  1. I've built a bit of a farewell contraption, it'll only run once so it'll be something of an event. Don't know when we want to do it, but obviously it'll have to be soon. The machine is at x:842 z:-464 or here. Please don't mess with it.
  2. Thanks again tabacco! Great work on the village Draarthos, the slideshow was excellent too.

I find the best thing to do to cure a panic attack is to get out of your own head and just do something, anything. Go for a walk, talk to whoever is nearby, do your grocery shopping early, watch a movie, call a friend. Anything that will stop you spiraling out of control in your own mind. I was unlucky enough to have a panic attack in Japan, but it actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because I was forced by time constraints to go and do something, which completely distracted me from myself. It's hard at the time to think straight but I can tell when one is starting because I just start becoming more and more negative and irrational, that's my cue to do anything possible to distract myself.
  4. I sent a PM containing my thoughts on Call of Duty to Jon, if he wants he can post it here for everyone else to see, however I figured it might be best to keep things on the down-low. Flame wars are easy to start.
  5. The ASTOUNDING thread of science!

That is true, but there are key improvements made by superconductive trains. A. They don't have to actually land when they stop, maglev trains do. B. You can place a superconductive train at any orientation or angle. There are problems of course. In the real world try keeping an entire train at low enough temperatures to levitate while also keeping the passengers safe and warm. Good luck with that.
  6. Hopefully the arrangement I put in place is to your liking.

FCSBoOcGFFE Reality is still hitting you hard, bro.
  8. I always avoid watching trailers with any sort of singleplayer footage to avoid ruining the surprise, sadly those early trailers with the building falling were impossible to avoid, but i'm steering clear of most of their trailers at this point. I'm not sure you could actually release a triple A FPS without a singleplayer campaign in this day and age, even Battlefield probably has to have one.
  9. Did somebody say redstone? Let me at it!

Also as if kittens are constantly doing cute things in front of him.

I'm 18 and I couldn't be less like 90% of my generation. If anything I identify more with my parents' generation than my own, at least some parts of it anyway. (Particularly their family values.) For the record, I understand that everyone here is mostly joking. In life news: I spent the last 2 weeks or so coding an update to a Persona 4 HUD skin for Rainmeter in a combination of Lua and whatever the .ini file that Rainmeter runs from only to discover that it had already been done far more extensively than I had. What's more, it had been done by a guy i've seen around on GiantBomb recently. What a twist.

    Generalizations are bullshit great!

There's a lot of bad English like that in this mod, but a lot of mod makers seem to be from Europe and Japan and not all of them have the best grasp on English. Almost makes me want to email all these mod makers and offer to fix their English. I think i'd enjoy it and everyone would benefit from it, problem is of course that nobody would actually let you do it.

  16. anime

I'm currently watching 'Blade Of The Immortal' as it airs on TV here, seems like a stupid but enjoyable enough show so far. It's a lot of super stylized violence interspersed with dudes talking about samurai shit.

nQR49JGySTM I can't decide if this is ridiculously awesome or just ridiculous.

The difference being of course that magic uses normal physics in unusual ways to achieve things that seem impossible whereas science is starting to use unusual physics in new way to do things that seem impossible. That double whammy is mind-breaking. You can explain to my stupid monkey brain a thousand times how superconductivity or quantum physics work but I will never normalize them in the same fundamental way as I do, say, gravity.
  19. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

If the Insane Clown Posse thought magnets were magic wait till they see this. At a certain point science does start to look like magic, and we are rapidly approaching that point. QUANTUM PHYSICS, HOW DO THEY WORK?

Hopefully this hasn't been posted before.
  22. Seems like i'm the only person on earth who is genuinely excited and impressed by what i've seen and played so far. Sure it's buggy, but A. You're dealing with DICE here, you've got to expect it, B. It's a pre-release product and C. Any game that tries to push the limit on a technical level is going to have issues, look at Crysis or RAGE. Even if the full game was as buggy as what i've played, i'd still be alright with it, I love the way that game looks, sounds and feels.
