ThunderPeel2001 Posted October 13, 2008 I've er... only just found this. It was launched something like 4 months ago.... http://socialclub.rockstargames.com/ Apparently it's a place where you can see all your GTA4 stats (and Midnight Club: LA when that gets released) and see how you're doing compared to the rest of the "Club"... Except it doesn't seem to be linking to my XBL account? Anyone a member? Anyone had any troubles linking?
toblix Posted October 13, 2008 I'm a member, and it linked up to my account no problem. It has some additional "achievements" based on just racking up huge numbers on stats like distance walked and number of times wasted.

I signed up when it first went up (before GTA4 was released) and it took a little bit of time for it to sync up my accounts--that may still be the case. Wrestlevania Posted October 14, 2008 I got a beta invite back in April and joined immediately... but I still don't knnow what the Social Club is actually for.
toblix Posted October 14, 2008 I just realised it lets both Xbox and PS players compete for the same achievements.
Wrestlevania Posted October 14, 2008 That's nifty in itself, but how do you link to your friends to compare achievements in the Social Club? Looks like you can't. It'd be much more meaningful - not to mention actually useful - if you could create a group and then add people to it, regardless of their chosen platform. Cigol Posted October 14, 2008 I never really understood it either - all the stats are in the game itself, are they not - but if I remember rightly it's main use is actually for the tagging of in-game music. It stores your tagged results on the site and lets you buy it from Amazon directly, something like that anyway, I never tried it personally.
toblix Posted October 14, 2008 For those that aren't in the club, there are (from memory) these sections: 100% club - only available to those with 100% completion Physical challenges - achievements based on how far you've traveled in various modes and how many times you've died, got arrested, etc. There's a map that shows activity by sector in the city, weapon stats, etc. There's a running total / leader bord of total earned money A story section for when you've completed the game
ThunderPeel2001 Posted October 14, 2008 (edited) Yeah, it all worked in the end... but there doesn't seem to be a way of comparing things with your XBL friends... what's the point of that? There's another club that Toblix hasn't mentioned: The Millionaires Club, for those that have earned (including what you've spent) a million dollars in the game. It's so amazingly underwhelming I almost find it depressing... especially considering this is RockStar. Even Guitar Hero III's online stats were better. Weird. Wrestlevania Posted October 14, 2008 I reckon Rockstar shouldn't have bothered with a dedicated site--the Social Club needed to been an app for the major social networks for it to really work I think. Just my £0.02-worth.
