I feel like it's missing the point to ask whether all of Inception was a dream, because , which was, for me, the only emotional moment that really hit. Or, I don't think the movie's so much interested in philosophical questions of reality as it is in psychological problems of denial and willful ignorance. I also just don't think Nolan's really interested in those kind of head games--he likes complicated plots, obviously, but they're usually very meticulous and definite rather than being ambiguous Is he or isn't he? sort of things. YMMV obv.
  2. The Witcher

Given the clicheness, I actually appreciated that they just dropped it after the beginning of the game, since it was clearly just a device to start you as a weakling and have everyone explain to you who they were. I'm don't think it was the best strategy, certainly (either the PC is a world-renowned badass or he's not please), but after I groaned in the introduction I pretty much forgot about it (since the game seemed to too).
  3. I don't, and actually don't care about Star Wars at all (except for KOTOR II, which I will evangelize endlessly), but I play in a Star Wars Saga tabletop RPG game and tend to inadvertently gather an encyclopedic knowledge of settings I play in even when I don't care. It's weird. My apologies! And now back to your show.
  4. I find this funny because there actually are Jedi Yetis. (I realize how sad it is that I know this.)

Fuck yes! I saw the first episode a long time ago, but it was the only one officially online at the time. This show is extremely lovely.

    Mad Men Season 4
  7. Haha, he's the Count of Saint Germain for a modern era, basically.

Inception was really great, very tight. I actually like that the rules are very clearly delineated. For characters obsessed with always being in control, in a situation in which loss of control means you don't even know if your world is real, it feels right that they reassure themselves they are in control by verbally defining their world over and over, as if that grants them power over it.

    Best
  11. Mass Effect 2

You mean Adrenaline Rush? I haven't really played a soldier.
  12. Max Ides & Big Ben was great. I miss J Allard a lot too. He always seemed ridiculous but not an asshole or anything, so I enjoyed him. At least he went out with a bang, I suppose.
  13. I thought I was seeing things when I randomly reloaded the site and saw a picture of the Pope. I am thankful my eyes did not deceive me. Listening now!

William Gibson is great. He has a very precise style, but it is very modern (not in the literary sense), so it might well fit a forum. (Pattern Recognition actually has numerous forum messages in its text, too.) David Foster Wallace is a generally controversial postmodernist. I had an English professor who agreed that "Infinite Jest" referred to a reader actually reading the giant tome and realizing at the end that they weren't really going to get anything out of it. There are those who love him, and those who think he was an arrogant asshole. *shrug* I got Arthur C. Clarke on everyday stuff and Lovecraft on essays. Not sure what that says. I too am curious as to how it makes its determination.

Oh man, that video is terrible indeed. It's like they videotaped a guy trying to show his friends the latest game in a new series they all love while he was still playing at the same time. The actual content of the game seems cool, I suppose, though I don't really know anything about WoW.

I played infiltrator my first time through and honestly I think it's the easiest class to play. You can definitely use your sniper rifle all or most of the time; as mentioned, the most difficult thing about it is actually the extremely limited amount of ammo (e.g. with the Space Barret, you get about 12 shots). The biggest change--which isn't really discussed anywhere unfortunately, in favor of the "infiltrators can cloak now!"--is that when you zoom in with a sniper rifle as an infiltrator you get a few seconds of bullettime (based on the level of your class skill), which allows you to hide in cover, pop out for a few moments of real time, zoom in, headshot, drop back to cover, all while letting your squad take fire. Because of this if you use cover intelligently you almost never have to worry about actually getting shot (except when you have to run out to pick up more ammo). You don't need any other firepower, either--once you get the Space Barret (the second upgrade to your sniper rifle, the first is a mostly useless "quick fire" gun I never used) you can one-shot most enemies with ease. Even before that the starting sniper rifle is pretty powerful. And you still have the cloak if you really get in trouble. In summary: ME2 infiltrators are awesome.
