  1. Did anyone see the Kongs of Fire video? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjHCpYR4zvM

Ha! It only took 88 games but I finally got a win while playing the support role! ... granted it was my 2nd time trying. 1st time playing Lich. The failed attempt was Disruptor. BUT! With Lich it's easier to fund the whole "wards plz" thing we need to have going. Because I can actually kill shit.

Wow okay, that DotAbuff thing is great. I like seeing the thousands of damage I did to towers in games as Lycan. In a twist of fate though, I actually did a piddling amount this match I just played. I tied with the Weaver on my team for 3.5k each. Which is REALLY low for Lycan as far as I'm concerned. Also I found a new hobby on Lycan: Camp my stealthed wolves at the enemy's secret shop and snipe their courier.

Why is it called "rat dota"? I saw this used during the qualifiers and had no idea what people meant.
  5. DOTA 2

    It could happen yes.

My favorite Tranquil Boots trick is, if you're farming like in the jungle, you drop them on the ground, then go get hit / hit something. Pick them up; no waiting for the HP regen.

It's fun to use general knowledge of the game against people. Earlier tonight I played a match as Lycan (my absolute favorite lord now, Spirit Breaker is on the bench). He's known for being a strong pusher, especially with a Necronomicon right? So my team wanted to push a lane, but we weren't quite at the level of taking the enemy out in direct 5v5 fights. So I ran to a different lane before my team gathered for their push and started my own. My hope was to draw at least one of the enemy away so that when my team does their push they have less to deal with - and since I'm Lycan I can pop my ult and get the hell out with no problem. It worked. Lifestealer was waiting at the enemy T2 and KotL warped in to help him, but I was already out. My team was able to push a lane fully to the enemy base, all the way from T1, after taking out the remaining 3. It felt very good. I just wish the game had a way of measuring this kind of shit rather than just "how much shit did you kill?" As for general "I like Lycan discussion," seriously I love the way this guy flows. I can jungle it out to let someone level up a little better, I can chase run-aways, push very well, buff my team for fights I'm not even at yet. Not to mention scouting with the wolves while I do whatever farming I'm on. I'm actually good with him is the best part, on top of enjoying playing him. Oh plus, as someone who likes wolves (the animal itself and any / all culture surrounding that animal) it just comes up all Henroid on this. Edit - Oh and the best part about the feint I pulled is if it didn't work (attract attention) I could've just made it an actual lane push anyway. The only way it could've failed is if I was stun-locked by someone (or an entire team; but I had vision of most of them on the mini map) smart enough to cut me off but that would take some crazy odds.
  8. What about the angry princess who nobody bothers to save, no matter what rescue plots she tries to arrange?
  9. Why not Nightrider? Also every time I think of sentient-cars I think of Doomie from the Beetlejuice cartoon.
  10. A friend just pointed out the Google car is totally Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell.
  11. That image above is the first I'm seeing of the car but it has me in a giggle fit. So pleased.
  12. They could've chosen something that isn't quite a serious real-world issue, or just something that is a crime like "this guy just pickpocketed me!"

Anyone got a list of hard counters against Axe? I'll just copy-paste this from elsewhere on the net: They need to find a way to balance Axe because I'm tired of seeing this bullshit with him: He goes into the enemy long lane, between the two towers. And just farms creep waves that way. He's not even threatened by the creep waves because of Counter Helix proc'ing so goddamn much. It leaves you alone to fight creep waves with the tower (god forbid you're by yourself because you have a jungler). And at the start of the game creep waves can and will fuck up most heroes. You can't run to engage Axe, because then your tower is vulnerable as shit as enemy creep waves stack like hell. This problem also gets harder depending on who is with Axe. Like this time it was Treant; game fucking over. Our laning phase was shut down (SB and Sniper). You also can't devote people from other lanes to trying to fight Axe, because the tradeoff is weakening one guy on the enemy team while weakening your entire team across the whole map. It's total bullshit and exploitative. How is this not fucking addressed?

We were shut down, we couldn't farm at all. It was a disaster. What isn't a disaster is my Compendium 10 Lord Challenge. My initial roll for lords left me with 4 that I knew how to play / could easily learn. I tried to get my fifth win on Disruptor but support heroes are hard as dicks. I also had Meepo, which is like the ultimate smack in the face to someone still learning the ropes. So I finally gave in and used my reroll. I couldn't believe who came up. Dragon Knight, Legion Commander, Morphling, Silencer, Bounty Hunter, and Spirit Breaker. I know these heroes. I don't have real-match experience with some of them but I've done plenty of bot practice, guide reading, and discussion about all of them and most importantly feel comfortable playing them all. Plus Spirit Breaker is literally my best hero (14 wins, 6 losses on him). The only x-factor is Silencer, who can either be support or carry. If I keep falling into matches where people demand me to play the supporting roll I won't be able to roll him up into the power house he becomes.
  15. DOTA 2

I just lost to an amazing combo of heroes. Some stupidity from my support (not getting wards) wasn't helping but the enemy team didn't need it. Imagine just getting caught by a surprise tornado from Invoker. Then he mana bombs you. Then imagine that Disruptor puts a cage around you. Then Pugna starts doing his shit. And Wraith King and Viper show up as security to keep you from being auto-attack offensive, and to keep you from running. Now imagine all that... applying to your entire team at the same time
  16. Nice. When I heard that discussion on the podcast I was just beaming with delight. I mean, just making a show of deleting it for nothing wouldn't have the same oomph as a charity drive would be.
  17. DOTA 2

I used general pings to notify people of things like Roshan grabs, or placement of enemies (like if I see one sneak into a jungle), or if a gank is happening. I feel that all of these events qualify for pinging. But I don't go crazy with pings. The only time I multi-ping is if I'm doing a quick notification of route the enemy is walking or something. Which I realize I can use the draw tool for now.
  18. DOTA 2

Yeah. You guys are seeing the most docile form of my actual reaction on this issue. I went bananas last night.
  19. DOTA 2

I wish matchmaking was better fixed and enforced with regard to language. Because I'm tired of getting dumped with Spanish people who mark English but don't have a clue what I'm saying.
  20. Petitioning now that Danielle be the sixth(?) thumb officially.
  21. DOTA 2

I actually only started running into a ton of jerks in the game when I set it to matchmake from the USA only. When I mm'd globally it was a way better environment. Also a funny observation: When I mm'd globally most people spoke English. When I set it to USA only, there's frequently eastern languages and every round there's at least two Spanish speaking people. Which would be fine if I knew those languages. But y'know. Makes communication for team efforts hard.
  22. DOTA 2

An example of the behavior I hate in this game: We're losing the match. As the buildings around the ancient crumble down we call the gg to be good sports and step aside to let the match get ended... Then the enemy team surrounds our spawn point. Because they want those cool-guy points for ganking us over and over I guess. When a gg is called, that seems very unsportsman-like. The only time I see that being acceptable is if the match could spin on a dime unless you keep the enemy pinned back absolutely and brutally (which is not a frequent situation). Even with one guy disconnected we just busted out of our spawn point hard and destroyed the entire enemy team. It was poetic.
  23. Don't you mean YouTube?
  24. Hot on the heels of no-Kinect XB1 by the way is the NPD sales data. XB1 sales dropped 50% over the last month. I wonder if the no-Kinect option will help uplift that. Titanfall continues to sell very well though.
  25. I just started listening to the episode with my morning bowl of cereal. I hear about the chart when it's first mentioned, Google it, and have the same reaction as Jake apparently at the same time (while listening). WHAT IS THIS.
