Nah there's no point of no return. Obviously at certain points you're locked into story missions for a bit, but once you've finished the game, you just go back into the open world.

PiratePoo and I are probably going to be doing some Far Cry 3 coop in an hour or two if anyone else is interested. Easiest way to contact us is probably on Steam.

The Idle Thumbs Lords Management Consortium - Dota 2, LoL, other Lords Managers unite
Gwardinen replied to Sean's topic in Multiplayer Networking
Shit, really? That was my whole reason for being interested in the game! That and liking Sins of a Solar Empire, anyway. -
Agreed on both points. Going into menus to make stuff I needed felt weird both because of how good and complete the first-person perspective was otherwise, and also because the UI for that shit is kind of terrible on PC. Since the PC is the machine that birthed GUI menus, you'd think it wouldn't be too difficult to make ones that feel snappy, responsive and intuitive on it. Yet, no. Dodgy console interface porting, way too many layers and generally just making me lose my in-game momentum. The fact that there isn't a hotkey to create health syringes at the very least is criminal. Hell, they sometimes pop up a dialog box telling you when you have the necessary ingredients for an item - rather than just having ESC go to that item in a menu (which is helpful, admittedly, because of the aforementioned shittiness of the menus), why not also give me a key prompt for just making the damn thing? The body thing is just strange and I presumed it was because there wasn't an obviously elegant way to not have it conflict with looting bodies on button-limited console controllers. I understand that, but it is bizarre in a game that otherwise promotes so much freedom. Yeah I'd probably be interested in at least seeing what the multiplayer is like, if you're on PC too. Is it four player coop? There must be a couple other Thumbs who want to do dumb shit on an island.

I am seriously considering pulling my old Linux box out of retirement and trying to install Windows 98 on it to see whether that's legit.

Well, the one serious long-term environmental problem with nuclear energy is that we have no way to properly dispose of its waste. But other than that, yeah, it's significantly cleaner than fossil fuels. From an engineering perspective I am sometimes troubled by the fact that we start literal chain reactions that we can't really stop in any safe way in order to draw from their energy, though. It's kind of like hitching a ride down a mountain on a rolling boulder - sure, it works, but there aren't any brakes.

Damn. I really don't know if this could ever live up to my expectations at this point. I'm also super wary of it for the same reason Squid Division is - TA has two other projects on the go, is now really the time to be trying to do this? All of that said, if the development team pulls this off... it's literally a dream come true.

Idle Thumbs 84: Nineties Cockpit Freakout
Gwardinen replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
He was referring to the "which one of us is the machine" thing! Not everything is about masturbation!* *Most things are about masturbation. -
Did she say feral? I thought they said zealous or something like that? For whatever reason I was inferring throughout the game that these Covenant were effectively fundamentalists who didn't give a crap about the progressive peace effort.

Does this link work for you? Edit: Damn you, Badfinger! One day, when you least expect it, I will ninja you so hard.

The Hobbit is going to be three films?! I had already heard it was going to be two and had kind of gone "urgh" - but three? God, I don't know that I want to watch another three Middle-earth films.
-
Does that actually work? I'm sure I looted some dudes I'd arrowed and didn't get my arrows back.

It really does seem like Square Enix's marketing department is a horror show. Given all the things we've been talking about regarding Hitman's marketing as well, I have to wonder what the hell is going on there. I'm glad Tomb Raider seems to be shaping up as a potentially worthwhile game in its own right, as I think the idea of a Tomb Raider game with more character development could be appealing to me.

Yep! Feel exactly the same. Have run up to a window and bunny hopped up and down a bit several times. Especially frustrating when I'm trying to flee from newly alerted enemies.

I'd still quite like a code for the Company of Heroes set if anyone has one. Since I've been reminded of it now, I do have FOUR Dota 2 invites at this point and I'm happy to give them away. I realise most of the people here probably have it or don't want it by this stage, but even if you know someone who might want it I could give at least two of them just to people known to Thumbs. It's a fun* game, guys! *With a given definition of fun.
-
If there are this many spare keys going I wouldn't mind a set, as I've been wanting to try the Company of Heroes multiplayer. On an unrelated note, does anyone feel like trying out the Company of Heroes multiplayer?

What misinformation? I didn't really notice that, though admittedly I listened to this week's Bombcast while doing other things. If you're referring to the problem Sno is referring to, that isn't misinformation and has been confirmed to be the case. Additionally, Nintendo online accounts themselves have been confirmed to be locked to the console they're created on.

I have this issue too, also on Chrome. I have noticed it on another site that uses the same forum software, so it is absolutely an issue with IP Board and not this site in particular.

I suggest spoilering that, JonCole, that particular plot twist really surprised me and I'd hate to see it ruined for others.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

Ha! Made me laugh out loud. Thanks. -
Haha, we have a nice mix coming on here! Sadly I couldn't find a version of Oysterband's When I'm Up I Can't Get Down that I like - there are three album versions on Grooveshark but the one that actually does it for me is that doesn't appear to be anywhere but YouTube. Here are some that I'd like to add that do seem to be on Grooveshark: AFI - Prelude 12-21 Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear the Reaper Cage the Elephant - Ain't No Rest for the Wicked (bonus points for it being on a game soundtrack) Deep Blue Something - Breakfast at Tiffany's Elvis Costello - (I Don't Want To Go To) Chelsea Gogol Bordello - Through the Roof 'n' Underground The Hives - Two Timing Touch and Broken Bones Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son Kanye West - Power (yeah I know, but come on it was the soundtrack to E3!) Len - Steal My Sunshine Lonely Island & Michael Bolton - Jack Sparrow Men at Work - Down Under The Offspring - Why Don't You Get a Job? Peter Sellers & Sophia Loren - Bangers and Mash (I really recommend Thumbs listen to this as I want to know if everyone finds it as funny and great as I do) Santa Esmarelda - Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Scatman John - Scatman (Ski-Ba-Bop-Ba-Dop-Bop)

Good luck, man. I can understand why you'd be nervous beforehand, but afterwards is going to be awesome. Not so much for the health benefits (though sure, that too), but because then you will officially be a cyborg. Part man, part machine. You might want to check whether you suddenly gain the ability to understand machine code.

I voted for fully 14 of the games... which I guess isn't the most efficient strategy for making sure any given one gets picked, but I really liked a lot of the ideas!

Or for you Dota 2 players. I know it says it's a "deny" voice clip, and it may well play during a denial, but I swear I hear him say it when he kills people too - particularly with Culling Blade - and it's hilarious to me every time.
