Surprised none of the Thumbs community is talking about this right now, game released on tuesday, and by all indications, met ever high expectation the gaming community set for it. The fighting system learned everything good from Street Fighter 4, and applied it to it's own mechanics for a fighting game, it has at least 20 hours of single player content, 4 minigames, and tons of online modes. I've been hooked on this lately just as much as portal, and as I mentioned in the title, a big reason is the story mode, which is pretty much everything everyone wanted in a new mortal kombat movie, but playable. It's hard to describe exactly why it's so good, but this is a game that needs to be played if you like fighters or have ever had any interest in the series. I hazard to say it might be THE best game in the series.

I also think it's an over reaction in any case to flat out cancel your credit cards because of this. Not only is it unlikely the hacker got the CC numbers, but even if they did, you could check your account electronically and be on the watch for fraudulent charges. The only thing cancelling your card is going to do is hurt your credit rating

spartacus was a strange series for me. the first two episodes were absolutely abysmal, but after that, it got so good that I became a huge fan. The violence, the sex, the speeches, everything the previous poster mentioned make it a huge guilty pleasure, and the prequel is fantastic as well. Can't wait for the next season

It really does suck, I was trying to play Portal Coop on the PS3 version, and I've been absolutely loving Mortal Kombat. Fortunately, those games have strong single player components I can distract myself with while the issues are sorted out.

I think you guys might be letting your love for Valve blind you to a fact that some of their older games aren't quite as good by today's standards. Hell, even vanilla HL2 has some very spotty AI and gunplay compared to modern shooters imo.

Yea that's a good point right there. It's like they are loading the next fight or cutscene while you're in the the previous moment, so whatever happens next, whether it's a fight or the next conversation between characters, there's never a loading screen. It's all seamless. Really a great design achievement when you think about it.

Played about an hour of the coop with a friend on the PS3 version today, going to do the campaign on PC tonight. The steam functionality works very well on the PS3, I was surprised. I was able to message PC people in game very quickly. It didn't lag or anything.

Well I think you're in the minority that it actually bothers, because for most consumers, it's probably helping their sales.

Valve is really doing a masterful job at marketing this game. They've been trickling out information for months, then it all comes to a head in the final weeks with these hilarious Cave Johnson videos, an ARG, and pre order bonuses up the wazoo? I wasn't even intending to buy the game a month ago but now I can't wait.

Make sure you watch the movie Serenity erick. It's actually really good and provides some semblence of closure to a series killed before it's time

Have you guys been watching any of the GSL world championship stuff or TSL3 streams? Some really talented non koreans in the game today, but in the end it's two koreans in the finals of the GSL, but the foreigners showed we can compete with the best of them, and the TSL3 is still going on at team liquid this weekend. I wouldn't expect it to work quite like that. It will probably be a one time use code linked to the steam account you create on the PS3. I think there will be a lot of upset people that thinking they are getting two copies of the game, and a lot of self entitled nerd rage(not from anyone here, but you know there will be those types out there)

That's definitely the plan. Play it on the PC for the slightly better visuals and mod support, but also have the PS3 version around to play coop with friends on that system, since it's my primary console.

Those ads and the amazon preorder bonus pushed me over the edge. Bought the PS3 version today for release date delivery. Heck of a deal, 55 US dollars and a 20 dollar giftcard, and I still have access to all the sweet mods I'm sure the PC version will have.
