It didn't take long for this kinda crap to show up: When I was in gradeschool, we learned about Mandela just as he was getting out of prison. It wasn't until I became an adult that I realized the impact of all that going on back when I was a kid. What a guy.

I really am just having a hard time finding the issue of contention. The players can still play the games, just not stream them. In other news, Bitcoins are now accepted by the Ouya team to buy Ouya devices. That's... well, I don't imagine these people lasting through 2014. http://www.polygon.com/2013/12/5/5177946/ouya-now-accepts-bitcoin-payments -

If that's the case, can you cite whatever fallout occurred after, or dealings had to happen beforehand? -
The conversation about content and stretch goals is why I started to lose interest in Starbound - at least as far as keeping tabs on how its development is turning out. When they did a crowdfund/ presale for it, they started adding stretch goals and then daily development blog updates. Before then, the game had so much going for it that it was enough. All I wanted was for them to finish it up and ship it. But then it started to be a new feature fest, and the oversaturation of messaging was just obnoxious to deal with. It was kinda surprising to 180 on a game I was so excited for. And I still am, but I just stopped looking for the last half year because enough is enough.

I imagine that depends on the contract / terms of employment. -

The scope is still super limited and it only affects streaming. I'm currently caught up in an argument on this news elsewhere - some people are saying it's mistreatment of employees. I'm of the position that this is fair business. They're paid to promote a specific thing, so don't promote the competition. This isn't a new concept at all. I do agree that some of those games are weird since they aren't the same genre, but as I said it's just a few of them so whatever. There's tons of games to have people watch you play. -

League of Legends players are banned, by Riot games, from streaming competitors' titles. http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/12/05/riot-comes-under-fire-for-league-of-legends-pro-contracts Welcome to the dumb side of competitive sports, video games. -
Oh no, the Year of Luigi ends tragically.

Does anyone remember that it's

Not shown on the Far Cry 2 title art is the bus stop the guy is perpetually waiting at.

I just had my first buddy die on me. Poor Fiona! So I decided I need a new best buddy to give me missions. I went to Mike's and there's Warren, just kinda standing there. I brought him a bag of pot and he's my new best buddy.

Wait this game has fast travel?

Oh sweet, then switch to DX9 I shall because why not. I just hope this fire propagation doesn't hurt from it because molotovs are African savanahs' best friend.

Huh. It just closes out, no error message or nothin'. It usually happens when I'm using the Steam overlay, or when I open a door. But just now it did it when I was running around doing shit. Let me try a restart, see if it's some goofy RAM issue.

Hey so uh, is the game known for crashing frequently at random? Or is that something I should try to fix?

Sales over in the UK: PS4: 250k units in 48 hours XBO: 170k units in 2 weeks Wii U: 150k units all year Edit - As a bonus, here's a compiled list of what it takes to unlock everything in Skylanders Swap Force: Source: http://www.ign.com/wikis/skylanders-swap-force/Minimum_Toys_Needed I mentioned this in the "end of the generation" thread, but basically we're going to be going through some tough times regarding micro-transactions as that is the new thing that arose but didn't get a final solution (oh god why did I write that). -
I just started playing this game today. I got a little frustrated at one part of the sort-of-tutorial, since the mission giver indicated that I was supposed to meet someone at a weapon shack but I was instead supposed to buy a weapon to progress, but after that I started to see what this game is really about. I mean, REALLY about. On that note, I learned the hard way that: - Just driving into camps to fight them head on is a bad idea. - Just driving THROUGH camps to avoid the fight is also a bad idea. Anyway Far Cry 2. This will probably be my next two weeks.

Chris' note about the new version of The Shivah is like my favorite thing. Amazing, I'll probably buy that just to support the awesome 90sness of it.

Two bits. First, Ghostcrawler (a designer / community manager) is leaving Blizzard. Lotsa people don't like him, but I adore him because he carefully walked that line of telling jackoff community members / babies to sit down and shut up. Second, Sega had some things to say about the Atlus acquisition. Among those things said were that Atlus is retaining autonomy, and also Atlus is free to use any dormant IPs that Sega owns. Any Jet Set Radio fans out there? http://www.siliconera.com/2013/11/27/atlus-free-use-dormant-sega-ip-says-company-president/ -

We'd need to wait for mid-December to see how the PS4's sales actually went for realsies. (oh my god "realsies" is an actual word according to my spellchecker) In other news, John Carmack just left id Software today. Like for good, no longer splitting his time between it and Oculus Rift. So... Wow that sucks for id! -

Well the other thing is that quality doesn't necessarily discern great business (in this case, sales), because of opinions and such. But yeah mostly what Gormongus said. At any rate I saw some news flashes in Google that the company was clarifying it is not abandoning console game development. But it sure as hell sounded like it. In other business news, Gamestop has noted that they've sold out their PS4 stock and have a remaining 2.3 million consumers to give one each. -
We've got the tears and now the sweat - you guys just need to work blood into your podcast and you'll have really given it your all. Edit - Oh wait Chris had that story about the nosebleed guy! OH MAN congrats Idle Thumbs 133, you did it! Also I should listen to this episode now rather than marvel at the theme of the description.

I just read that Ninja Theory is leaving console video game development behind, to focus on mobiles only and to focus on their definition of "success" - survival as a business. Their lead gave some sort of presentation where he blamed a "broken AAA console model." Rather than, y'know, blame themselves for making games that don't sell well.
