Aussie Ben Posted June 21, 2005 After peeking at this thread here, my curiosity was piqued. I was pretty sure I remembered some stuff that I never saw in the final game (as is the case with all games, but anyway). So, here's stuff I was able to deduce. Might be spoilers, might not - I'll put 'em in spoiler tags anyway: - Originally 16 minds to explore - Lili was originally the mind obsessed with meat and bunnies, as her father was a butcher. - One mind was a woman who was terrified of everything. - Originally 16 merit badges to earn. Dropped mental powers included Mental Basket Weaving, Hackey-Sackery (the ability to make others play hackey-sack), Astral Projection. - Raz could use his thought bubble as a land mine. - Edgar used to have vocal spasms that you'd hear travel through his brain and out his mouth, and was convinced that a rampaging bull would be his ultimate demise. - That old "in order to cross a pit of thorns, Raz must first set fire to a rock, and then move it via telekinesis to burn the thorns out of the way" puzzle never turned up. - Boyd's mind originally had a bomb in it that was represented as a person. He was waiting for the "password" to trigger off the bomb. Although, this seems to have evolved into Milkman Boyd. - The Lungfish would have been used as a recurring boss for multiple kids, as so many of them had heard about the Lungfish story at camp. I'd bet Loboto's mind was one of those that was dropped, which is a shame, because I reckon it would have been fascinating to poke around in. I'd also like to take a look inside Dogen's head, just to see what on earth is going on in there. So there you go. The final product is still stellar, but I always find it fun to see what got dropped and rearranged. I'd be really interested to hear what the Double Fine guys had to say about stuff that got dropped or stuff that they would have liked to have included for whatever reason. Udvarnoky Posted June 21, 2005 Ever since I first read this ancient interview with Richard Horvitz I would have expected the Coach's "problem" to have been similar to what Edgar's is in the final game. Perhaps ideas were shifted from the Coach's mind to Edgar's, or Horvitz was simply mistaken. Interesting either way, I think. I think if you track down some of those interviews and coverage from the 2002-2003 area you'll find some interesting stuff.
Aussie Ben Posted June 21, 2005 Yeah, I found those pieces of information from IGN, GameSpy and Adventure Gamer previews on Tim Fandango.
