Fucking SpyParty, man. Been waiting for that "beta" since JUNE. I want to play SpyParty.

Are there any good asynchronous multiplayer games that you guys know of on iOS other than the "with Friends" set?

Is it weird that I'm really impressed by that?

Wow, his arms in the inventory screen are just... entirely inhuman. Where the fuck are his elbows? It looks like his forearms grow directly out of his biceps.

That's interesting, I hadn't really thought about the fighting being something that had changed in Arkham City. What was it that made you find it improved? Is it the introduction of more gadgets into it? Those are somewhat entertaining, though I'm not sure I have them all yet and frequently forget to use them if I'm finding a fight difficult.

Since we're getting all medical up in this bitch, does anyone have any advice for RSI or whatever we're calling it at the moment? The thing where you foolishly use computers too much and the tendons in your wrists and forearms end up hurting. This is the first time in my life I've really experienced it, and I'm kind of at a loss. I'm trying to take more breaks from anything requiring dexterous hand movements, and I'm sort of loosely rotating and stretching my wrists and elbows every now and then, but otherwise I'm not sure what to do. I've been vaguely trying to make sure my arms are at sensible angles while using the computer, but since it's chronic rather than acute pain it's difficult to tell what is actually best. I actually went to the doctor today, but he mostly told me to do the stuff I was already doing and see how it goes. One thing he did suggest was an ibuprofen gel, so I'm going to start using a little of that in the hopes that it'll at least prevent it from getting worse. I figure it's not a total long shot that some of you have experienced this before, though, so any advice would be appreciated.

I can't believe that it's only now that I've realised how great a range of fat jokes there are surrounding the title Mass Effect.

Yeah, breast is basically synonymous with "chest" when not talking specifically about boobs. You'll probably notice it gets used a lot in older literature in that way, heart beating in his breast, anger roiling within his breast, etc. It just gets used that way a lot less these days, with the exception of anatomical holdovers such as the breastbone.

Somewhat related, I don't suppose anyone knows where I could get a month of XBL Gold cheaply? Or even just if there's a place to get those 24/48 hour XBL codes?

Yeah, I've already modded Skyrim pretty extensively myself but you do have to be really careful about checking whether replacement textures and effects genuinely look better to you. There have been numerous things in the game I'd quite like to improve (such as furniture and interior walls) but all the mods I've seen to do so have taken the styles of the textures in totally different directions. I don't want Skyrim to look different, I think Bethesda has a good eye for holistic art styles, I just want it to be a better version of what it already is. Some texture mods accomplish that, many don't.

Yeah, it is kind of troubling, but it also not entirely inaccurately reflects the worries of women of that age. Margaret Atwood's anecdotally received responses that men are afraid women will laugh at them and women are afraid men will kill them does kind of hold up at times. That said, maybe the more worrisome thing here is that every person of even slightly questionable ethics in this kind of film is apparently a rapist. Or at least doesn't mind giving the impression of being such.

I keep hearing that Dead Space 2 is great, but I haven't finished the first game and don't feel much desire to do so. Would it be silly to play the second without finishing the first? Additionally, is it really enough better than the first that I would give a crap? Recommendations appreciated.

I suppose it's theoretically possible it has nothing to do with the success of that game with the similar name. If so; snappy title, guys!

Interesting choice to portray Shepherd as crosseyed.

I completely forgot that it was New Year's Eve until this afternoon, and now I'm not sure if I can actually be bothered arranging anything with anyone. I'm not really in the mood to just go to bars all night, and I can't think of anyone that would be doing anything substantially different to that.

Continuing my look at Ryan Gosling: The Man, the Myth, the Icon, I watched the recommended Blue Valentine. I concur with its recommendation, and it was definitely an intriguing and complex film. To see characters with such depth at two different points in their lives, and how their relationship differed between the two, was genuinely interesting. I also think I understand a little bit more of the praise Gosling has been receiving now. It was absolutely a different role to the ones he played in Drive and the Ides of March, so I can now see that he has some range. It's also fascinating to watch these three films close to each other because of how his characters portray the physical, intellectual and emotional reactions to their attendant crises respectively. Also, damn, I just looked at Ryan Gosling's IMDB page. That guy is working recently.

I agree, Rodi, but as I thought about it on the way home I can't see it having been done any other way.

Really? I thought it was mostly more of the same, with a little of the shine off the apple simply due to its not being novel anymore. Moriarty was played well, but apart from that the only thing that I really enjoyed beyond a general level of entertainment was Stephen Fry (and yes, I mean that scene as well).

GiantBomb is in the midst of its GOTY.cx picks, and Brad Shoemaker has done all of his picks in the style of a wizard. me9NZjqgXTE Additionally, the Day 2 general recap video has more wizard FMV stuff, and the last message is just "YOU'RE A WIZARD!" Since Brad has made some Idle Thumbs references in the past, including quietly saying "wizard" when Thumbs were mentioned, this might be a deliberate joke. _5ZS1_b9OjE

While my friend and I were playing through Dark Souls we did a lot of minor stuff to enhance our own senses of our characters. For a while we were both wearing the same knight armour and deliberately hired ourselves out to other people wearing it and being "knight bros". We also both joined the Warriors of Sunlight and would make sure to always use the Praise the Sun greeting for other Warriors of Sunlight and always bow to the host or other phantoms when summoned to help. Additionally, now and then we would return to Firelink Shrine and just sit down at the bonfire in our individual worlds, allowing our weary knights a well-earned respite. In Assassin's Creed I never went too far with it as the characters themselves are fairly defined, but I certainly always tried to keep to my idea of what they would do. As a result I always tried to be as stealthy and nonchalant as possible, silent assassinations always being preferred and so on. In Brotherhood I started using the guild assassins a lot more because it's so smooth and is in-keeping with Ezio's new status. I suppose these are largely just roleplaying the characters rather than actually creating new fiction for the world... I'll keep giving that some thought.

Somewhere between 100-300 years after KOTOR I think. I actually have a character on Taris right now and an NPC mentioned when the bombardment happened exactly but I can't bring it to mind. The planet is fairly screwed up by the bombardment, and there are still rakghouls around (the cure you found in KOTOR didn't have time to be distributed before the bombardment). You also go through the wreck of the Endar Spire, at least as a Republic character, which is the ship you begin KOTOR on.

It is certainly possible to play it with a keyboard, but when you go into the game configuration with a keyboard it basically shows you mapping keys to a gamepad diagram. So how enjoyable it is to play with a keyboard I have no idea.

Honestly not sure. It does include the best things about both the 2D and 3D generations of Sonic games, but if you never played Sonic to begin with I don't know if it will hold up enough as a game. I'm not even saying that as a leaning towards it won't sort of statement, I genuinely have no idea. Yes.

Oh yeah, I forgot to say I'm on the Nightmare Lands EU server (because it's the one with the PC Gamer guild) if anyone is planning to play on the EU side. I'd give my character names but for some unknown reason you can only add as a friend someone who is online at the time. So just PM me if you end up on that server yourself.
