption, SK also initiated, knocking the enemy up and putting SK under my cursor as I clicked. Let's just say he wasn't very impressed.
  21. So Diablo 3 would have been a better game if the Treasure Goblin turned out to be the final boss?
