Idle Thumbs 22: Put On the Top Ghost
Thompson replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Carl is watching the ad before the kid shows up. That is as specific as I can be both because of my memory and because of possible spoilers. -
Grammar: It will fuck you up.

I think John Smith is, ironically, probably a pretty rare name.
-
The only place on the internet that rivals YouTube is the Blizzard forums in terms of sheer douchebaggery, hopefully using real names will have some slight effect on how horrible people are on the Blizzard forums.

Not a Wizard but also a pretty weird Facebook ad. Not many Mafia members have pink hair but they totally have a gun so you know they have to be a gang member, right?

It was a lovely pair of pants too. What a shame.

Rape through the pants in 3... 2... 1...

Sounds like a good psychological horror game to me, i'm going to man up and play with the sound on this time. Bioshock has taught me to enjoy being scared and to not shortchange my own gameplay experience. Audio plays a much more important part than I think most people give it credit for, even if a game looks eye-meltingly good if it sounds like crap people will hate it. Far Cry 2 is an example of game that I think sounds pretty damn good, I love hearing my expended shells hitting the ground or metal while i'm firing a weapon. I have no regrets about buying it except for the fact that i'll have to spend an eternity downloading it.

From the people who brought you Auto-Tune the News. There aren't enough thumbs in the world to give this video it's correct rating.

Would you recommend Gay Tony? I've finished GTA4 several times and i've never been able to stop myself from just wandering around the city taking subways and generally wasting time, anyway, i'm apprehensive about buying EFLC in case it ruins my memories or 4. Steam had it on sale for a while and I totally missed it, maybe i'll get it for the PS3...

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN? Breaks down. That was something incredible.

The only real problem I had was that one guard who was standing in front of a guard rail that was also on a level above a flowerbed so you have to sort half walk up, half animate yourself up onto the flowerbed to grab the guy without getting his attention. I did have 2 good experiences with that level though. The first one is more of a discovery than anything but I was going to jump the guy who is standing in front of the fountain and I accidentally jumped into the water and was like ok, that's cool. So I shuffled around, grabbed the guy over the side of the fountain and drowned him. The other is just a crazy fight movie scenario, I took out the fountain guy and ran over the left dodging the flashlight guard's LOS and silently climbed the staircase. I dart across the small courtyard and snap a talking guard's neck, the guy he is talking to doesn't seem to mind. I immediately turn and sprint at full pace down a staircase and take advantage of game physics to launch myself off the staircase and take out the other guard with a flying kick to the face.

I'm going to state several simple facts and then ask you to conclude whether I should buy this game: I'm not huge on horror games because, surprise surprise, they scare me. (I played Bioshock with the sound off and a funny podcast {Not Idle Thumbs} playing.) My computer meets the recommended specifications. I have a massive interest in the time travel feature thanks to Chris talking about it and making it seem awesome. I'm not looking for a long game because, believe it or not, I really don't feel like sitting down with some 20 hour long life melter. I don't really want to buy any more games (God damn you Steam!) unless it's a can't miss offer.

I have a PS3. I buy games for it that I want from stores or online. I watch movies on it. Done.

Maybe that stealth section wasn't done well, I fucking abhore any game that has a 'You've been spotted, you instantly lose and go back to where you started from. Also, did we mention that some of the guards have flashlights and can see you from anywhere on the map whilst the guards without flashlights are thicker than a plank of wood?' mechanic. Other than that though Uncharted 2 is an incredible game, the writing and acting is simply outstanding.

Signing myself up for the next one of these. I like to think of it as GDC for students.

Every Day I Have The Same Dream That game is pretty great.

I fucking love the trivia bit, that is INCREDIBLY awesome. I love that he managed to get those people to actually answer questions, it made me really happy. It was like a collaborative challenge and I get the feeling it was actually fun for those people too.

Nice work taking a quote out of context. (Not being bitchy, damn you non-expressive medium of text.) I certainly see that other researchers might feel slighted but can they honestly say that anything (Excluding the following: Anything that could kill everyone on Earth like meteors, things that kill more people than cancer per capita and things that would, if invented, discovered or solved, revolutionize the way humans exist within our universe.) is more important than cancer research? Most other things probably fall under one or more of the following three categories: Theoretical sciences. (I realize these have their uses but are not necessarily vital for the furthering of mankind.) Out of curiosity/for fun/pointless. For money. Of course I don't agree with making the general assumption that cancer is the single most important field of study for the betterment of mankind but I certainly do believe that it should be extremely highly funded and only superseded on a case by case basis.
