That Final Destination 2 scene is pretty incredible, in a bizarre, convoluted sort of way. I think I remember seeing other clips from that film and being amused too.

Can we get these threads merged? I want those pictures preserved. Also, does the last cat's name ever result in you shouting out of your door, "Girlfriend! Come here, girlfriend! Where are you, girlfriend?"?

Sure, and it doesn't really make any sense for her to be essentially wearing the American flag at all times either. These are holdovers from the initial creation of the character, like Superman having a huge "S" on his chest that they try to handwave as happening to be the Kryptonian symbol for his House as well.

Sure. Apart from the giant WRIST BLADES. Holy crap. (Actually I kind of like that because they've been focussing much more on Wonder Woman being a warrior the last few years.)

I remember watching that. I recommend it because it's well made and about something that's becoming more and more important... but it's definitely kind of rough.

Re-reading my post, it is ambiguous! I was talking about Arrested Development. I gave up on it in its last season because it just wasn't clicking with me anymore.

Wizard Jam - Idle Thumbs Game Jam Interest Gauge / Chit Chat corner
Gwardinen replied to Dinosaursssssss's topic in Idle Banter
I am kinda into this idea. I have general knowledge about programming but no specific knowledge of any of these current engines, which is actually enticing me more - is it possible to go from rusty beginner to some semblance of competence with a modern game engine in two weeks? I would definitely want to work in a group since I'm at the less up to speed end of the scale - I have some experience with programming, scripting, writing, that kind of thing but would need help with engine specifics for sure and have absolutely no artistic/musical talent. -
Wouldn't be so sure. Someone has to come up with their operating guidelines.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
Gwardinen replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
I was honestly worried for quite a lot of that video. When he said "this is why I need a spotter" I was like yeah this seems pretty dangerous alone. -
I actually felt a similar way about the last season of Arrested Development as some of you appear to about Parks & Rec's. I watched a few episodes of it and really felt like all the magic had gone out of the show. I didn't even end up finishing it, despite having watched and enjoyed the entire rest of the series. I'm sort of posting this in the hopes that someone actually has the opposite opinion, and I'll be persuaded to pick it back up, if only for the resolution.

Yup, God of War in season two and Killzone in the very first episode of the show - presumably to establish gaming as part of his character.
-
Actually, he plays both God of War Ascension and Killzone 3.

Does anyone else have access to this and fancy playing it? It's been literal years since I did and some of the levels and characters are all fancy now and I'd quite like to get back into it. I never got particularly far to begin with, so you don't have to be James Bond (actually James Bond would be terrible at this).

I moved to an NA server a while back so I should be able to get in on this action. I am Gwardinen.8693 - are individual servers in a region not a thing anymore?

Oh by the by, I often use the word "numpty" and encourage everyone else to do so. I've yet to find someone take offence at it, and it's fun to say.
-
That list is interesting, because there are words on it that no one around here would think of saying, but there are also words that in this region are considered very innocent and don't carry those connotations at all. As an example, the word daft here is closer to "silly" than "retarded". My dad would call me daft when I'd do something odd as a kid, or put something away in the wrong place. I first encountered the very different connotations to the word when I called a Canadian friend of mine daft a few years ago and she was taken aback by it. Edit: Also, isn't deaf-mute referring to someone who is not only deaf but also unable to produce speech, rather than being only a variant on deaf?

Yeah, I've sort of bounced off GW2 several times. If there was an active group I could join I'd be much more likely to give it an honest shot.

You have a weird reaction to inappropriate workplace language.

I'm going to try to keep things concise, but apologies in advance if this turns into a slightly longer post. As some of you from IRC already know, I'm going to go back to university. I never actually finished uni the first time, having started a distance degree with an American university that I eventually grew disenchanted with and dropped. It was a colossal waste of money and time (partly my fault, partly the course), and honestly my life has been somewhat adrift ever since. Obviously there have been ups as well as downs, but overall I haven't really had a true plan or purpose for years. In the last few weeks, however, I think I might have found myself a purpose again. I'm kind of surprised by it myself, but it turns out that I really want to do something with my life after all. Beyond that, I want to do something worthwhile, something to help people, and I think that direction is going to be medical. At the moment I'm not totally sure whether I'm going to try to do a degree in Radiography or in Medicine, but either way there is a step that must come first. You see in the UK we have an intermediary step between high school and university, which is called college. At college you take A levels, and these are the qualifications that mostly determine which courses and universities you can get into. Unfortunately I both took the wrong A levels (no natural sciences) and did poorly in them - this post isn't going to be long enough to explain my fucked teenage years, but take it as read that I can't simply apply to one of these courses at this time. For the last couple of weeks, therefore, I've been contacting university admissions departments and asking what kind of qualifications would lead to me being able to actually apply to such a course. The answer would seem to be some combination of retaking qualifications I already have and doing what's called an Access to Higher Education diploma. This is something you can do in the UK at a sub-university level (for example a college as described before) to prove academic potential for an undergraduate degree. I'm not quite finished talking to universities, but nevertheless I've provisionally applied for such a course at a local college to at least get the ball rolling. Obviously I'm pretty excited about all of this, and pretty scared/worried too. There are some loans available for this kind of situation, but financially it's still probably going to be a nightmare. I don't really know what I'm going to do in terms of living situation, at least until I can make use of university accommodation. Most of all, the education system itself is not exactly welcoming to mature students and at least half of the universities I've spoken to aren't particularly interested in people trying to prove themselves with diplomas and such after college, or want specific diplomas from specific colleges in their area and ignore all others. It is definitely going to be an uphill battle. Nevertheless, having a sense of purpose again and an idea about what I want to do with my life after so long drifting is something I think I desperately needed. As I said in IRC, I'm going to try to ride this mental momentum for as long as I possibly can.

I don't quite have that for you, but if you're also interested in China there's a fantastic Chinese TV series called Three Kingdoms that's absolutely worth watching if you're into in historical far east political/military machinations and don't mind subtitles. There are a few shows that have similar names and are about the same time, but the one you're looking for . Honestly, I also don't know of a better way to get hold of it than YouTube, because as far as I'm aware it was never released outside of China and the subtitling is entirely fan driven.

Had a pretty similar experience. I was technically self-employed for about a year, and for at least four years afterwards the government kept sending me demands for self-employed National Insurance contributions.

Huh, five days before the launch. I wonder whether it'll work. Is it a Steamworks game?

I'm already doing a bit of multiplayer with some friends but I'm happy to do more. I use the Hunting Horn because I love rockin' out. My friend code is 0920-2627-9307, if you add me send me a PM with yours so that I can add you back. If you added me in the past I may not have you anymore because my 3DS glitched out and I had to get a new SD card and stuff.

I just realised I don't remember anything about Batman Begins.
