  1. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Australia is apparently a democratic light for the rest of you to follow. Get with the times other countries.
  2. Sony Shitshow

I must not read enough news, I didn't hear about those things. Can you link some news stories?
  3. The threat of Big Dog

This Dateline report on robotic warfare even ties it back to gaming, it's as if it were made for this thread. If the video is blocked in countries that aren't Australia i'll do some sneaky sneaky and get a copy up for you foreigners.
  4. anime

A famously terrible line. In fact, this is the only result that is related. PLvP3C3DRLI But seriously, DO A SECOND TAKE.
  5. Sony Shitshow

Identity theft isn't just about credit cards, it's about anything and everything you use your identity for.
  6. anime

Bah, dubs are the worst. The only anime i'll ever actually watch a dubbed version of will be P4A because i'm used to those American voice actors, presuming they get the same ones back like they did for the Japanese version. Sounds interesting, can I get a second opinion? As a total outsider to TTGL, it sounds like a good idea.
  7. Sony Shitshow

Here's how the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) reported on it yesterday: yv9H3yTQdmY My opinion: Companies tend not to report the full scale of cyber attacks, there may be no evidence that the credit card details were stolen, but that doesn't mean they weren't. Besides, credit card fraud is probably preferable to identity theft; you can cancel a credit card and the bank will (at least in Australia) soak up the cost of the fraudulent purchases, you can't cancel your identity.
  8. anime

I was joking, but the internet is bad for transmitting mirth. You have no idea how many times people have recommended TTGL, someday i'll have to watch it.
  9. anime

Say what you will: The anime in Anime.txt are anime that i've seen recommended but haven't gotten around to investigating yet. Anime.
  10. anime

It does have a really creepy name, but in reality it's not what it sounds like. Read this. Comedy ensues.
  11. My graphics card has kicked the proverbial

Spent about $AUD1100 getting this: GIGABYTE 560 TI SOC (SOC = Super Overclock) Intel Core i7 960 ASUS Rampage III Motherboard Corsair Vengeance 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Keeping the same hard drives, monitors, mouse (I got a new one recently anyway), keyboard, case and PSU which saves a load of money.
  12. anime

One episode left on Ore no Imōto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai, sadly.
  13. Well done! @Jake: You are one scary man. Basically, I ran to new land that wasn't on the map and found a half-built structure that shouldn't have existed. I entered it, turned around and suddenly Jake was standing behind me asking how I'd gotten there. I was scared.
  14. Yeah, that really is awesome. Who built it?
  15. Portal 2

I had the exact opposite problem where i'd be trying to solve a puzzle the old way and then stop and think "Oh wait, there's a gel here, I must have to use that." and 9/10 times i'd be right.
  16. Dreams!

I often go to sleep with a podcast playing and wake up like 4 podcasts later with it still playing, last night I was listening to a Giant Bombcast. Today I woke up and all I heard was Ryan Davis whispering "and this podcast was just a dream..." at the very end of the Portal 2 Spoiler Cast.
  17. Happy Birthday!

That combined with the robotic precision and quality of her movements makes that a supremely terrifying video.
  18. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

    So good.
  19. I fail to see how I broke the page, but I wish I could.
  20. Optimal placement is 26 (1 powered rail, 25 normal, repeat), that keeps the cart at max speed (8 meters per second = 8 blocks per second); next best is one every 32 which is 2% slower, then one every 36 which is an additional 8% slower. Obviously the cart needs to be at maximum speed to be kept at maximum speed by the 26, I haven't seen the figure on how many power tracks you need to hit max speed from a standing start but I always just use 6 for whatever reason. If you want to know if your cart is actually doing maximum speed just get the distance in meters (or blocks) between the two stations and divide it by 8, the result is how many seconds it should take. Thanks to detector track you could actually create something far closer to a functioning train station, as a cart comes down the track you could have it trigger torches on the platform so people know that someone is coming. Plus, since power rail can be controlled with switches and works both ways you could actually make a train that goes back and forth between stations. It would need a conductor, though.
  21. General Video Game Deals Thread

I see what you did there.
  22. (IGN.com)

How the hell does "It will blow you away" infiltrate everything IGN.com touches?
  23. Portal 2

Best bit of dialogue in the game:
  24. Portal 2

*Shrug* The music is amazing, the way they weave it into things they want you to do... man, genius. Best Valve game, yes. Best game so far this year? Pretty easily yes, in fact apart from maybe Battlefield 3 I don't see much unseating Portal 2 as the best game of 2011.
  25. Portal 2

We did some wild shit indeed. Good times.
