  1. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I wouldn't want to be in the shoes of whoever's working out how the controls will work.
  2. I'm totally baffled by the second level.
  3. It's pretty much Dungeon Master isn't it? Installing now!
  4. YOUR WOLD!

Did they steal this from Lizardo Online, the David Icke MMO?
  5. It looks like something I might try. Is it possible to turn off the inane combat chatter? It's inconcievable to me how anyone can tolerate that, let alone decide to put it in the game. Is it required by the japanese government to from games?
  6. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

As anticipated for a little while, there will be a PC version: http://gamingbolt.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/dark-souls-1.jpg It would be rather nice and quite a big deal if it's a good adaptation and does well.
  7. Tales of Graces f

I played Tales of Symphonia, the battle system was a lot of fun. Everything else was terrible. The plot was laugh out load terrible, and then I heard people saying that it was lifted directly from FF10!
  8. Shadowrun Kickstarter

I can't justify the real 'reward' categories so I tend to go for the basic ones (I just want the thing itself). This is usually fine but in a couple of cases I've regretted backing at all which has made me much more cautious. I'll probably wait until the last few days from now on to see if I'm actually needed. I love the sound of Shadowrun Returns but I expect it will do fine without me. I wonder if a lot of others are on the same boat and what effect that might have. For example, I backed Venus Patrol at the lowest level which went way over and seems to have been more about the rewards, the actual website has hardly been mentioned. I just get emails about all the cool shit I didn't pay for because I just wanted the guy to be able to do his blog which he as yet has nothing to show for. Or the Thief and the Cobbler documentary which nearly two years later appears destined for independent film festival hell.
  9. Shadowrun Kickstarter

It a pretty fantastic game actually, with the most suicidal marketing in living memory. -It had nothing almost nothing to do with Shadowrun, which pissed off Shadowrun fans. -They made a HUGE deal about cross platform which just stirred up juvenile console vs PC snobbery. -Along with Halo 2 PC it was Vista/DX10 exclusive for no reason other than to help sell Vista, when everyone hated Vista. I played heaps of it the year it came out and last I looked you can still find games nearly 5 years on. I've not really been into any other competetive games since. It was a terrible shame what happened to that game and that studio. You don't get many multiplayer games with that level of refinement and it was one of the last FPSs without layers of gratuitous persistence and unlocking nonsense.
  10. Your first gaming device...

I don't think we had any actual games until my Dad got a Windows 95 machine with mountains of shareware CDs including some Apogee demos. So imagine the most generic looking beige 1995 'multimedia' PC possible. (I'm 23.)
  11. Looking forward to this. Trying to find a booker prize freak to lend me the book. I'm glad it's a shorter one, I have a horrible backlog of half finished books after some months of being totally off reading as a result of my dissertation.
  12. Rovio buys Futuremark Game Studio

They'd sooner move into the mining sector.
  13. Armored Core V

Thinking of getting this, if I get it on 360 will I be able to possibly play with you from across the pond well enough? I've not played console games properly (competetively) online for a few years now, I can't really remember how sensitive it all is. It's a long time since I braved the northern stoners and french racists of XBL. I played Dark Souls on PS3 because I couldn't be bothered to buy an XBL subscription. Also I'm a bit drunk having just finished my dissertation and had some gin and some Tribes. Sorry.
  14. PC graphics card update help

You need the correct type of RAM or it simply won't fit in the slot (especially not laptop ram!). There are also different speeds to choose from, but I'm way out of date on all this stuff having not upgraded in an awfully long time.
  15. The City on RPS

Nice article and well timed, since I just finished Thief 1 & 2 for the first time after they came out on GOG. I'd played around with Thief 1 a little bit a long time ago but they've always been a glaring gap for whatever reason and I didn't get around to them properly until now. They've not aged too badly once you apply some graphical upgrades and fix the insane 1998 keybinds. The way the levels are constructed is really wonderful, especially the psychedelic parts in the first game. The reshuffled contributors have definitely breathed some new life into RPS, I was getting a bit weary of it not so long ago. I reread Butchering Pathologic recently as well and it's still great.
  16. Steel Batallion: Heavy Armor for Kinect

3D Dot Game Heroes wasn't really a From game as I understand it, they were the Japanese publisher. It was developed by Silicon Studio who mostly make middleware (check out their utterly sterile website: http://www.siliconstudio.co.jp/english/index.html). http://www.mobygames.com/game/ps3/3d-dot-game-heroes/credits
  17. GDC 2012

Indeed. Referencing articles there for people who won't have a clue is a little painful.
  18. idlethumbs.net

    This pleases me greatly.
  19. Fund Tim Schafer's next game YOURSELF!

God I don't even much care for adventure games but this makes me so happy. Amazon UK worked for me too.
  20. Id's Rage

  21. Wizaaaaaards!!

    I'm the wizard, no remorse.
  22. I enjoyed Spaff's account of his Wii launch day 'expedition'. It always amused me how US-oriented internet hype at video game launches contrasts so hugely with the generally very muted reality in the UK.
  23. Resident Evil 5

Off, you're right. Not as bad as London 2012 (Lisa Simpson fellating a dwarf).
  24. Goty.cx 2011

Dark Souls was my goty by far. Before Demon's Souls I'd always wanted to really get into a dungeon crawler, but even the really popular ones failed to compel and intrigue me enough to get very far. Demon's and Dark Souls are like how Diablo 1 exists in my idealised memory of it, with some of the genuine risk/vulnerability thrills you get from something like Darkfall on top. I also played an awful lot of Ace of Spades alpha, and Deus Ex 3 was alright.
